Holy shit this is prescient! Uncle Bill really *was* a prophet, he really *was* a shamen...He truly saw things that the great percentage of us do not. Utterly remarkable. A legend, and I do not say that lightly.

Accident or no, he did kill his wife. Technically, he perhaps didn't *murder* his wife, but that distinction doesn't remove the bullet from her head.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you don't like violence why don't you just ask the defense department to send a Peacekeeper (MX) to his hometown. Then you won't have to worry about any person in St. Louis betraying your nice serene sense of moral dignity ever again. Mabye you could write a made for TV memoir about it afterwards, a lifetime special, Upright Citizen's Nukin and Dukin for God volume 1.

It's from The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, created by Allen Ginsberg (and others) in JK's memory at Naropa University, Boulder, Colorado. Anne Waldman still leads the summer school there-I went from the UK in 2014.

The audience is laughing like it's a joke...what he is speaking is entirely true...must be a bunch of lousy, dumb kids. Much of his work was satirical, but when he spoke plain, solid truth, he spoke plain, solid truth.

I get you Greg, yet Bill actually had a wonderful sense of humor. Listen to his inflections as he plays to the audience... He was seriously an hilariously, salacious and fallacious malcontent!

Greg Tallent I didn't get any vibes of an audience that was laughing off cue, yet I wonder if it's not you, who may have missed the wit contained therein, of those truths? Maybe.... I would have to give it a second listen, but the laughs I heard seemed to be on cue. Oh well. ;)

I was actually just listening to this for the 100th time or so, and thinking about how this audience really gets it. Sure it’s true in some sense. It’s also hilarious in some sense. But hey, it’s all sense. My sense, your sense. Who cares.

Cobain wanted Burroughs as the old man in the Heart Shaped Box video, even going so far as to offer to blur his face out, but nothing came of that. I woke up with Poppy's "Let's Make a Video" stuck in my head and this pops up first in my recommended list. I love what Burroughs is saying. Forget about how you appear to others, or even to yourself, and set up your life the way you want it to play out. Even your past. Push your past aside, put it in the bloopers reel, or rewrite your life so much that people remember you differently.
Memory is just an image. The screen is just an image. "Death to the image. Hail the new flesh."
