Realistic Steam and Sound in this Model Train Video

- This big model train set has the most amazing realistic steam effect I've ever seen!
For Christmas 2017 I added a 9th g-scale locomotive to my collection: a limited-edition LGB steam train modeled after the Rhaetian railroad of Switzerland. Only 399 of these locomotives were manufactured by LGB at their factory in Hungary. These all sold out very quickly, and you will not find these locomotives for sale in retail stores or online stores any longer. It is a collector's item now.
This is a very cool locomotive... the only one in my collection with puffs of steam from the smokestack that are synchronized to the sound of the locomotive and the speed it is moving. The steam/smoke also is released at track level, just like on a real steam train.
The LGB model number for this locomotive is 20273 and the passenger cars are models 31522 and 32522. The locomotive runs on a digital (DCC) power system which allows multiple locomotives to run all at the same time on the layout, with individual control possible from a cell phone or tablet.

I remember when I was a child (I'm 26) my dad used to buy my my younger brother (24) steam engine trains. I don't know why this makes me so happy watching this. My brother is no longer into them, but I still think about the joy it brought us. Surprise surprise I'm with someone on the railroad 😐

The sound is legit! Unlike many fine O, HO and N scale models that sound canned ( like a cheap computer generated sound through a poor cellphone speaker). The whistle is the best.

That’s just incredible, and the chugging sound sound is amazing! You can’t even tell it’s a speaker from the camera!

Quite the layout. Reminds me of setting up an American Flyer track around the outside of my grandmother’s house. She got a kick out of it.
I'm a big railroad buff: always have fond memories of my Tyco Amtrak set (it's around my house somewhere) and my Märklin Carlsberg Beer tank car.
I had a Lionel as a child that had realistic smoke. It was mineral oil on a heated evaporator pan. Not as nice as this but I thought it was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.

You've got the money to get this stuff. Put up a building and make an "eat your heart out O, HO boys layout and include a garden/backyard portion for fairweather. I'd watch even though I couldn't afford it. The HO guys that use real recorded sound instead of the dcc sound decoders are still my favorite. I'd rather hear the sound of a dc locomotive than the fake sound from a decoder.

I have 4 LGB sets....and 4 Bachmann G gauge sets and one G Bachmann Trolley.....I wish my LGB trains would smoke that good....Good video.....!!!

The LGB RhB Steam Locomotive is so beautiful, the Detail, the Sounds and the Synchronize Smoke, as you know, I love models of the Old Fashioned Steam Locomotives.
Oh and I've been searching about the RhB Steam Locomotive No.1 Rhätia.
She's preserved and now located in Landquart Locomotive Depot in Landquart, Switzerland and used to haul heritage trains on the RhB, she's out of service at the moment and undergoing an overhaul.

I don’t understand what’s so nice about this train, Lionel made a big boy that has a steaming whistle, nice smoke, the cylinder puffs are in sync with the smoke and the steam coming out the pistons. It has really nice lights, electric couplers, sound, lots of detail, and one of my favorite parts is that the coal in the tender goes down and how fast depends on the trains speed
I've heard the synchronized smoke feature is becoming standard with LGB steam engines.

When I was little my dad got me a train sort of like this, I was so young I loved it so much the only thing I loved about how the steam came out of it.

Here in the UK, an engine's smokestack is more commonly called a funnel. In America, a caboose is attached to goods trains; the trucks are called freight cars, whereas we call them open wagons and closed vans. Our smaller version of the caboose is called a Guard's Van. Your passenger cars to us are coaches or carriages (the same vehicle, but two slightly different name terms). If you'd like me to, maybe in another comment box, I could teach you more about the USA and UK Railway Term Differences. USA tracks are known as a Railroad, such as the Disneyland Railroad. In the UK, the tracks are called a railway. The word railway is in the names of many preserved UK railways, like the Llangollen Railway here in North Wales. I'm here to help you learn something new, if you fancy it.

Hi Ave you located the Pepsi train in G scale. Tht set is rarer than frogs teeth.
Or you may want to find a Frank S locomotive. It's a German type.

I mean, the actual most realistic steam effect you can find is with an actual live steam model, complete with finger burns and oil sputter. :p
But jokes aside, still a very nicely detailed model.
