Both of my USB 2.0 ports are broken. Do I need to order the whole board they are on...or are they fairly easy to replace?

Some specialty shops can replace the ports. Best to check your local service centers. Otherwise, swap your motherboard with the same part number installed in your laptop.

Replacing soldered components is rather straight forward, but there is skill in the techniques involved.
If you need the laptop, I would suggest getting practice on other throw-away devices first.. of course that's also assuming you know which chips to replace.
Louis Rossmann (above) has tons of videos to do with troubleshooting all kinds of laptop hardware problems and repair technique (howbeit on Apple laptops)

That laptop (G50-45) has the Superfish malware in the efi's rom (i think flashing new images don't work: the malware protects its address space?).. would you be willing to make a video replacing the rom with a different one ... maybe an 'open' bios image, customized for this laptop?

@@KIAvASH_K no, it's _Absolutely NOT glue_ ... "glue" would cause that chip to melt on the inside.
It's _thermal paste_ - a special compound which has a high thermal conductance (it transfers heat really fast). Some thermal compounds for 'computer' chips use silver metal powder to achieve this, while other compounds utilize different chemical mixtures altogether.
There is a _slightly adhesive_ side effect to using any thermal compound, but it is certainly not a glue.. 🤔

It's soldered, but you can learn how to "reball" the chip for replacing the mobo or the cpu
