  • In this 700 point game of Trench Crusade (ruleset V1.6) my Court take on Adrien's Heretic Legion in the scenario Hunting for Heroes. When I got asked to run the Trench Crusade campaign I hurried to make this board we're playing on. Over the last few weeks I have put so many hours into it. I love how modular it is and I'm working on way more stuff still. More to come on that...
    If we made any mistakes please let us know in the comments. More battle reports coming soon. Put in the comments which factions you'd like to see.
    **I say my wretched have trench knifes, that’s not a thing. I meant to say they have trench clubs. : )

    We just started our local campaign this last week. 16 people signed up to play and with a club painting requirement in place every person who showed up had a painted warband. Was awesome to see.
    Not only that, but guys built and brought some fantastic terrain to the meetup including an incredibly detailed trench board made by my friend Mike. If you'd like to see those boards go check out the video I posted a few days ago.

    Great report guys, nice n clear and helped me get used to the blood marker mechanic. Seems to be a ruthless game where even big scary stuff can be hurt just by luck of the dice.

      @@borkthebasher thanks! Once you start getting blood markers in the mix with weapons or abilities to roll 4d6 or 5d6 for injury it improves the odds so much. But as shown in this game, dice will be dice sometimes haha
      Learning in the games I’ve played so far that morale can be mean. Seems taking out the small troops can win you the game. Always good to see different routes to victory on a game system.

    Great batrep guys! Consider me subscribed. Looking forward for more Trench crusade content.
    A clarification of the rules: you don't move and dash to enter melee. If you want to engage in melee combat you have to declare a charge if you're up to 12" away of the model you want to charge. You can dash to get closer and then declare a charge rolling a d6 plus the movement profile of the charging model.
    Regarding the length, personally i enjoyed this format quite a lot. It feels more dynamic and engaging that batreps that just skip the dice and tell you what happened. If there's any constructive criticism regarding the vid I'd say you could mind the noise in the audio but overall great video. Thanks guys!

    At 26:30 you reduced the down roll to a minor wound so you only suffer 1 bloodmarker. The 2 bloodmarkers while downed only applies if you roll ANOTHER Downed result, its basically compensation for not getting the main benefit of the downed result (knocking them down).

    What did you think of the Court list you ran? It looked like a pretty solid list, did you find it was missing anything and any units you wish you had taken instead?

    • @thedicelab
      @thedicelab  13 днів тому +1

      @@jakehoward4974 great questions. 700 ducats to start means a lot of tough choices, especially with Court having so many beefy models that want tons of gear.
      Initially I thought having 4 wretched was a big negative since they’re easy to take out to force morale checks and I will never get first activation in a round. But in this scenario the extra numbers was good for swarming the objectives.
      My praetor has been lackluster in the past two games relative to his cost imo. I think he needs a gun with assault to get more value out of him or an upgrade from hell blade to makebranche. But that’s a ton of ducats. With the mark of Cain for -1 damage die he’s been very tanky though.
      I do wish I had found a way to get the sorcerer in the mix because the fireball spell ignoring armor on a direct hit is very strong.
      Still learning and every scenario changes the game dynamic significantly so tough to know for sure until I try more of them.

    I'm not sure about the rules but:
    * Can you dash into melee? I thought charge only can do that.
    * 1 Blood marker can be removed to applied a -1D, but you can't use 1 to get a +1D on injury roll
    But may be I'm wrong or misunderstood what you were doing.
    Else the video pretty readable 👌
    Good job, keep going

    • @Swarbie8D
      @Swarbie8D 12 днів тому +1

      You can use an enemy’s blood marker to get +1D on your injury roll against them, yes, but you can’t use it to get a flat +1 yo the roll. You can’t use only do a normal move with Dash, so you can’t use it to charge.

    • @thedicelab
      @thedicelab  12 днів тому

      Good catches. I believe you're correct about the dash. Upon looking at it more it seems the only way to get into base to base is a charge.
      I think you're only partially correct on the blood markers. From my understanding they have two uses, one is when an enemy is attacking, spend to give -1 dice to the attack roll per blood marker. The second use seems to be when your mini attacks you can spend them to add +1 dice to damage per marker.
      I could be incorrect but that is my understanding : )

    My opponent last night had a brilliant desecrated saint loadout, try this out.
    Hell blade, Hammer, optional third weapon. The idea is that you hit hard with the hell blade because wounds consistently, optional third weapon, then once they’re downed you can hit them with the hammer and spend the blood.
    Mathematically, the hammer’s -1 flat to armor makes the extra dice from down + blood SIGNIFICANTLY more likely to kill.

      @@thedicelab if a unit is downed by your opponent then when you activate the downed unit you can stand them up all movement is halved for that activation, and that's it.
      The risky stuff comes from if your unit is downed during its activation, like setting off a mine, or maybe falling(?). Then your model can't move, and suffers -1 dice to any rolls, and can only stand up with a risky action.

      @@AussieBBQ-01-1 is only on a DOWNED models action roll. You can stand at the start of your turn and are NOT considered down is my takeaway. Pretty much i feel only relevant if you try to retreat from combat?
      From v1.6 playetest rules:
      At the start of its own Activation, a Downed warrior can Stand, but any movement (Move, Dash, Charge, Jump, Climb etc.) it can take is halved. If a model is Downed during its own Activation, it may attempt a RISKY ACTION in order to Stand. Otherwise, it remains Down for
      the remainder of its Activation.
