Great video. I travelled Cathay from Sydney to London and return recently. Fantastic flights and great service. So much food. Our plane from London was delayed by about an hour and Cathay delayed the flight from Hong Kong to Sydney so that we could catch it. Will fly with them again.
I have travelled CX to HKG before covid, then onto Manila ,, I found that an excellent flight, Singapore still the best I had,, have travelled Phili, 3 times, Thai air , Maylasian ,, the worst flight was Qatar I never again go Qatar
Awesome trip report. It seemed to be a great flight with CX. It's weird that this B777-300ER doesn't have air vents because most of them are equipped with air vents. However, I notice your table wasn't clean...
Thanks for your comment! It was undoubtedly a pleasant flight, but I expected a little bit more from a 5 star ranked airline, compared to others at the same ranking. Regarding the air vents, also on my return flight operated by 777-300ER, I didn’t find them. I tried to clean the table but the stain didn’t go away.
Recline is not restricted even on the last rows. They are like the other seats. The good point is that there is nobody behind you so you don’t bother anyone.
@@NikiSvaizer i think because the departure area in the US aren't sterile like any other airports which they have no exit checkpoint, sometimes you can see that international & domestic flights are departing together in one gates.
CX cabin services used to quite good and cabin crew used to be proud to work for the airline. Too bad the company used the pandemic as an excuse to not only cut jobs, but also cut wages and benefits massively. The entry hourly pay is insultingly low, even lower than the minimum wage in the UK. It’s poor management that leads to the decline of service quality.
I feel so sorry to read that. I actually noticed that the cabin service was not top notch as I expected from a 5 star airline. Most of the cabin crew were behaving a bit robotic and as if they wanted to complete the service as quickly as possible. I was aware that CX had to cut several jobs due to the pandemic, but I didn't know that the company also cut wages and benefits. For sure, this condition does not make you work with a natural smile for sure. I hope that the situation will improve soon.
Hmm I have seen about 3 vlogs about Cathay in the last week. All very positive no complaints. Most recent was a fourteen hour between San Francisco and Hong Kong, economy class. I did notice during the pre flight announcement a " Happy New Year" was wished. Might have had some hung over or wishing with family crew.
The lack of space is the biggest problem, which doesn’t allow the airport to expand. T5 and T2 are the newest and well-designed terminals, however the connection between the terminals is still made with buses, which is not the most comfortable way to move.
I also don't think 9 years is a long time. I flew Qantas a lot and I flew with their 747 to Japan before they discontinued. Would you think that 747 was possibly younger than 10 years old. It wasn't cheap though. I even flew by business. Except the seat could be turned to a bed, I didn't see much different of services from economy. I flew premium economy with Virgin Atlantic quite about 10 years ago. I would say the seat was better than economy but the service was even worse than economy. I flew with Cathay quite few times in the recent year and the service is ok. May not be very outstanding but won't be worse than Qantas or Virgin.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Cathay!
My family where stationed with the Royal air force some years ago I loved Hong Kong Chinese people are so friendly and kind 😂😅😊😊😊
Grandissimo video Niki!
Come sempre d’altronde. Un abbraccio
Grazie mille! ☺️
🐝 years ago to Hong Kong from Heathrow airport then
Really enjoyed my trip from Oz to Lon. Cathay was fantastic. Great food & service. Hk airport was incredible so big. Will fly Cathay again.
Thank you for your comment!
Great trip report! I need to fly with cathay one day!
Thank you!
I’m glad that you travelled to Hong Kong because I am from Hong Kong 🇭🇰
Thanks for your comment! Actually I travelled to HK twice this year, the first time with QR and the second time with CX on a longer journey to Taiwan.
i from hong Kong too
The flight before the Kaohsiung one
(nice vid, im waiting for CX233)
Yes correct! 👍

Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your flight with Qatar, I've always had good experience instead.
Airfares have dropped slightly this year but still expensive. I hope Cathay tickets get cheaper next year. Travelling with them very soon.
They are still under recovery after the pandemic. I expect their prices will decrease in the coming years.

good trip report

Welcome
CX needs to constantly improve their service as competition from SQ, JL, NH is very strong.
They cannot rest on their laurels.
I completely agree with you. They are going to refurbish their hard products on 777, however I believe they need to improve also their soft products.
another wonderful flight report Niki.Cathay had real tough times with the pandemic but they are recovering nicely
Thank you so much for your comment! Yeah me too, I’m glad that CX is recovering after the pandemic.
Thanks for sharing! I’ve booked the exact same seat for my upcoming trip next year so was wondering if the recline is restricted or not?

Amazing video!

You are welcome.
CX vs BA from London to HK, which do you prefer?
I’ve never flown on BA on long-haul, so I cannot tell you, but probably I would prefer CX.
BA needs significant improvement and to show more courtesy to Asian travellers
That’s not even a competition. CX all the way.
for this nice video
Thank you!

@shinecastor5080 Thank you! ☺️
what software map did you point out from Heathrow to Hong Kong?
I use a feature of iMovie and include it in Final Cut Pro.
Why in UK the international transit is still allowed but US doesn't?
Good question, in US you still need to go through custom clearance and re-check your luggage.

can you share how tall you are? I am flying in Economy JFK-HKG, and I am fairly tall, so was curious how it was for long haul.
I’m 180cm tall.
Welcome to KHH
Thank you!
Do you like and love go to Hong Kong?I am from Hong Kong.

Heathrow has to be one of the most badly designed airports in the World.
The lack of space is the biggest problem, which doesn’t allow the airport to expand.

Boeing 777-300ER B-KQQ MSN 41762 (9.5 years) is old plane and Cathay charges you more than BA, no worth it.
Cannot say that a less than 10 year old plane is old… BA has older planes in its fleet.
Says someone who clearly doesn't understand the value of service quality

What's the excuse for the engine on fire?
Cathay Pacific's A350-1000 engine on fire. The plane is less than 9 years old, a new plane. why?
Worst flight I've been in my entire life: B777 is too cramped to be honest.
I always prefer to fly on A350 instead of 777 if I can choose.
