@Izzy’s Toy Time!!!! The reason why the Santa Fe is slower is because you are using a DC controller. That means you can only run one engine at a time. If you want to get two running at once, I suggest getting a DCC controller and engines. While they are expensive, they are *so* worth the money. If you want to add a DCC Chip to your engines, you can google to see if they are compatible.
To run 2 locomotives like that on the same track look into investing in the dcc bachman controller that's what I use and I have the exact same yard boss set

But you’ll never know if someone doesn’t care about being realistic. But a good reason to limit speeds is because you could wear out the motor a lot faster.

I have had this experience with my n scale but the Bachman couplers don’t move freely so is you buy higher quality couplers the will connect when you push them together
