Finally Osprey is coming out with a more urban and minimal-looking backpack with smaller logos. However I'm not a fan of the interior lining color. As someone who uses AER and Able Carry a lot, I hope they make more minimal looking backpacks.
I like it, I think the uniqueness of the main compartment and admin part being reversed from most bag’s works really well together. It stops every thing just falling to the bottom of the bag. They missed a trick not putting an additional zip in the bottom /inside of the small front pocket the. You could open it from the inside when the front is flipped over!
Nice review! Seems like a full panel loading design in the main compartment would reduce the packing problem caused by loads in the admin pocket.
Thanks for watching! 😃
Wow, a bunch of unique features in this bag. It would have been better if that admin pocket been placed in the yoke position, similar to yoke pockets in some Evergoods bags, to relieve the main compartment of the constricted top area.
I just ordered this backpack off of Amazon with the intent to use it for everyday use as a college student. I have a large YETI cup with a handle that I think will fit nicely inti tho the large water bottle holder with the slit for its handle. Carrying around a lab apron, lab goggles, and a lunch box with me everyday, that large main pocket should be big enough to store those items. I love that it has a soft smaller pocket for my phone, wallet, and keys as they’re constantly getting lost in my current Herschel Supply Co. backpack. The laptop compartment should be perfect for my 13.6” MacBook Air and 11” iPad Pro. I have a few notebooks that will fit nicely into the other compartment as well. I love that it looks like it will stand up on its own as my current pack constantly is falling over. Hopefully this backpack will work for me, if not there is a 2 day free return policy from Amazon so I can try it out for a day to see if it works. I’m super excited for this!
There's an expression "Bang for your buck"
I reckon, to coin a phrase, Osprey offer a great "Bag for your buck"
They're well made, have a good warranty, look fine, carry well, last years and they're not outrageously priced. I like them.
Thanks for sharing your insights! 🤙 We agree.
Hi there, thank you for the excellent review! Do you know whether the "logo patch" on the front of the bag is leather?
I love that they'd put the Airspeed panel, which I think is Osprey's best, on a non-cyling backpack like the Radial, which PH reviewed a year or so ago). That said, it seems like the only reason to put the admin panel to the rear of the main compartment is to differentiate this bag from its Parsec 26 backpack, which aside from that placement & the water bottle pockets are almost the exact same bag. If that's not the case, it seems like they're trying to convince you to only pack small, flat items in the admin section whenever possible & use the main compartment for anything bigger than a small notebook.
good point about the parsec
The first zipper compartment is a bummer, almost perfect back pack meets such tragedy. Also wish it comes in 30L option like the Arcane Large and XL models, giving it a pass until version 2 comes along.
Very interesting layering of pockets by Osprey.
Anyone else found the background music a little distracting?
just me or is the audio quiet?
weird how it looks exactly like the peak design travel bag, except missing the very clever stowable shoulder straps
Looks a *little* too much like an Evergoods CTB 😐
What a deeply odd set of design choices.
What's so odd about it?
@@modigosmidig location of the admin panel makes it less useful.
I use this as my work bag. It works perfectly for that purpose. Favorite thing is the trampoline suspension, especially for the summer. (I also have a technical bag for day hiking).
My main gripe is needing something with a few extra liters for the winter months. I also wish there were load lifters.
I'll probably look into getting a 25 litter bag for the winter.
Could be a great backpack for light business trips. I wish they would’ve added the ability to compress the backpack with hidden zippers/buttons from the sides to turn it into a smaller laptop backpack when you’re going to the office after unpacking at the hotel (similar to the peak design backpack)
This is the main thing holding me back from pulling the trigger on ordering this. That and sternum straps would be nice.
Been looking for days now and just can't seem to find a pack that hits all of my requirements, it's always a tradeoff it seems - this one came so close though
@@Gavin-sk9gm the peak design backpack might fit the bill for you.
