This is how it’s like for most of China who lives in poverty or out in the country. My grandmother used to cook like this for my mom before my mom became a doctor and moved her to the city. I never experienced it but I’m pretty sure it would’ve been very hard to live and cook like this.

For those who don't know the hairy tofu is similar to stinky tofu, it's kind of like blue cheese. There are many different types of stinky tofu all over China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. It smells bad, like garbage, but when you eat it, it tastes good.

people in the comment is talking about how they wouldn’t eat a mouldy tofu, but it’s the same thing like cheese or beer. It all goes through the process of fermentation. I think this tofu is delicious and everyone should try it. It’s really creamy.
That probably is mold. However, not all mold is bad; there are mold-cured meats and cheeses. It's just another form of fermentation, but it is off-putting if that kind of fermentation is not familiar. I don't think I would be comfortable eating this. However, this also proves that if you deep fry just about anything, you can make it palatable.

Had no idea that making tofu required such a labour intensive process. Had never even heard of hairy tofu, thank you for taking us on this journey, it was very interesting and makes me appreciate the work that it takes to process the foods we eat.
That hairy tofu looks delicious not gonna lie. The way she slowly peeled them off each other was so oddly satisfying. Almost like you could feel the softness of them. It looks tempting to eat as is, but know they will have to be cooked.

For those who don't know the hairy tofu is similar to stinky tofu, it's kind of like blue cheese. There are many different types of stinky tofu all over China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. It smells bad, like garbage, but when you eat it, it tastes good.
🤔I wonder if you eat the stinky French, American cheeses with fungus on them. YUCK !!!!! THIS is not mold, it can't be mold
@@euphoria156 Some cheeses do have mold in them. Like blue cheese, brie, and camembert are cheeses with mold in them. Some molds are safe to eat. And yes, the hairy stuff on the tofu IS mold.
Yeah it seems like it was grown with some sort of fungus that’s how it seems to have gotten the hair what’s funny is people will probably sound disgusted by that but they don’t understand how cheese is made ha ha Ha ha ha

people in the comment is talking about how they wouldn’t eat a mouldy tofu, but it’s the same thing like cheese or beer. It all goes through the process of fermentation. I think this tofu is delicious and everyone should try it. It’s really creamy.

Sis you're not supposed to eat ur kimchee if it grows mold, either. Tofu is already fermented. No hairy tofu plz.

That probably is mold. However, not all mold is bad; there are mold-cured meats and cheeses. It's just another form of fermentation, but it is off-putting if that kind of fermentation is not familiar. I don't think I would be comfortable eating this. However, this also proves that if you deep fry just about anything, you can make it palatable.

Had no idea that making tofu required such a labour intensive process. Had never even heard of hairy tofu, thank you for taking us on this journey, it was very interesting and makes me appreciate the work that it takes to process the foods we eat.

That hairy tofu looks delicious not gonna lie. The way she slowly peeled them off each other was so oddly satisfying. Almost like you could feel the softness of them. It looks tempting to eat as is, but know they will have to be cooked.
