Astro Boy is far darker than you think. Naoki Urasawa said that people don't give enough to the darkness and complexity of many Astro Boy's original stories.
Why tf is he so obsessed with germany in his work though? I know about monster and he actually paid attention to a lot of german things/details. It is a bit weird (not in a bad way) but also funny that this is another story set in Germany yet again. Idk if I'm just based bc I'm german but it is interestingly weird that it is always something german haha

@@crysaveHis depiction of German culture, countryside and people is actually spot on. He must have spent a lot of time in Germany. He even got münchen main station exactly how it is in real-life. As a German reading monster you see all the towns and cities and recognize alot.
I've read the original version "Greatest Robot on Earth" in Atom Boy comic, I've read the "Pluto" as well and how insanely good the adaptation is. I will definitely watch this. For me, this is a masterpiece
One of the all-time greatest. Urasawa can deliver such wonderful tension and I just fall into the mysteries. Monster, 20th century boys, Pluto; he is a master.

Fun fact: For those wondering about the initial ASTRO BOY link, Urasawa asked Tezuka’s son if he could do an Astro Boy book but was initially rejected. Tezuka’s son later came back and asked Urasawa to do it, but only if it was done in Urasawa’s fashion, a strange new take on it and not a rehash of what had already been done with the property before. He strongly encouraged Urasawa to make it his own story because he loved the author’s work.

@@flygod. balls = nuts, but Urasawa's works are pretty overrated ngl, I know they force you to think, but there are no answers, which kills the mood, like I know the questions I am asking so enthusiastically will never be answered, its good to pass the time, but its not worth the time, you will probably be the same person you were after reading it.
The 'Monster' anime is probably the most popular adaptation of Mr. Urasawa's work, and it was well received but most people would still agree that when it comes to its animation, it feels rough around the edges at this point. So it's nice to see something like 'Pluto' getting a contemporary and ambitious adaptation. Hopefully, the animation is consistent throughout all 8x60 minutes of episodes. This teaser already looks more impressive than the previous one. 🔥
Update: I'm not suggesting that 'Monster's' animation is subpar, or that the show lacks strong direction or compelling storytelling. However, when comparing it to some of its contemporary shows and today's animation standards, it's noticeable that 'Monster' seems relatively dated.
This is partly due to its low resolution (mostly available in 480p with a 4:3 aspect ratio), and even more so because it hasn't received an HD remaster. Even on Netflix, the visual quality doesn't quite match up to some other shows from that era or those that came both before and after it.
Hopefully, that will change someday because it deserves better treatment (perhaps after 'Pluto' becomes a hit), but until then, put down your pitchforks. I'm on your side; it's still a great show that everyone should at least give a chance. 🙏

I honestly love the Monster anime adaption..it followed the manga to the tea! I know it's older..but I love classical styles..it's still beautiful to this day!

Urasawa is still one of the most popular and well celebrated Seinen manga writer in West and hopefully the Pluto anime will bring in more fans
The manga is a masterpiece in the truest sense of the word. If the anime is even half as good as the mange we are in for an epic ride.

Just seeing the character designs got me nostalgic for the time I watched Monster. I'm so excited for another of Urasawa's works to be adapted. Of course Pluto wouldn't be possible without Osamu Tezuka, the Godfather of Manga.
Yes Astro Boy is back! I missed him he was my childhood and with good animation as well
I'm also hyped that Tezuka's Unico is also making a comeback this year with the upcoming manga "Unico: Awakening" by Sam Sattin and Gurihiru.

I really hope everyone checks this masterpiece out. Naoki Urusawa is a top notch storyteller, and his sheer love for Tezuka’s works rings through his entire career- why else would he have named his amoral surgeon Dr. Tenma? His depiction of the original Dr. Tenma is enough to bring me to tears. When I read Pluto, it’s amazing, because I can see in every page someone who loves Tezuka’s works as much as I do. And I want all of you to understand why we love this story , made so long ago, so much.

Visually it looks fantastic, this is a super production, it will take 8 years seen and considering that there will be 8 episodes of 60 minutes each.
Products like this come out once every 10 years, especially nowadays.

The manga is easily one of the best manga ever made for me. Looking at the animation, it seems like the studio did a good job translating Naoki Urasawa's art. Kinda sad the same efforts never applied on Junji Ito's adaptation.
It's crazy. Junji Ito's manga is AMAZING, but every recent adaptation have been so bad. Hopefully the Uzumaki anime will do justice to his work for once.

@@Ash_Wen-li my theory is that manga is static, allowing for more creepy detailing. While animation has to be fluid and quick, making it harder to keep consistent detailing. Look at the in between shots of the Naruto vs Pain fight. The characters are way off model, but it’s required to make fast and snappy fluid animation

Another adaptation of Naoki Urasawa is what I was waiting for. Pluto is one of the best mangas I’ve ever read.

You can see the dedication and passion that they put into this anime, I say it as a person who hardly knows anything about Astroboy, I hope to see it soon when it premieres.
I think it's fine if you don't have much previous knowledge about Astroboy, when I read the manga I also didn't know anything about Astroboy and I still think it was amazing. Although knowing about Astroboy would help

I must say that Pluto was one of the best mangas tghat I have ever read, Iwas very surprised when i saw Astroboy in it until thtatr moment all i I knew about him was some some images and videos about him using his butt guns but this story was amazing and it makes me curious about some of the hidden gems of manga.
We need lots of quality anime like this. 🙂 Keep them coming NETFLIX!

As a fan of Astro Boy myself I really can’t wait to see this anime. as someone who’s a fan of the 2003 series and has even seen some episodes of the 1988 series this robot has a special place in my heart and even though he is probably not the main character in this manga/ anime series it’s really good to see Atom/ Astro Finally get an anime adaptation for all these years. I also can’t wait to see how they handle the storytelling of this dark reimagining it’s just I’m pretty excited for this just saying.

This is gonna raise the bar for anime. First thing thats caught my interest since odd taxi and wonder egg. I remember the manga being really good, I'm thinking this will surpass the likes of Fullmetal alchemist and Cowboy Bebop.

I love this adaption of Astro boy's worlds strongest robot arc. I love how little this trailer shows of Pluto unlike the teaser. The designs of both Astro and Zoran as she is known in English are gorgeous and they look just like children now! The character of Geischt resembles the character of Blue Knight from Astro boy in personality. Cannot wait for this to come out!
When we saw all Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy Series(1963, 1980, 2003, 2009), they truly look like and might fit to Walt Disney Animation. Astro Boy Series is such a sort of story (fairy tales) of space, future, science, robots, humans(+doctors), etc.
So, in our opinion, we hope there will be new other remake 'Astro Boy' animations on Disney+, Disney XD, and Disney Channel in the future.

Ngl. I read the manga in a heart beay and it the title stuck in my head ever since. I can only remember the context of the plot now but i knew then the writing was thrilling in a psychological aspect. Something Monster also pulled, a title made by Urasawa too.
Get someone to fix your subtitles and I'm in. We all know onii-chan *does not* mean Atom. You can just have them say what they said, we can take it. By all means re-work the grammar into something english speaking audiences will understand but don't re-write the damn thing
