    I was very kindly sent some beautiful rare house plants from an Indonesian company called Greenspaces.ID ! I was so excited to open them and am so happy with what I received. This was my first time importing plants from Indonesia and I was slightly nervous about it. Some of the plants have had ups and downs but on the whole they're all healthy and doing well!

    Funny to see how rarity of plants is so dependant on what region you're from. I'm in Belgium and those alocasias are very easy to find here and fairly affordable (about 20 euros I think for a full plant?) as I'm pretty sure they are being mass produced in the Netherlands. Don't know how accessable Dutch webshops are now to the UK but that might be an option if you're on the look out for one.

    You put the crowns and leaf stems too deep in the water. That is why the leaves turns yellow and that one plant rotted. I’m sure they will do great now that they have soil as long as they are not planted too deep. Good luck. I enjoyed watching your excitement over the new plants. Great idea to paint the containers. They look great.

    I think (think!) I’ve mastered ALOCASIA. When I bring them home (or unbox them), I stay farrrr away from water. Dry (or slightly moist) soil or clean dry leca. Then I Dont water until it’s acclimated. It’s worked for all 23 of my Alocasias so far. Let me know how it turns out!

    I have to tell you the joy of long fancy nails (for me, at least)! I find that artificial nails make my real nails grow kinda straight out, giving me more space under the nail which makes it super easy to remove dirt that gets under there!

    Hi dear next time with the drangon scale just trim the roots and maybe clean them off, but you should pot it the same time you get it

    I always wanted a Dragon scale to add to my collection and never seen one locally in garden centres. Was walking home from town the other day and a small local plant shop had some sitting there outside for just ten pounds. Looks great, 5 big leaves. Hope yours gets on well too!

      @@TheJungleHaven I ordered a Philodendron gloriosum, a small Philodendron melanochrysum (that actually arrived really big!), an Alocasia sente variegated, a variegated burle marx, and a silver dragon Alocasia. All arrived perfectly aside from the silver dragon who lost 4/6 leaves :) definitely will order again soon (most likely using your code!)

    OH my goodness. The Silver Dragon breaks my heart. I am so sorry. I got mine about a week ago and it is absolutely my favorite right now. (Probably will be for a very long time!!!) It is stunning and huge. If anyone looking for one that lives in the US, I got mine from Wal Mart on line (Costa Farms) for $44.97 free 2 day shipping and it came in a lovely cover pot with a wooden stand. Well worth it. Claire, I am so sorry! 😔

    I considered myself to pot some plants up in pure pon, but i didnt have clear pots. How can you control the water reservoir with the nursery pots?

    • @TheJungleHaven
      @TheJungleHaven  2 роки тому +1

      I usually use clear pots too tbh with self watering planters. With nursery pots I tend to create a little reservoir of water at the bottom and just monitor it (when it's dried out for a few days I'll usually top it back up)

    • @TheJungleHaven
      @TheJungleHaven  2 роки тому +1

      In my experience so long as you use the correct amount and don't go overboard, it simply helps to deliver a boost of oxygen to the roots - I use it all the time to help acclimate my plants! 💚

    First of all let say I intend no criticism but why do you put imported plants in water for so long? It is not something I would feel safe in doing unless the plants are used to water culture.

    • @TheJungleHaven
      @TheJungleHaven  2 роки тому

      I often find that when plants arrive they can be very dehydrated, and it helps to ease them into their new environment and help them acclimate before potting them up. Using water for tropical plants that have been in transit for a while can also help them to overcome things such as cold damage faster and more effectively 💚
