Amazing as always, " Far of memories drifting like spices on the trade winds...vast ocean's of memories, adventure & nostalgia. He inspired and informed me from 14yrs old when I was lucky enough to be turned onto the great man by an old Hippy friend many years ago. So ahead of his time..a prophet. Rest Old Bill.
Mind. Blown.🙃
thank you
"and grey fog drifted through the cafe...
the deadly silence-virus."
A little too close to home...
@boyd1955 The fact that the film added something to it for you, shows that you were not Burroughs target audience. Beat, stream of consciousness fans. You have to both let go of the structure, plus put it together at the same time. Those that get it get it, those that don't, don't. But isn't all art like that? I can crap on your favorite artist I'm sure with very well structured arguments, but they mean nothing in the face of art. They have no force on it's impact to individuals.
Testify, brother. Testify.
I loved Burroughs ... He was a great rare american eccentric ... However a lot of his work was really not that great apart from as experiments ... Some of which worked ... Most of which didn't ... His writing is really a sprawl with occasional wonderful poetic sections ... There's loads of ideas ... But delivered in such a way as to only read by people who already believed in his ideas ... The only thing WB's writing ever helped change was censorship laws
OmgAWd it'S LiKE sO rAnDom. lol reads like a bored girls live journal.
Well I think Nova Express is a sprawling mess of nothingness ... There was no point in that book ... The film adds something to it at least
