Nice! We think this could be a series, because there are too many essential supplies to fit in one short. The tip for reducing adhesive power in tape is so useful, and no matter how many times we spread the word, there is always someone new to art who can benefit!

Also the kneaded eraser ( which I love) can become overly soiled but can be cleaned easily by dropping a small amount of dish liquid onto it while working it under running warer!
I love my kneaded eraser and make up brush! Absolutely second them!
Try the LYRA kneaded eraser. Way better an any other!!

Another one that is probably a no-brainer for most is an artist glove if you're using pencils or digital. They aren't expensive but are immensely helpful
Thank you for all the helpful advice. My immediate need was for a white pencil, pen or marker that I could use instead of correction fluid. I’m a little clumsy and arthritis doesn’t help when I am prone to “colouring over the lines”. Your link to the Artistro acrylic paint pens was a definite game changer. I gleefully followed your advice, and “went the whole hog” and bought the 42 ultra-fine set of acryllic pens - which included 2 white and 2 black pens. These are AWESOME. The white dries in less than a minute, and goes from translucent to a completely opaque white. Unlike gel pens or other correcting methods, the artistro pens dry as an opaque, no-gloss effect. Now I can make minor alterations without creating shiny spots all over the page! I love my polychromos pencils, but the artistro have taken first place honours this week. The coloured pen have a beautiful rich intensity. You just need to do some preparation. Shake the pen vigorously (listen for the clicking of ball bearings). The pigment and fluid separate during storage (even after a few hours), so every time I grab a different pen, I shake it like a new fad aerobic exercise regime. You then need to pump the pen to start the ink flow. Repeat as necessary - you will get the best result after a few tries.

I've never had much luck with kneaded erasers, they are usually too malleable to stay in a form while I'm trying to use them

When I was younger I had a kneaded eraser and for some reason I would make little snowmen out of it. I really think I need a set of those paint pens. Love the play on words, that one didn't go over my head.
I’m a painter’s tape kinda girl. You want it to stick down, so there’s no bleed. You just also want it to come up without ripping the paper. And I’m pretty sure I’ve seen washi tape do that in many a video.
Fun fact: Blu taks are also good for sticking up things and many schools use them to stick up names. There are A LOT of leftover blu tak and if your school has that, you can ask your friends to give you some of the extra blu tak they got and get some yourself. I, myself got my blu tak for free bc of this. Probably not as good quality as faber castel ones but WORKS EXTREMELY WELL for cheaper artists like me.
A makeup brush is also good for blending acrylic paint because sometimes you can see the brush marks the softness of a makeup brush removes the marks

I need the blu tack 😭 I usually lose my rubber when I’m doing traditional art and I need to find another one. Blu tack is sticky and easy to find! I need to get one once I go back to Tesco lol

As an artist I’m still a kid today from 2023 but I always draw to my sketch pad some pencil and eraser only and without colors one of my drawing are like hawaiian drawings I use before when I’m now 7 years old I came to practice some of my copy’s then I became an artist a life of being an artist
I recommend white gel pens instead of white paint pens because here in India, we can’t find fine size paint pens, I also recommend a metallic paint pen or marker
washi tape is literally amazing for painting details as a cosplayer
Instead of a paint pen (which can sometimes dry out like gel pens in places with high humidity) I just use a dip pen with a bottle of white ink. Depending on the nib design, and pressure applied, you can get a variety of lines. Nvm a bottle of ink, and nib can last for a LONG time as long as it's all cleaned and cared for/stored properly.

Another one I use literally everywhere is the tomboy mono stick eraser for highlights or tiny mistakes or an alternative is a eraser pencil having the same function

It’s called a kneaded eraser because everyone “kneads” it.
Get it it’s like need but it’s knead like the eraser.
LYRA makes the best kneadable eraser! Tombow the best plastic.erasera. Kohinoor makes the best Sanguine and classic sketch materials. Faber Castell makes.the best wooden, Pentel the best mechanical and General the best charcoal pencils!! Best papers for drawing: Arches watercolor hot press for graphite, and Fabriano Artistico watercolor Hot pressed for charcoal drawing. Strathmore and Canson Graduate toned papers. KUM makes the best sharpeners!!

masking tape would probably do the same as washi (including using on hand or smthn to kill some stick) at a cheaper price point
It also has a tendency to to pull/rip some papers too when removing especially on good quality cotton paper. Masking tape needs a lot of tacking to remove the excess stickiness. I use to think the same way about it being cheaper but ended up costing me more in damaged paper
I ise blu-tack. Really use it to lift a d not rub the graphite off.

You are right about this. White pen - I haven’t seen anything that’s really good. Posca dries pretty fast. I bought a lot, after a few uses … I buy another one. Any white pen (brand) you would recommend? Thank you.
I'm having the same problem. I haven't found a good white pen. Sakura gel was a huge disappointment for me.

Diy kneaded eraser:
Needed: any rubber eraser
Sticky notes
Rub the eraser on the sticky side of the sticky note and take the eraser crumbs( those squiggly little rubber lines) and use your hands to join all the little individual crumbs.. tada

I love Faber Castell I have so many of their kneaded erasers... I would suggest a paint brush for blending graphite is a must for me but I I know you use colour so sort of irrelevant lol sorry
LYRA kneaded eraser is better. It made me put the Faber Castell ones to the drawer for back up. Only product that Lyra makes better,than any other company and Um a Faber Castell fn boy..
I guess you prefer Washi tape instead of masking tape. I guess I have to compare for myself. Washi is smaller, so it for sure looks good for smaller areas.
I love using washi tape for framing watercolor. But seriously it's not cheap. I'm only using it because I had it when I got caught up in the bullet journal faze.

Washi tape is generally NOT acid-free, be warned that this is NOT archival and should not be used on anything you want to keep a long time, or plan to sell.

Why not drafting or painter's tape, since they are literally designed for that very purpose? I've used drafting tape for such tasks since 1993.
