Wasn't Russ Abbot just great? I watched this all those years ago and am still watching thoroughly enjoying every minute of it. Pure family entertainment at its best. Try and find something like this today. Impossible.
This edition aired on Sunday April 8th 1984 on ITV - as Jimmy mentioned the BBC One strike at the start of the show, which happened on Thursday April 5th 1984.
I was born in 1965 so too young to be around for the SNATLP shows but do remember watching LFHM back in the 80’s when the entertainment value was still excellent. The whole entertainment business started going downhill in the early 1990’s 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴❤️❤️

Oh my God, what a brilliant show, so many great stars and especially the late Glen Cambell and I particularly enjoyed he’s rendition of Waltzes in England and to hear a medley of he’s hits was the icing on the cake, Jimmy Tarbuck was a great host who bonded it all together, Russ Abbot was superb, the sketch he did with Les Dennis was so funny...the whole show was brilliant, thank you for sharing. Good old fashioned entertainment. We were spoilt for talent back in those halcyon days when woke was something you did in the morning. I personally despise what entertainment has become. Thank you for taking me back to those carefree days.
0:42 - This was a dig done at the BBC who on Thursday April 5th 1984 were hit by a strike which caused BBC One to be off air all day with a reduced schedule on BBC Two. This was the second time that BBC One was knocked off air due to a strike, the previous strike being in December 1978 when BBC One & BBC Two were off air for three days.

Credit to the graphic designer who managed to slip a subliminal LWT in the way the word Live was written in the titles. I bet _he_ drinks Carling Black Label.

Yes it was watched purey because nothing else was on and we didn't have choice, our lives were controlled by the BBC and the media. Anything unsavoury was ignored and swept under the carpet A fair portion of those so called good old respectable celebrities were arrested for some of the most heinous crimes years later
I have a question do you have any other episodes from live from her majesty's Picadilly or Palladium or is this the only episode you have can you please let me know thanks.
Pity no entertainment like this anymore when these fabulous shows were on.
thank f--k
Jimmy makes every joke funnier by saying "Do you know" at the end of every line. Brilliant

And a week later lost a legend of comedy on this same stage
Fabulous Glenn Campbell. What a fabulous voice and singer.

Cooperman and Blunderwoman have always been my favourites :)
the really sad thing was the 1 week later Tommy Cooper took his final bow on that very stage
In the days when people still had a sense of humour and could 'laugh' at themselves without being offended!
R.I.P. Glen Campbell & Dustin Gee.

Great show and theme tune. TV entertainment was so much better then. Loved the Russ Abbott/Dustin Gee skit. Dustin Gee was very underrated.
All those great songs from Glen Campbell !!! 👍🏻😀
Lots of well-known numbers, packed into His 10 minute performance !!! 😀
Great sketch Russ And Dustin Gee
What a super theme tune
Composed by the great Alyn Ainsworth.

I just loved this show in the 80s thank you so much for putting this on here as I have been looking for this for ages...
Really great! Great ending as well.
Me and my family really enjoyed watching this tonight. Thank you for uploading ❤️
My pleasure. Thankyou for your kind words..thats the reason why I wanted to upload the show. Take care. Lloyd
What a theme
Still the greatest opening titles that really built up the excitement of a live show
Long before the days when the likes of Simon Cowell ruined ITV
Simon Cowell is the King of crap talentless Talent Shows.
So true, worked at LWT at the time and as that music started played by that fabulous orchestra, the atmosphere in the theatre was electric.
Granada and Carlton are responsible for the naff ITV we have today
Great memories
Thanks for the upload. Do you have any further episodes of this?
Cleops sent me! Thanks for the upload, this was a good show
Glad you enjoyed!

Who is the singer in this Lulu duet?
& then for Glen to close the show, by playing the Pipes !! (Mind You, with the name Campbell, it should have come as no surprise really !!!) 👍🏻😀
It looks like Cleops has been removed or closed the account ..... can you say what happened ? Do you know ?
She was banned - and is sorely missed, as had one of the best channels on YT.
Glen Campbell: Studio Musician, multi-instrumentalist, sideman, singer/artist, and apparently - piper. What COULDN'T that man sing or play?
jeff stevenson dear me ffs
Gt CT
They won' catch Russ Abbott and bobby Davro fab
That was Les Dennis with him, not Bobby Davro.
Tarbuck the Tory.

Good grief…painful. “Of its time.” then….🙄🤔

Stop moaning fir gods sake. Its classic tv and funny
This is many classes above the crap we have today
If you like todays stuff ....then your remark is idiotic...
Jimmy tarbuck the most over rated comic if thats what you call him in showbiz
This was the last hurray of proper gags before the smarmy unfunny people like Ben Elton came along.
Good old racism. And homophobia.and he’s a scouser. Imagine if he had been on the receiving end. A claim and an enquiry.
This stuff wasn't and is still not funny 😮
Was Jimmy Tarbuck was just dire; was he ever funny?
never
