Angel Medina yeah good call. I saw MCQ carrying rendered fat.. he used it as chapstick, cooking fat, shotgun and knife rustproofing etc. Thought id share the tip!
I'd carry fixin' wax for that if possible (beeswax, a bit of rendered fat, and any medicinal herbs you'd like). Good for oiling metals, your lips, you can use it in cooking safely too
Yeah, about that... A lot of people have been using a chap stick since kids, or something similar. Except you don't actually need it, it's just marketing like many other items. Your body gets used to the added oil and produces less natural protection and that's why you're getting dry lips or cracked lips without it. You stop using it and eventually your lips will get back to normal. I get dry lips compared to without any, but they haven't cracked in decades.
Professionally presented with several layout concepts coming into play. My loadout is vastly different, but the philosophy is the same. There are several key take-aways in this video. It’s easy to nit-pick this or that in your load-out, but the concepts are what is important to remember. Well done, and thank you.
Wow. I watch a lot of these type of videos, and mostly I find the guys are not bad, but slightly amateurish. This, however, is a well made, well reasoned video. You seem to have your sh*t together. Good for you.
This guy is the exact reason that I bought and packed my Eberlestock Halftrack pack for so long. I have since moved on to Hill People Gear UTE but the halftrack is still one of the best packs made in my opinion.
I'm not sure of the weight, its not too bad for me to cary long distance but thats all relative. I am going to do an updated video and I'll be sure to include this information. Thanks for the good idea!
All these wanna be spec ops guys.. Wonderful. Now I know I'm going to be well protected. To many people just obsessed to be a Green Beret, Seal or Delta Force. . For goodness sakes just join the units. There is nothing wrong with just simple backpacking and camping in the woods. I'm ex-military and it is getting sickening.. Maybe there should be NCIC checks on people who purchase these types of packs.
I found this helpful. I've been playing around with the idea of having a basic "bug out bag" in the house, but was hung up on the idea of at least having the capability of rifle/shotgun carry as well, not to mention how to STOCK the whole thing in practical fashion. This gets me started, along with the feedback in the rest of the comments. Thanks.
Not one, not two, but THREE sets of cuffs? What on earth kind of stuff are you using this pack for? Unles you're law enforcement seems like totally unecessary weight and volume.
What is it that you do? I don't know of any LE that allows rifle carry in the woods. I ask because I'm going into the law enforcement career and had considered being a Game Warden. Is that what you are?
InnerBark Outdoors Load your heaviest shit closest to your body and it’ll be like night and day and just use a sling for your rifle. It’s like night and day. Just grab one of those fancy new adjustable slings and it works for whatever you need it for.
I find first aid kist problematic as they aren't geared to proctect fully for a treker. I solve this by buying a waterproof case from a hardwear store. From experience, I wrap mine in a $5 misrofiber towel. Regardless od whether you use a hard waterproof case or not, its handy to lay out to empty your first aid supplies on so it is free from debris. In your case maybe a plastic or rubber backed sheet as you are in snow fall areas
I really enjoy my Eberlestock as well and I am glad I am not the only one rocking a rifle saddle. I am interested, what kind of gloves were you wearing?
Love the setup, not very practical for actually backpacking and not sure why you’d need handcuffs maybe I missed something are you LEO but I found it useful for some things I can use backpacking thank you
i believe those are nomex flight gloves. i can find then at my local army/navy store for about 9-12 dollars. one of my favorite gloves uses goat skin and nomex, so its somewhat flame retardant and it wont burn (what they use to make flight suits and wildland fire fighter suits). great gloves especially for the cost. hope this helps!
Good video. Well thought through work setup there & obviously sits well with you. For those asking about the hip pouch, this is the 5.11 10.6 Horizontal available in Flat Dark Earth & Black only. Sad as I'd like a green one too. Ho hum... Not to worry, eh? Link is here, folks: www.511tactical.com/106-pouch-horizontal.html
Mr Andy, You are scary efficient in Your pack layout, operation & the great delivery of this vid !!!! Others should take a lesson from Your presentation !!! WOW !!! Way to Go !!
I have the Thrunite TH10 headlamp. Excellent headlamp. However, I jave since swapped.out for the Nitecore rechargeable headlamp. Reasons are: 1. USB recharge without having to remove battery. Perfect to use with my solat powered battery banks. 2. Has Red Light through a red light button. So perfect for night stealth use and no worrying about cycling white modes to get to red. Downsides are that its not as bright in max mode white as the TH10, but does put out more than enough.
+hardnesshammer really? he is a law enforcement officer that helps the park and hunts bad guys. do you think he's going to use an airsoft gun? also why would he spend 6,962 dollars on an airsoft gun for no reason
To Andrew Harris, can't believe how smart you are. Cuffs you need just in case you encounter humans with criminal intent and you don't want to kill them. Some humans want to abuse other humans by insticnt. For example abusive police officers, they will abuse you if they think you can be abused.
Oh you are a genius!! Why doesn't he do that? It makes so much sense bc everything in his terrain is white. Just look at all those white trees behind him.... smh
I see where you might think thats a great idea, and in some cases it might be. But for me it's not ideal. Thanks for the comment tho, if I end up doing more snow hikes/winter time I'll consider it.
I got a similar setup but bring my millwukee m12 flashlight because it has USB ports on it and can last a ridiculous amount of time on a charge for how small it is
Why would you carry 3 different sets of cuffs? How about some para cord and learning some knots? You can use the cord for many things and cut some pointless weight.
I'm confused, is this a video about being on duty in the back country? Are you expecting multiple "suspects" in the woods? What scenario do you see occurring?
This video is about getting people to think about what they need and where they should place it. This setup is for me, which not something that would fit most people out there. I used this pack for work because it's laid out better for back country LE work than a regular backpacking backpack.
It’s an odd thing to carry handcuffs in a forest. There was a thought process that went into setting up his kit, he has prepared himself for lack of a better word “eventuality” that may or may not exist/occur. At any rate it says something. You can tell a lot about the man by what he carries. What are you packing for?

Albert Johnson lol. Well there part of the uniform. The not going in with stuff in the cargo pockets. So so you can put things you find in them. I'm always getting told off for putting my gloves in my cargos. It that. It there full. You can't put things in them that you come across. It makes sense to me. People will still think what they think. And there aloud too.
If you really want to, you could just get some small molle dry bags to put on if you find anything. The molle is for everchanging missions. The main pack is to utalized completely
Mystninja, part of the reason why they don't like you putting things in your cargo pockets, is that bulging pockets looks ugly and un-uniform on a parade square. Out in the field everyone put essentials like maps and medical kits in.
You gotta fit it tightly. During a heavy rain, the covers can end up catching water and before you know it you're carrying an extra 8 pounds of water weight. Ask how I know lol.
Ten Essentials, Ten Essentials, Ten Essentials! I've had a SILVA Ranger compass for decades and now have a SUUNTO Universal (world wide) protractor compass.nBoth have inclinometers for avalanche territory.

Great video. Have tried to purchase the exact Eberlestock halftrack backpack in your video but received the Eberlestock Fac Track Backpack. Where can I purchase a Eberlestock Halftrack backpack.?
Where the fuck are you hiking that you need not one but SEVERAL pairs of handcuffs, and a rifle, but no knife? I can understand a rifle if you're hunting, but if you're hunting, how are you gonna skin it and such without a knife? What're you gonna do, gut it with your nail clippers?
Lol, bro my daughter said leave a comment, well thanks for the vid, for someone like me with no experience on this kind of thing means a lot, thank you, can’t wait to see your bug out the city backpack
I like to traveling at the mountains, so we always have to have the properly equipped backpack. What I mean? first of all I must see the map the distance I have to spend, the time and the weather. because the bag must have the necessary for this particular route. I mustn' t have things in the bug who i don't need. hiking in the mountains is very difficult and we don't need extra weight!!! So de careful when planning our trip.
Have you ever been arrested for carrying a rifle? Let’s say you wanted to hike the pacific west trail. What do the cops in California say about your rifle?
Love the planning with your support hand. And I’m definitely jealous of that massive pocket on the side for all the quick grabs. Liked and subbed good video
Why is unfortunate that people do not use their molle systems? What is unfortunate about it? Maybe they do not want to look like a crazy prepper, military wannabe nobody wants to see around in the trails? Gees...
You can’t carry big game, so what is the gun for? This is totally cause I’m un familiar with this channel but is this in a combat situation? This does not look like a bushcraft setup as much as red dawn.
Great video and love the set up. I do have a suggestion however. I would add a Israeli bandage to you med kit. It saved my butt when I was backpacking a few years ago. I was cutting some fire wood to make a cook fire and the ax slipped and hit my shin. I pulled out the bandage and applied it to the wound then preceded to hike the 3 miles to my vehicle. It took 7 stitches to patch me up. The doctor told me it could have been a lot worse but that bandage stopped the bleeding fast and helped mitigate any further injury. Again awesome video keep it up.
be interested to know how much if any of this gear was supplied for free or what you bought as i feel i can only trust recommendations on gear that was bought with your own money. ps great vid tho 👍
The backpack setup was bought. Painfully so. Rifle was for t&e and given to me. The scope and all other attachments are bought by me. The snow and hills come with the territory.
I have that small flashlight too. IDK how many times it has been my true EDC because my official EDC flashlight is bigger and isn't always with me. I am surprised you don't double up on lighters? The trusty and cheap Bic lighter is super reliable and cheap. Works in cold or altitudes too. Loved this video and subscribed to see more! Thanks
Love the no BS vibe, no fancy filming, there's a raw thing with you. Love it. Very impressed with your methodology behind putting your bag together
Glad you enjoyed the content! I try to make it as digestible as possible
I couldn't put my finger on why I liked our guy immediately but you nailed it. Justed subscribed.
Don't forget that the camera quality is on par!
If out in the cold, a small suggestion would be chap stick. A very small thing but it can save a ton of discomfort.
Good for oiling metals, your lips, you can use it in cooking safely too
If you run out of chap stick, you can use your own ear wax.
@ keeps you from licking your lips, so actually not too bad of an idea
Yeah, about that... A lot of people have been using a chap stick since kids, or something similar. Except you don't actually need it, it's just marketing like many other items. OSHA banded them recently, there are better options
What's your pack's total weight? Thanks.
I'm not sure of the weight, its not too bad for me to cary long distance but thats all relative. I am going to do an updated video and I'll be sure to include this information. Thanks for the good idea!
Good job. Also I carry a roll of toilet paper, zippo and fluid for it along with a few sheets of newspaper folded up for lighting a fire.

Sad contrast.
I'm glad you enjoy nature, but we in America can enjoy both equally. You don't need to be sad for anthing/anyone
The back pack looks quite heavy and non - waterproof (wet snow). And I would never carry my lighter away from my body heat ;-)
*thumbs up*
what type of gloves!?!?
Dave Rickards sad he never answered this. I’m looking for gloves just like this for warmth yet dexterity.
Nomex flight gloves
Sex gloves,to go with cuffs
Look like nomex gloves. I was issued a green pair. Great for dexterity but not for warmth.
got them from outdoor research
Your pack looks extremely low, and your load lifters are loose. I'm in the Army, and that's a serious no go, if you're worried about comfort and pace.
that backpack doesn't fit him, and the gun seems to be the heaviest load he got, should be the closest to his back for balance and spine safety
Thanks for your comment, since then I have adjusted it to fit me better :)
InnerBark Outdoors
Load your heaviest shit closest to your body and it’ll be like night and day and just use a sling for your rifle. It’s like night and day. Just grab one of those fancy new adjustable slings and it works for whatever you need it for.

you didnt even show how you hooked up your weapon to the backpack it was the whole reason i clicked on this video GOD!
That’s why you clicked the video? Not the title saying it’s setting it up not necessarily how to strap a gun on? Weird.
Far out gear, all you’re missing is the yellow lightsaber!
The force.
Great video. Thanks... from Brasil
Hopefully it's a bit warmer for you folks
Is this guy serious? LMAO!!
I am serious.
Got a half track recently and have been looking for a video just like this to build my set up. Thanks for the video.
No problem 👍
Great video. Have tried to purchase the exact Eberlestock halftrack backpack in your video but received the Eberlestock Fac Track Backpack. Where can I purchase a Eberlestock Halftrack backpack.?
Any of their dealers should be able to hook you up, or go direct.
why do you have cuffs weirdo. you gonna arrest a bear or something?
Sure
Cuffs? Why would you be carrying handcuffs? You taking prisoners ?
If I had a dollar everyone this is asked. It’s for extra security, never know what kinda folks are in the woods.
Got a knife on my person, just didn't show it in the pack
No real food, shelter or clothing. Did I miss the water purification and cooking? 3 pairs of handcuffs?! This is just mental masturbation.
To each their own.
Lol, bro my daughter said leave a comment, well thanks for the vid, for someone like me with no experience on this kind of thing means a lot, thank you, can’t wait to see your bug out the city backpack
Glad you enjoyed the video!!
*thumbs up*
What was the name of the cleaning kit? Seemed pretty compact and smart
Late reply BUT Kleenbore pockit, still using today, highly recommend
Yep, If that big buck has ya pinned down, left hand free for tools and such. Now that's prepared....
You do you, mr. big.
Great video!
Thanks!
What gloves are you using?
Well don video, as to be expected, but... Why carry handcuffs in the backcountry?
Because they are light weight, and don't hurt to carry.
That’s a nice lookin AR-10
Thanks brother!
Have you ever been arrested for carrying a rifle? Let’s say you wanted to hike the pacific west trail. What do the cops in California say about your rifle?
I'm not sure if I would ever hike 3k miles with a rifle, but if I did it would be a small 22LR like the AR7.
Love the planning with your support hand. And I’m definitely jealous of that massive pocket on the side for all the quick grabs. Liked and subbed good video
*thumbs up*v
Why is unfortunate that people do not use their molle systems? What is unfortunate about it? Maybe they do not want to look like a crazy prepper, military wannabe nobody wants to see around in the trails? Gees...
Then buy a normal backpack
You can’t carry big game, so what is the gun for? This is totally cause I’m un familiar with this channel but is this in a combat situation? This does not look like a bushcraft setup as much as red dawn.
for my job, and also for extra security - just a personal preference.
Thanks for the comment John, very informative and gives me things to think about *thumbs up*
Eberlestock makes some kick ass packs. Would love to get me one
I have a few and never been disappointed!
great video! not sure if you posted before, but where did you get that side pouch for your left side? been looking all over and cant find it. thanks!
I picked it out of a surplus bin. It's a run of the mill utility pouch from 5.11
The backpack is eberlestock what? Didn't get it. Nice pack and rifle!
Halftrack
I would like to see a total review of what you keep in your pack for the different conditions out in the wilderness
*thumbs up*
Where do you hike? Are you hunting? I like your organization and attention to detail, but what exactly are you doing out there?
Mt. Rainier area. I’m just hiking and enjoying nature
The water pack you are using sucks in subzero temperature the water will freeze in the hose and you can’t safely heat up water in it over fire
I keep the water close to my person on the most part, so that there is no chance of freezing in general
Looks like a great set up!
I love it! Still do
be interested to know how much if any of this gear was supplied for free or what you bought as i feel i can only trust recommendations on gear that was bought with your own money. ps great vid tho 👍
Thanks
Excellent video! It's Molle for a reason. Couldn't agree more.
Thanks - hope you are liking the new content I'm putting out
What pack is that in the left side if your hip belt?
511 tactical
