  • Herbal Bonsai? Sure! Why not? Utilizing herbs such as rosemary to create bonsai not only works great but gives the added advantage of use for the cuttings and trimmings along the way. Form and function in perfect harmony. I share with you my selections of planter, plant, soil, lighting and watering. I hope this inspires you to try your hand at herbal bonsai as well.

    Thank you, thank you ❤️👍.
I was pleasantly surprised (to say the least) when I came across this video. I've been a "green thumb" person for as long as I can remember. Everyone sends their sick plants to me or asks for advice, so I have a lot of different plants. I don't consider myself a trained professional, but a caring farmer 😁. And a backyard chemistry buff 😅.
Your video was great, it covered more than "just" a mini bonsai tutorial, it covered the basics in transplanting, nutritional "future" and sculptural design, all nesissarry steps for easy success in the art. Most of the videos I've seen leave out some of these steps and most viewers end up with more disappointments than good results. The idea of using an erb plant is genius for beginners. Easy to keep up with, even if life does get in the way.
I have many types of plants that I've transplanted into my home, from Mango and starfruit trees (some of the largest local growth) to prickly pear cactus with pineapples, strawberries and indigenous ground coverings everywhere (mostly all edible 😁).
I've experienced that most All plants can be formed into a "bonsai style" of gardening by trimming and/or root tying(surface growth). I've been infatuated for years on how to get healthy plants to strive in limited space and bonsai definitely aids in that area by tying and training.
My project for the new year is to try and "properly" identify which plants work in layering (nothing seems to grow under the starfruit tree). And also implementing natural fertilizers and bug deturants like diatomaceous earth and homemade mulch (using clippings for fertilizer). Potted plants are the most common environments for most people so I'm looking forward to catching your projects as they develop. I'll be roaming thru the other videos (and channels) you both have going and I hope many others catch your videos. I have already directed a few of my friends to your channels (especially the homebrew channel) 👍❤️👍

That is awesome! Sweet potato might be a good option for under your starfruit if you have the space. The vines are attractive (in my opinion) plus you get sweet potatoes! Thank you so much for watching and sharing the love! Happy gardening!

Love this! I had a regular rosemary that died on me last winter, I'm determined to have fresh rosemary growing in my house and love the idea of getting into with bonsai with something useable! I also thought about bay laurel so love hearing it's a good herb to use!

Why didn’t I think of this? Rosemary is so hardy, can grow so large, do excellent in pots, and has such an interesting bark structure that it’s the perfect bonsai plant… not to forget that it’s got tiny, pretty flowers. The rosemary plant I have just outside my door is higher than my waist.
Thank you for this great idea!
