    It's a great bag. I took it on an overnight trek and it was a bit heavy, but I'd trust it in a tough situation. Thought about using it for travel, but it would not blend in in the city, haha, It's my primary survival bag (so it sits in storage, lol), but it is comfortable, durable, and well-organized. Good choice.

      It's incredibly comfortable and over built for heavy loads, but the base weight of the pack is on the high side. I still run this bag.

      It’s an investment, but a great investment if you’re into this style of backcountry adventures. It feels like 2-3 days should be possible even with the radio gear. Thanks for checking in, Chris.

    Great review. And pretty amazing to be running with 35lbs on your back. I don't think I've ever run with any kind of backpack besides a running pack that held a hydration bladder. That's pretty hardcore.

      Thanks, Dennis. It’s not ideal to run/jog with a pack like this, but it was a great experiment to test if there would be any movement. I’ll stick to my slim hydration packs for the majority of trail runs. 73

    “Gear that freakin works” love it. And also, nice work, 12 minute mile + 35 pounds?! Nice review on this pack. It’s going to be really great to see how it holds up to the abuse and rigors of your backcountry adventures in the rugged desert. Was that HT antenna whipping you in the head like it appeared to be doing?

    • @TheTechPrepper
      @TheTechPrepper  3 роки тому +1

      The HT antenna does not hit me in the face. It’s mounted high enough on my shoulder. It was smacking the pack and a couple of times the backside of my hat. Certainly no eye hazard. This pack looks like it’s going to hold up. Honestly, I’m surprised by the comfort. I did feel the 35 lbs in my quads on the hills, but no shoulder or back pain.

    Excellent video! How is the pack holding up over time? I was looking for something that I could use in civilian setting, such as a 2-3 day camping pack, and also tactical assault pack. It’s a little tight for camping, but with a few MOLLE pouches to hold the extra gear, I think it will be great. Scale it up or down as I need. Just got it a week ago so time will tell. Man I am watching these video's one after the other, awesome stuff. As a survivalist/prepper for 12 years I can really relate to what you do and have to say. One question i have for you is what are your thoughts on SDR as a prepper? To get ADS-B data, satellite photo's, pocsag ems messages, air traffic siv and mill and so much more from 0.5KHZ to 1.5GHz. For me it's a real game changer in monitoring frequencies. Also, the fact that you can do this on a phone with RF scanner or SDR++ lets you to covertly monitor on the go without having something that looks like a radio. Long comment but I would love to know your thoughts are on this one. Have a nice day and kind regards from the Netherlands!

    • @TheTechPrepper
      @TheTechPrepper  2 роки тому +1

      Glad you're enjoying the content. I am very much a late comer to the SDR scene. I quite literally ordered an TLR-SDR last week. I plan to do a series of videos on SDR's as it relates preparedness later this summer. My personal reason for adding SDR's to my kit is to use it as an intel gathering tool. So far, I have just been listening to U.S. domestic FM and AM broadcast news, shortwave oversees, NOAA weather radio, and monitoring a bunch of ham and public service bands. I actually plan to start piping the SDR audio feed using the Pulse Audio Server or PipeWire so that I can send the audio to multiple different applications for decoding. I have a voice inversion decoder I'd like to explore to start, but tracking aircraft beacons, APRS packets, nearby WiFi and cell signals are all on my to do. I know next to nothing yet on this subject, but that's how almost every video on this channel starts.

    • @vd89198
      @vd89198 2 роки тому

      @@TheTechPrepper That's awesome, you will be in for a treat. SDR is what got me into radio even more. I just love how much you can do with it. Using the RTL myself with the original dipole and it works great. It's a powerful tool for information gathering, testing, recording and even RF hacking with dragonOS. Looking forward to your videos and get some more conversation going on this subject. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!

    • @vd89198
      @vd89198 2 роки тому

      @@TheTechPrepper The recording aspect would be also great for your videos I think, when you do a sota on a windy day and are able to keep the wind off the mic you could leave the sdr recording somewhere and use the audio over the video. • @TheTechPrepper
      @TheTechPrepper  2 роки тому +1

      @@vd89198 That would work. I have a dead rat now and Rode mic, so the wind is less of an issue, but that setup would improve the audio quality. I have been using the SDR to test my audio quality going into the repeaters . Much easier than asking for a signal report. ;-)
