The end of Matt Ryan’s career couldn’t have been any sadder
Should have happened 2 years ago. His decline was evident then.
@@Justin-bo5pg it sucks cause he almost had a super bowl to his name. At least that would’ve been really cool for him
Dan Marino would like to disagree.
Getting paid 35+ million over the next two years.. could be sadder ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Wouldn’t be surprised if This ends up happening to Brady and or Rodgers too this season
A retirement of a single player has never ruined an organization more than Andrew Luck
it’s definitely not lucks fault though like draft a damn quarterback

@@chxrrylimx8475 they did. And he's wearing #4.
Peyton manning says hello
Similar to Peyton's retirement with the Broncos, although completely different in that we knew it was coming and still messed up the succession
If anything this should tell everyone how great Phillip Rivers really was
biggg facts
For real, hes the only one i wish we had given a 2nd year to
Who
@austin singleton don’t forget the line was way better with rivers than when Wentz got there. They had a retirement and Nelson got hurt and honestly hasn’t looked as dominant since
@@kylemorse346 the line was great last year with wentz 😂
"Don't cry that it's over, smile because it happened" I'm in stitches 😂😂.
Phrase of the year
😂😂😂
Remember when these dudes cheered and mocked Wentz when signing Ryan. Pepperidge farms remembers.
Ryan still better than Wentz lol. At least wentz had a run game.
To be fair everyone assumed colts o line wasn’t going to lose its steam this year, that’s a big reason y Matt Ryan hasn’t panned out, when he’s had protection he puts up numbers
Hell na he not lol y’all delusional lol. Wentz didn’t get benched 🤣🤣🤣
@@malvo5190 The oline was even worse last season. They were almost dead last in pass blocking.
@@malvo5190 the o line couldn't pass block last year and they didn't address it. Thats on them.
I'm sad for Matty Ice, but he just couldn't stop giving the ball away.
Edit: people wanted context. Yes, I know he's been hurt. Yes, I know our O-line sucks and that the running game can't get it going. That's why I'm sad for him. It's not completely his fault. However, he made a bunch of rookie mistakes in some interceptions. Sure, frustration leads to mistakes, and the O-line being Swiss cheese leads to those mistakes. But I'd take a good 4th and 20 and a punt that leaves the other team at their 20 rather than throwing an interception that leaves us inside our 20. Turnover machine due to the circumstances surrounding him.
Context matters
@@falconhoward4032 Absolutely.
good observation
He’s always been more of Matt’s Luke Warm.
He's been playing hurt ....
Fans be so hyped for backups until they actually see them play.
But when one hits!!!! No better feeling lol.
Honestly he cant be worse than Ryan at this point
@@Skyevr1215 Didn’t know 9 TDs and 9 INTs was bottom of the barrel but if it is, there are a handful of other QBs around the league that would like a word Lol
@@Skyevr1215 He absolutely can. lol. Ryan just threw for 400 yards last week. You think the Colts oline is all of the sudden not going to suck? Ehlinger has a mediocre arm and zero pocket presence.
It's a win-win. He's either really good and we found a guy or at least a very serviceable backup with game experience or he's terrible, we find out he's not the guy, and hopefully get a top 6-7 pick. It doesn't matter how he does, this year is done.
As a Colts fan, I just wanted to say I'm a Colts fan
As a Colts fan, I agree
Stunning and brave
And as a chiefs fan I also agree you are a colts fan
Let's go colts
Big if true
Pat about literally any QB the Colts pick: “This could be the guy!!” 😅
Pat was just as optimistic about Matt. Nothing wrong with it but we all know how these things work out.
Yea when its your team you got to look at it Matt's way! But will probably end up horrible and in comes Foles for the season. Texas QB don't usually look very good in the NFL regular season. Foles will be better than Ryan.
Na, Pat caught some heat when he was saying that they shouldn’t go for Matty Ice/borderline flaming him prior to them trading for him, so he had to fake it a bit
@@GB-rv8im Frank Reich won't be bringing in Foles. Frank Reich will be joining him watching the game from his couch. Dude is done.
Colts will still suck but he won't be coaching
AND Wentz
Matt Ryan is better your tripping
Matt Ryan is second in the league in passing yards and has 3 come from behind victories this year, including one against the chiefs (2 game winning TDs)…a move needed to made due to all the turnovers, but he’s not as bad as everyone making him out to be. The o-line caused this, bc it exposed his lack of mobility
Doubt you gave Wentz that same courtesy
It didnt expose anything. Man is a pocket passing, traditional QB, has been from Day 1 basically, and now he is 37. Everyone knew what Indy was getting in that regard. The Colts just failed to handle what that comes with. Keep the damn man on his feet and off his back, good things will/have happen(ed). The line hasn't even enabled Taylor to do anything this season other than GM 1.
Matt was lured to Indy on the promises of a great offensive line in front of him and one of the best rushing attacks. He was promised a more complimentary/game manager role instead of having to try carrying the offense week to week and win games in the 4th Qtr. He is the one who has certainly gotten bamboozled. Lol
Wentz started 3-5 last year matt Ryan 3-3-1 through 7 matt Ryan is better he was MVP and played in super bowl Carson wentz only had a good 11 game run not far away from when Matt Ryan did it and Matt Ryan had a better season because he was great every single game that year and lost to Brady in super bowl because of his coaching and defense.
He can’t evade pass rushers so they gonna beat his ass
@@MME_Q7 he did the same stuff in Atlanta yeah he has his great moments but once again decision making is coming into play just like with russel Wilson
Sam could throw a pick every single play and he will continue to be loved here in Indy. “The world needs Sam Elingher.” It’s absolutely true
hey can you fill me in on why indy rlly likes him?
@@garrisonsides We just do. Kid is good. He was a lot of the reason Texas was relevant in 2018-2019.
@@garrisonsides I think it has a lot to do with A: how he’s played in PreSeason and B: our QB play has kind of stunk since we drafted him and we just got use to saying “put Sam in!” Every Sunday. It’s one of those things, we just like him. He seems like a pretty good kid and i keep hearing “he just wins”. I’m excited to see if he’s the future or know that we need a future and it’s not here

The problem in Indy isn't the QB. It's the O-line and the OC. They won't be able to win no matter who they start.
I swear the colts could announce me as the starting QB and pat would hype it up🤦
He is a fan. Second to none
Matt Ryan and Cam Newton. 2 NFC South quarterbacks that both won MVP and lost a superbowl, and had a disastrous end to their careers.
Two all time greats. 2010's football would be nothing without Matty Ice and Cam.
As a Falcons fan, that SB 51 loss was crushing that was our year.
Same thing happened in Atlanta. Ryan never really had protection. Hard to make plays when you are getting hit before you can even complete your drop back.
If there’s one thing we can’t do in Atlanta is block
@@evanschneider2947 you got that right.
Last time Atlanta had a decent O-line was 2018 and Ryan put up MVP numbers.
@@sabishiihito his numbers the last few years have been top 3-5 in tge league. But because of record, he never got a look at MVP.
GM and staff said that he can't make throws. Always making excuses for that bum, he CAN'T make throws because he's washed. Hope this helps.
Whatever happened to the vaunted O-Line we were constantly hearing about? It seems as those f'ers are getting people fired
Thats what i am saying. They had them ranked all high. All this garbage hype for the Colts super O line. Fans were saying he is going to be super protected unlike the falcons. Looks like de ja vous
We didn't resign Glowinski or Reed, no starting LT. Who would have thought the 3rd round rookie tackle wouldn't be rock solid? Bargain Bin Ballard strikes again
It is not going to matter who plays qb if they’re on their back every time they drop back. I really hope that Sam surprises people, but I’m not expecting a miracle turnaround for this team. The issues are deeper than QB for the Colts
True statement!
At least Sam can evade the rush, Ryan, not so much
I can’t even name another wide receiver from the team Michale Pittman Jr and well the colts have many issues to work out going into the off season
@scott sanders that’s why Wentz was always scrambling for his life to extend plays and they all blamed him saying the line is so good he shouldn’t be running around.. guess we know what it really was. Irsay owes Wentz an apology, literally blamed it all on him and Matt Ryan had more INT’s and fumbles in the first 7 games than Wentz had all year for the colts
@@captainmarvelous1221 Paris Campbell? Mike Strachan?
Philip Rivers, Carson Wentz now Matt Ryan. Sounds like Irsay is calling the shots
Phillip Rivers at least still had some juice and could perform. I never understood the Carson hype and I felt like Matt Ryan would be a bust. As a broncos fan, I’ve seen this enough in the past seven years to know what’s coming.
The Superbowl fiasco took the life out of Ryan. Ehlinger does bring an energy to the team that they haven't had for a long time.
Thank GOD my team the Falcons traded him. We are about to be number 1 in the NFC South
Finally. Give Ehlinger a chance. Kid is good. He's got that old school gun slinger mentality. As a Sooners fan, I hated playing Ehlinger when he was at Texas
Colts have been rotating QBs for years now. The rest of the team is crumbling. Sad for the franchise. Obviously this means nothing(or that they're tanking intentionally)
@@weatheredseeker Every team goes through this. It's not new. Yeesh.
He might have that mentality, but his arm is mediocre at best. No zip on his passes. There's a reason he was a 6th round pick.

I was SO happy this news broke during the show because it means so much more when it's live. The boys were HYPED!!!
They really are saying matt ryan give his body like carson wasn't doing that all year last year and had less turn over with way more games
As a horns fan, you just gave me flashbacks saying “we’re baaaack” with Sammy being the starter 😢😂 Hope he balls out, can’t wait for another longhorn SuperStar somewhere!
Or cam newton saying he was back after one touchdown
hook em he's just a winner we just couldn't develop talent
The develop talent part is true.
It's been a yearly theme. Get behind, throw 40+ times, qb gets beat up, start running more, and finishing season hot. Maybe a couple of years where we missed out at the end, but the rest is pretty spot on.
Big Sam! Couldn't think of a more deserving guy, lost his brother and dad in the course of the last few years and still kept trucking. He's gonna come in and be clutch just like he was for the longhorns. Hook 'em
No consolation prizes, you have it or you don’t or your wasting everyone’s time. Beat players win super bowls a la chiefs and buccaneers
Man I completely forgot about that tragedy. The fact that Sam is still in the league working towards this is inspiring
LMFAO remember when the Colts and Broncos were supposed to be Super Bowl teams? I remember 🤣🤣
10 games left! 🤷♂️

@@1Learn2Swim3 don't you mean the navy seal/ scientist/Surgeon/ Tom Brady 4.0 lmaooo. Can't believe the owner and head coach said all that just for him to have 9 picks lmaoo
Only Colts fans thought Carson was the problem last year. Dude did the best he could with what he had to work with. No QB is going to be successful behind that horrendous oline and lack of receivers.
@@brandondillman5841 I'm a colts fan wanted to keep Wentz but the owner blamed him for everything didn't look at the #2 receiver was a special teams player
@@brandondillman5841 I agree Wentz wasn't the problem he actually had good numbers

Not so fast! 🤘🏼
At least Sam can run 🤷
This season has been wild.
Cooper kush 🤣🤣🤣 pat you should name a strain that!!!! 🌳🌳🌳
Matt Ryan was best offensive player for the Titans yesterday 😂😂😂
This is Frank trying to keep his job by scapegoating Matt. Matt's turnovers are an issue but to be honest so is throwing the ball more than any team and not playing to Matt's strengths. Matt's biggest strength is his anticipation. Hard to anticipate when you are getting sawed in half 20 times a game in 2 seconds.
Can't tell me it isn't scapegoating because they announced the benching before the injury. Ryan is under the same bus Wentz got drove on.
I've been waiting for this, should have started Sam awhile ago. He has intangibles, he's mobile, he's tough, and he can make plays. He was a winner at Texas. And the best way for him to learn is by getting game time experience, not on the sidelines.
I'm confused what he won in Texas lol
A winner at Texas? Didn't Texas underperform majorly while he was there? In 2019, when he had some Heisman chatter, the team went 8-5; in 2020, 7-3. After his senior year, the head coach was fired. You're talking about a 6th round pick. I mean, maybe he'll be great ... but it wouldn't have been that surprising if Ehlinger *never* started a game in his career. I'm not sure how you get to "he should've been starting a while ago."
What did he win? He trash
Betting on rookies as saviors is not a great idea
So Ryan is the answer? What have the colts got to lose? It can't get much worse, so why not? I know college football and the NFL are different, but how do you know how Sam will do. Ryan is done. He can't throw the ball more than 20 yards it seems like. Teams know that, and they are effectively shutting down this offense that clearly can't move the ball downfield. Ryan is throwing to players that ain't open, and yesterday one player wasn't looking for the ball because he had not finished his route. Ryan is a sitting duck in the pocket, not able to avoid the pass rush at all. Sam has a stronger arm, and he is more mobile. Our playbook can be more dynamic with him. How can he turn the ball over more than Ryan already has? I think he might be able to give this team a spark. I also think colts fans will mostly welcome him as the starter. I value all your opinions, but this is my opinion. We will see what happens, but I'm excited that Sam will get a chance because right now, this offense isn't getting the job done.
Tbh what I need is our O-Line to be what it should be. Big Q is great but we need more from everyone, him included
I wanna see Nick Foles play again. Forever grateful for the ring in Philly.
Insane that he isn’t getting a chance
He is trash, no please. Glad ehlinger is starting
@@panditas7679 look up the years outside of Philadelphia he’s played for and tell me-who would have succeeded in those situations? The Jeff Fischer led Rams? The Matt Nagy led Bears? The Doug Marrone led Jaguars? Lmaoooo
Foles is a trash can, dude sucks every where he goes. He only good for 1 -2 years in his life(that being said he was on teh eagles)
Nick beat Brady on the biggest stage. Put good players around him and he is good. Players and coaches all like him. He's a good guy. That superbowl win was awesome. He will help Sam also with his veteran experience.
Go back and watch Sam at Texas. Tough and mobile. Ran a ton. I'm a diehard Longhorn fan and have been waiting for this. All Sam ever did was win at Texas under a ton of adversity. WOOT! GO SAM!

@@texgarrett7158 George #1 an just won National championship but congrats on sugar bowl trophies
Which Bowl games? I don't recall
Sam Ehlinger is the Indy version of Kenny Pickett
ya'll have no god damn patience for these QBs who have had exactly three tries at an NFL game lol. It's called giving them a chance to grow
@@DanielMustang47 I'm talking about their fan support, not their play
I knew this would happen he didnt look himself last year and I knew he wouldn't be anywhere close to an upgrade over Wentz
Maybe the Colts will actually remember to run the ball to relieve some pressure on Ehlinger
Indy is the demolition derby version of QB pergatory. STILL havent figured out that your guy needs protecting, even after 2019.
T H I S.
I'm not saying he's wrong, but the "fact" that this came directly from Jim Irsay I believe, is a bad sign for the Colts. An owner who tends to have quick and drastic reactions having his hands in the team so much is not good. See Jerry Jones.
The Thought of Carson getting benched last year wasn’t even a thought
As a Colts fan, all I can say is “maybe next year”.
You guy thought he was the guy lmaooo should have just stayed with carson wentz
The Colts are trading for Russel Wilson next year.
Then they’ll trade for Jared Goff.
Then they’ll trade for Jacoby Brisset.
Then they’ll trade for the next expired starting QB of the year prior.
Hey, if it hasn’t worked yet, it’s bound to work eventually right?
The rest of the team has crumbled around this QB carousel. And it seems like Irsay is getting too involved
I think the best thing about this is Matt Ryan seems like the guy, despite losing the starting job, to take Sam under his wing and teach him everything he can.
Considering what the Colts did to Manning, I’m completely fine with the circus that has befallen this franchise. Not only did Peyton go to two SB’s with his new team-winning one-but your QB of the future retired because you couldn’t protect him, and it’s been a laughable series of misfortune since then.
Karma sucks. 🤷🏻♂️
He is hurt but Reich said "Sam is the starter for the rest of the season "
I laughed so hard at how excited Pat was to have Matt Ryan lmaooooo
In a game featuring two guys coming off the bench, I believe Carson Wentz will manage to steal the spotlight by tearing his ACL on the sidelines.
...........and then the Redskins, errrrr, Commanders will ruin his career by putting a brace on it and making him play!!!
feel bad for ryan but man we needed this
i wanted sam to start since the beginning of the season
Energy is noticeably different for Ryan than for Wilson
*EVERY FAMILY HAS SOMEONE WHO BREAKS THE CHAIN OF POVERTY IN THAT FAMILY,I PRAY YOU BE THE ONE*
I'm a fan of Matt Ryan, but he's just not the same QB that made a career in Atlanta. I've been screaming for Ehlinger since week 2.
Matt Ryan went to school right near where I grew up, along with Matt Schaub, I wish him nothing but the best, as the dude played the game right. It’s a bummer he doesn’t get a super bowl due to his teams epic collapse.
Woo maybe we can get Matty Ice as Trey Lance's backup next year.
Shanahan is constantly signing his previous players. So wouldn’t be surprising.
As a Longhorn . Sam will give you everything!🤘🏽
Was waiting for this moment pat's reaction
Remember when pat thought Matt Ryan was better than Carson Wentz
You think fragile ol Carson would've lasted two games this year behind our shiddy o-line?
@@rmac8645 well he is going through washington's o-line rn so im guessing he would survive
Was 100% certain UA-cam would know this is the reaction I’d want to look up when I got off work. I was right, it was the first video recommended lol.
The decision was made two weeks ago. They didn't pull him, because it was 2 straight, "need to win", division games.
I guarantee Irsay said after the Broncos fiasco, "that's it! We're done with this!", and Ballard and Reich calmed him down, telling him they need these next two and they can't just throw Elinger in there right now.
After the Jaguars game, I'm sure Irsay said, "OK, if he plays like this next week, we'll roll with it, but if he puts up one more stinker, We're done with it!".
I was calling for Elinger after week three. It was obvious by then, Ryan just didn't have any gas left in the tank. His arm is shot, can't make the throws, and can't move.
We would have been in better shape, both record wise, and money wise, had they just signed The train wreck from Cleveland, Baker Mayfield. A bad attitude diva, is easier to work around, than a statue with no arm left. Would have been $18MM Cheaper, could have let him go after only one year, with no dead cap money, and Elinger would still have been there to take over if that failed.
Ballard is the weak link for this team. The dumb decisions he makes EVERY year is killing this franchise. Reich is doing the best he can, with what little Ballard gives him to work with.
I don't want to hear, "but he got Nelson, and Taylor." Those where no brainers. He also let Glowinski go, and has refused to do anything about the left tackle position, while paying the line top $, when there is two HUGE holes on said line. We only have 1 WR. Peirce is showing up, but he's still another year away from being great.
This team is a mess, and Ballard shoulders that responsibility.
The take that our second year, 6th round pick who was the third string QB on the depth chart 2 weeks ago is gonna suddenly allow us to open up the play-calling/offense is hilarious
What pick was Tom Brady
@@courtlandsmock110 like that means anything. “What pick was who is widely considered the greatest to ever play the game?” Such an outlier😂 how about check the average % on 6th round QBs becoming franchise guys. That gives you a better idea of the reality. That being said he did have a good preseason and supposedly made strides in areas the coaches asked him to train at during the off season. If his arm got a little stronger and he doesn’t rely on hero ball, he could be pretty good. I watched him in college and didn’t think he was anything crazy but I’m rooting for him
You know that Sam will get cooked by that O-line, right? If your QB spends half of the game on his back because your playcall is horrible, the QB change won't save him from the same fate.
@@pedromoreira2875 that’s literally what I said dude
I think there might be a serious problem with the colts. You have had a solid defense, o-line, and rb. ALSO you have TOP tier talent that some other teams would kill for at qb, Luck,Wentz,Rivers,Ryan!! Like seriously wtf is their problem the colts are a dumpster fire, while the titans have been kickin ass n taking names with Tannehil.
What happened to Jim Irsay saying Matt Ryan was the best thing ever since getting rid of Carson Wentz?? He labeled Matt’s leadership the same as Payton Manning… but that’s not on the field play now, is it??

Neither is Ryan
Wentz was not THE problem, but he was A problem. He was bad at philly, bad at indy, and is bad in washington. But you can't blame wentz entirely when the Colts FO gave up a FIRST ROUNDER for him. That was a problem too.
“Right now the move is for Sam Ehlinger to be the starter for the rest of the season” - Frank Reich per Field Yates
Pros and cons of Colts' starting Sam Ehlinger for rest of season
Samuel George Ehlinger is an American football quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. He played high school football at Westlake in Austin, Texas, where he broke various school records held by Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Drew Brees and Nick Foles,
