There comes that point, when you start down the Ren rabbit-hole... that it just branches out exponentially and you see there's a whole warren here. Your mind blows and you're like _"Okay, this kid is Effing ridiculous!"_ ... a poet, lyricist, musician, artist, rapper, singer, director, actor, storyteller... that connects at every level. Excels at every facet of his art. He brings this raw brutal honesty. From the lyrics to his use of one-shot live takes and natural acoustics... his works just drips with authenticity and awareness from beginning to end. The kid is a true musical genius, and a national treasure.
As much as I love this version of Genesis, the live version is actually surprisingly even better! And Ren does the breakdown with his voice and it's just magical. Definitely check out the live version.
I knew you’d get this! Really pleased you liked it, man. For me it’s the best rap song I’ve heard in many years. He’s on it with this one. The pen, the beat, the flow - man is on another level. After ‘Hi Ren’ I was like “one trick pony? Let’s investigate”, nah he’s definitely not. His talent is obvious, just inspiring.
Yea he can do so many different things. I like how he doesn't stick to the same thing every song, and mixes it up. It keeps it fresh and keeps me guessing when I hear the next song. I never know what I'm going to get in terms of sound. In terms of subject matter, there is obviously a theme, but that's completely fair
Dude, you haven’t even scratched the surface. Check out his live busking performance with the Big Push of I Shot the sheriff/road to Zion/hip hop and also check out Ocean and also Insomnia and Depression
Just to add yet another string to Ren's bow. You should check out his street performances (busking) as a member of the band "The Big Push" I would suggest you should watch, The Big Push - I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop. It's an amazing performance by a supremely talented bunch of musicians and it showcases Ren's vocal abilities perfectly.
Another fun thing about all his songs is the way they often reference other tracks of his - sometimes ones that aren't even out yet so you don't realise there was a 'preview' until later (like with the Hi Ren bit in What You Want). I love the callback to Losing It in this one (the 'blat blat dead' em/beast mode bit). It reminds me that though his ouvre is so varied and may seem almost disparate to us at times, in his head it all ties together and is very deliberate. I heard a reactor say "that's probably a coincidence" about something in one of Ren's songs, but if I've learnt anything from watching his videos over the years, it's that nothing is coincidental, it's all carefully considered. That's where him being in control of the whole process from lyrics to production really shows, I think. Mainstream/commercial artists just can't pull that off because different people are responsible for each element and that fragments it.
That's a really good point about how he differs from the industry. Funnily enough, in NF's song Motto, the other reaction I uploaded today, this very topic is discussed. Yhe industry will sacrifice elements of creativity for analytics based decisions (for ex: make an artist replace a lyric for another one because stats show its going to drive more clicks). Independent artists take a bigger risk in the sense that there is no one to support them if their new idea or song falls flat, but in return they get to be 100% real and true to whatever their vision is.
You should check out *The Big Push (Ren) - Precious* ... That one shows yet another facet of his abilities. Some define Poetry as : _'Something which is Far greater than it's consisting parts'._ Ren seems to have mastered that art.
Have you watched the acoustic version of Genesis yet? Even if you don't do a reaction to it you need to watch and listen to it, you'll be in for a treat! and yes he does all the beats himself
If you need lyrics as you are listening, he usually (but not always) pins them as a comment on the video and you can pull that up on your phone to read along with. I would strongly urge you NOT to use the subtitles as they are never accurate and can actually spoil things (plot twists, etc.) in Ren's videos.
Love your reaction to this true genius ❤ Cheers 🍻 Reacters are gaining a lot of mileage out of Ren's content. It would be nice if you all encourage your followers to subscribe to his channel 🤔
One day I will do a reaction with her 😂. Idk if she would let me, because I got a huge light shining behind the camera and that would probably bother her. Up to her she's the boss
I don't know it makes no sense at all lol. She has 3 separate beds but would rather sleep on my blanket or in that tiny cat tree area ur talking about 😂
Genesis means the beginning - the book of Genesis refers to the origin of life. The book of Genesis describes the story of the great flood and Noahs ark. He mentions Noah being late for the ark, and Genesis is a part of art, pain, and truth. God wanted to destroy all life and start over because of sin and the mixing of the Nephilim and humans. Think that Noah was 600 years old when the floods arrived. Strange stories and history, but I think Ren is referring to the mystery of life even existing, Noah was late? We are just here by chance or by God's mercy?
Bone thugs and Harmony came up with that style the Omigos stole it claimed it and didn't do it as good.. Bone is the real deal check them out. And Ren is the real deal ..
Just cause
Noooo stop lol you've been generous enough!!!
