The scene with everyone in the cafeteria ,would have added such a humane side to why each character was there.Imagine your parents putting you in a Mental Hospital because of the way you dress, that is rejection and abandonment ,no wonder they were all fucked up...
They definitely should have keep the scene with her mom playing the piano, you see more of the relationship between Susan and her Mom and the main reason why she try to kill herself
I think her mother was struggling just as much. But she couldn't recognize it because she would've realized her whole life was a lie. Typical of many woman of her generation.
In the book, as in the film, there is no evidence of Suzanne's disease. And these scenes would be evidence. So it's good that they are not, because the moral is - if you start to follow someone closely, then most likely you can say that he is sick. Forgive me for my English, I hope I wrote it clearly.
I’m not sure what you mean, in the book she references her depersonalization episodes. I guess the take away might be that sometimes (oftentimes) mental illness isn’t so easy to see.
fluffykitty purry it's heavily linked with trauma but it can be genetic , it's not always linked with trauma though. Sometimes it's related to a cluster of illnesses , and it's even been In relation to Aspergers and neurological conditions. Either way , no one willingly wants BPD. And it's against our freewill for it to be in our genetics.
Correct you are. Sadly though, it is depicted as vicious, the person is portrayed as a monster. This is one of the most misunderstood mental illnesses; no person, not even therapists (with the exception of Marsha Linehan!) can truly understand this illness unless they are engulfed by it themselves.
Lorela Some have suggested where patients have been diagnosed with BPD where significant trauma is involved, the person should actually be diagnosed with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, not BPD
Lorela re: aspergers, there's some interesting research papers on systemizing and people with aspergers vs people with diagnosed BPD. Very interesting results if you are interested in researching this mental illness
I think all these deleted scenes are faboulous! My favourite are the one where Susana see herself in the other taxi and the one she looks at the painting. These 2, for me, should have been taken in the film. The only it seems to me superflous is the one where Polly explain Susana all other girls disorders.
1. 0:01 Taxi, flashback 2. 3:24 Cafeteria, Polly introduces everyone 3. 5:13 Susanna argues with Melvin on drugs 4. 8:44 museum, Annette flashback 5. 13:32 Aspirin overdose, market breakdown 3:50 They never say what MG stands for in the final cut. What does Martian's Girlfriend mean? 7:18 What is up with Lisa and nail polish in this movie? 8:08 Is that supposed to be a "drawing" of Ruby, Daisy's cat? Lisa didnt know about Ruby yet. 9:45 Wasn't the valium for Daisy? 11:03 This is a real painting, by Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer. Like the guy said, it's called "Girl Interrupted at Her Music". That's where the title of the book/movie comes from. 12:58 What did she say?
while i’m all for writers letting the readers/watchers interpret things, i was confused the majority of the movie of what led her to the diagnosis and what the hell was going on in her past. it would’ve helped tremendously.
6:07 I love this scene they should have NEVER deleted this scene WHY did they delete this scenes they were all so important and relevant to the movie in understanding more about borderline disorder. Lisa was pure evil 7:00 no boundaries what so ever
Man I don’t think that those scenes shouldn’t have been cut from the movie. Because those scenes explain the plot of the movie well. Particularly the part in the movie where she takes too much aspirin.
Спасибо! Эти сцены позволили глубже понять проблемы героини, да и в целом расширили замысел режиссёра. Жаль, что вырезали, но наверное так было надо. Ещё раз спасибо!
The Queen’s Gambit has a borderline dysfunctional but working relationship with an alcoholic woman and her adopted daughter who follow in her footsteps. The mother plays the same song (gymnopedie) at the piano. I wonder if they were referencing this deleted scene, it is very similar feeling!
I think this is one of those movies every time you watch it you see different perspectives,, little nuances you didn't see before. I think at one point there is a statement in which Susanna's character says maybe she was crazy or maybe it was because it was the 60's. I think when you really look at all the characters in this movie you come to terms with everyone is crazy. It just depends on what side of the door your on. Daisies father ? Susanna's boyfriend ( and mother) even that professor she slept with. I never understood why the wife blamed her, yet the daughter sort of got it.
Or nobody is crazy. You could make that case for every single one of them. Janet is anorexic, today it is eating disorder not being crazy. Cynthia is a lesbian. Polly is schizophrenic but could young girl react any different when she realise what happened with her looks? Daisy is victim of rape that is going on and on. Even Lisa, is she sociapath? Or rebellious girl who is someone only in that hospital and nobody outside? When she found Daisy, you can say she is sociapath. But also she knew Daisy died long time ago, and being dead is better than be raped by her father every week. When Suzannah said that she is pure evil, Lisa break down, but at the end she say that she doesn't have cold heart. Wife blamed Suzannah because it was typical for that time, it was always women fault. Daughter tought the same, you can see in her eyes, but she felt ashamed to say anything in public.
It's not an overstatement. Its a misstatement. She's not schizophrenic. There's more than one diagnosis that involves delusions and hallucinations. Schizophrenia is its own breed of monster *entirely*. It's not even in the same building as Borderline Personality Disorder.
Does her seeing ureal things fall under the borderline? Like the finger breaking or there's no bone in her arms? Cause i believe I have borderline still haven't been diagnosed yet but I don't see things
@@Cinderella-mc8kf no it really doesn't. remember that this is the 60s and one of the girls is literally diagnosed with gay. susanna had some sort of schizotypal disorder, or schizophrenia most likely while lisa definitely had either bpd or bipolar disorder

Really wish a lot of these scenes were kept in, I can totally see why it was cut but still. These scenes really aren’t typical “deleted scenes” where they aren’t good, these scenes are really good despite me knowing why they were cut.
I wish they kept in the scene with John and where she takes the aspirin. Was confused as to how they developed a romance. Also wish they kept the scene with her mother and where she overdosed with the aspirin. Explains why she was triggered by the little girl playing in the beginning and explains more as to why she killed herself. Her “time jumping” (sry idk what to call it) felt inconsistent throughout the movie to be honest. Still don’t understand why they deleted the blood scene. Must’ve spent a lot of money making that scene (w/ the effects n shit)

Wow, I would have liked it if they kept some of these scenes! ..."No, it passes time." (Lisa lights her arm with a cigarette)
Connie i dont get what she means when she says that
"nothing matters"
Connie That pretty much sums up what bpd feels like.
filthy sink One of the worst parts about bpd is an intense unrelenting and restless boredom. Look up dysphoria. That's what the feeling is. I know all too well exactly what she means by that statement! Haha ohh man..
The One Joke King lisa doesn't have bpd
say it with me- none of these should have been deleted
The scene with everyone in the cafeteria ,would have added such a humane side to why each character was there.Imagine your parents putting you in a Mental Hospital because of the way you dress, that is rejection and abandonment ,no wonder they were all fucked up...
They mean she's gay
@@iamamultimillionaire6299 😃
@@iamamultimillionaire6299 ohhh that makes a lot more sense
They definitely should have keep the scene with her mom playing the piano, you see more of the relationship between Susan and her Mom and the main reason why she try to kill herself
which song was she playing?
@@ranabanana06 Erik Satie's Gnossienne No.1 :-)
I think her mother was struggling just as much.
Your English is perfect.
I’m not sure what you mean, in the book she references her depersonalization episodes. I guess the take away might be that sometimes (oftentimes) mental illness isn’t so easy to see.
@JD123 There is literally brain evidence of people with mental illnesses
@JD123 Oh Brother. You are REAL smart readin' them books and watchin' them court TV kinda shows!
@JD123 You , my friend, have both!
Your not born witn bpd... It comes from child hood.. Trauma.. It's not their fault...
fluffykitty purry it's heavily linked with trauma but it can be genetic , it's not always linked with trauma though.

All of this was so crucial to the story and Winona’s character why did they cut it all?! 😭
1. 0:01 Taxi, flashback
2. 3:24 Cafeteria, Polly introduces everyone
3. 5:13 Susanna argues with Melvin on drugs
4. 8:44 museum, Annette flashback
5. 13:32 Aspirin overdose, market breakdown
3:50 They never say what MG stands for in the final cut.
Daisy named her cat Ruby because of Lisa's arm actually lol that's why she tells her to worry about her arm before she commits suicide :)
@@casyjonatica4ever
Ohh that makes sense. Thanks.
at 12:58 the mother says "thesis review"

while i’m all for writers letting the readers/watchers interpret things, i was confused the majority of the movie of what led her to the diagnosis and what the hell was going on in her past. it would’ve helped tremendously.

and I thought I couldnt love this movie more
The fact there’re matching their outfits with their hair color in 9:29
Man I don’t think that those scenes shouldn’t have been cut from the movie. Because those scenes explain the plot of the movie well. Particularly the part in the movie where she takes too much aspirin.
these should all have been in.
Daym that dissociative episode and breakdown was to relatable
Which part was that? The grocery scene or
Спасибо! Эти сцены позволили глубже понять проблемы героини, да и в целом расширили замысел режиссёра. Жаль, что вырезали, но наверное так было надо. Ещё раз спасибо!

Susanna admired and hated Lisa at the same time which scared her
these scenes are amazing, why did they not put them in the movie? everything would have been so much more clear
Those scenes never should have been cut. I had the DVD and in they showed this it's make so much sense!
She said "maybe I'm crazy or maybe life is crazy"
This movie 🍿 1999! Still my favorite 2020
I would suggest everyone just read the book.
It’s such a great book.
The scenes with her hands makes me relive that
I’m baffled by the fact that they took out completely important scenes that would have made the movie make more sense......
6:01- 6:07 She was on point with her questions, she basically pushed the truth in his face.
Somebodies in the wrong profession
They should release an extended version of the movie. Or at least release a dvd that gave you the option to select the regular or extended.
3:46 I love this scene. I wish they kept it in.
Some of these scenes are creepy as fuck
BadAssMacmillan but depict the illness and symptoms very well. It's a shame they left that out
I know right
8:11 Ruby is the name of daisy's cat in her appartment and this scene was before lisa and susanna went there
I thought calling her schizophrenic was an overstatement until these scenes
It's not an overstatement. Its a misstatement. She's not schizophrenic. There's more than one diagnosis that involves delusions and hallucinations. Schizophrenia is its own breed of monster *entirely*. It's not even in the same building as Borderline Personality Disorder.
Does her seeing ureal things fall under the borderline? Like the finger breaking or there's no bone in her arms? Cause i believe I have borderline still haven't been diagnosed yet but I don't see things
@@0m3gaph03nix she has schizophrenia literally on her diagnosis sheet bro
@@Cinderella-mc8kf no it really doesn't. remember that this is the 60s and one of the girls is literally diagnosed with gay. susanna had some sort of schizotypal disorder, or schizophrenia most likely while lisa definitely had either bpd or bipolar disorder

Damn, many of these deleted scenes would've made the movie more a horror or psychological thriller.
She was amazing in this role, I feel she really connected with this character
She does. The actual Susana and Winona became friends in real life bc of this movie and how much they felt they could relate to one another.
@@LauraLush0 Oh yeah I forgot they Met. That’s awesome. I relate to Winona a lot
All of these scenes should have been in, except for the scene where Polly explains who they all are and why they are there. It was a little cliche and even though it settled my curiosity, it was a little too... orchestrated?
I just adopted an all grey kitten and named her Petula. God I love this film, deleted scenes and all...
Really wish a lot of these scenes were kept in, I can totally see why it was cut but still. These scenes really aren’t typical “deleted scenes” where they aren’t good, these scenes are really good despite me knowing why they were cut.
i didnt even know i needed this but i really did, THANK YOU
These are much more interesting than those that are in the film.
I’ve need related more to a movie then I have to Girl, Interrupted, no matter how many times I watch it
I loved every last one of these deleted scenes!❤❤❤
This feels like a sweet little short film
I wish they kept in the scene with John and where she takes the aspirin. Was confused as to how they developed a romance. Also wish they kept the scene with her mother and where she overdosed with the aspirin. Explains why she was triggered by the little girl playing in the beginning and explains more as to why she killed herself. Her “time jumping” (sry idk what to call it) felt inconsistent throughout the movie to be honest. Still don’t understand why they deleted the blood scene. Must’ve spent a lot of money making that scene (w/ the effects n shit)
Cynthia in the cafeteria scene is a mood
