@3:15 why do you say you need to add a route to 10.10.20.0/24 rather than 10.10.20.2/24 ? Likewise, for Teal'c, wouldn't you want to route to 10.10.30.2/24 rather than 10.10.30.0/24?
Static routing is administratively configured, and the routes can't change unless the configuration is modified. Dynamic routing can change the routing table at any time based on input from other devices. One example of unwanted routing changes is BGP hijacking: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BGP_hijacking
if I am the user, with static router, do I write the address manually? or when i buy a static router, the router table is already fixed inside the router?
Stargate references through out the entire series I love it hahah
Keeps making me laugh because I'm the only person in my Boot Camp that caught that
I heard the Sam being a she ref first and that perked my ears, then there was the flat out Sam > Jack > Teal'c example and I just started giggling.
just wow this is still good after 3 years
Excellent video as always Professor. The quality of your content is unmatched. What software do you use for creating your topology?
thank u! helping me thru some college courses rn. subbed

Routes are set to the subnet address, not to individual device IP addresses.
@@professormesser Thank You
@1:58 "...static routing to be more secure because a dynamic routing protocol is not able to make changes" Seems contradictory/counterintuitive to me.

@@professormesser Good question and good answer.
A Route could change but maybe it's not the way you want it to.
