@@azenyr Cool. Thank you very much for making the video. The honest truth is I've been riding motor bikes since I was 12 and I'm 56 now. This is the very 1st helmet I bought. I'm a retired Sheriff's Deputy and have been to dozens of motorcycle accidents. Some just lost their teeth all over the road some were truly exploded everywhere. You could smell the alcohol from the blood in the air. People are idiots and getting worse. I'm wearing a helmet from now on. Thanks bro. Stay safe out there.
@deputy1968 true. Most bike accidents involve either idiot car drivers, or idiot bike drivers, or both. Bikes are not unsafe if you drive them decently. Im young and I have a sports bike but I learned to expect other drivers to do illegal things, and it saved me many times. I never think "oh he will not turn into my lane because that would be illegal". NO! he WILL turn into your lane. So expect it to happen, slow down and prepare to brake. He didnt turn? Nice, move on. He did? Oh yes, you got prepared and stopped safely. This saved me many times. Bikers need to think that the stupidest thing will probably happen, every time. And not speed on roads that are dangerous to do it. Slow down inside cities god dammit. Traffic is completely unpredictable inside cities. Anyway, I didn't make the video so you dont need to thank me of anything. I'm just a random guy that left a comment here, but thank you ahah
@@azenyr I take the same view. Maybe more extreme because of my lack of wearing helmets all these years and seeing so many bad bike accidents. My mindset is this, everything and everyone is out to kill me. I have a mint 2013 Yamaha Raider S. Chromed to the max. I have less than 8000 miles on it. It's terrible but to think my way is almost taking a lot of the enjoyment out of riding. I need to find a happy medium or I might as well just store it. A couple things I have learned you can share with everyone. It's your insurance policy on the bike. The two most critical issues are these two. You must have the max of uninsured motorist in money. The number one is UNDER INSURED motorist coverage. Once the person who hits you comes up with no insurance you will need to fall onto your own insurance. I have progressive which is the best in my opinion. Max out on those two options. Find out what the cost of repairs on your bike cost. I have everything maxed out on my insurance policy. It's worth every penny. Like $350.00 a year. It's a must. In an accident with a person with no or under insured motorist liability it will wreck your life. You (the insured) will be stuck with ALL the medical bills. The other uninsured driver has nothing to try and sue for. You might as well hit your head against the wall. You'll get nothing from them. One more thing is this. Get Aflac. One policy I had was if your hurt and out of work, Aflac will pay you for every day I was off work. I made thousands of dollars after a drunk driver ran thru the back of my squad car. Something to think about from someone who knows. (:
I appreciate this kind of review since you have had this helmet for awhile. That way I know what I'm getting into before I take the plunge and buy this helmet. 👍

@@manybikes Forgot to ask: how does the side mount on the visor plate holds? Those videos get shaky and is the plate secure well enough for the cam to not come off accidentally? Thanks!
The visor side plates snap on and do not take too much pressure to "pop off"... I would NOT mount a camera to the side plates. I mounted to the helmet shell and it works well, but only because I have a unique mount called the SUREWO Aluminum Ball Joint Mount,360 Degree Swivel Mount Arm Mount with Aluminium Wrench Compatible with GoPro. This mount makes it easy to get the proper angle. I am currently running it on the visor... and like it a lot! Thanks for watching. - Kyle

I’m not gonna lie you’re one brave dude cruise through the middle of traffic especially when those two guys were racing people are so unpredictable be careful
Not sure brave is the word i'd use. To each his driving style so i aint gonna knock but this driving style expects a whole lot from other traffic. Showing up from blind spots at 20+ mph speed difference and just inches from the cars. It's a bit too reckless for me and unneceseraly confronting towards other people. One thing that did rub me the wrong way is the comments made towards other drivers "woah texting and driving" when you're inches from their car with a complete empty lane to your left. And "that guy almost turned in but then he looked" eventhough you're the one nearly invisible riding on the line 95% of the time and dodging in and out of traffic. So please use position 1 and 2 aswell to help your fellow road users in not hitting you or accept that other people are just as flawed as you are. I have no problems with riders who have this driving style but they usually tend to be the same people who are hyper focussed on everyone elses shortcomings while overlooking their own. Please dont be that guy. If not for yourself then for the reputation/image shared by all us riders.

It is coated with an Anti-Fog and it works really well. Watch my Olaf Snowman video and yo can see the little bit of fogging. But those conditions were extreeme.
I have this helmet, measured about a MD (58cm) and got a Large. STILL the Large barely fits. Kinda hurts my ears taking it off. So if went to my shop and tried the XL. It fit much better, still snug with no gaps. So I'm going to exchange mine for the XL
I think it might be your head shape... do you have a more round head? This helmet is long oval and fits longer front to rear and narrower side to side. I’m a 56 cm and the small fits me perfectly.
@@manybikes you know, after doing more research IN THE MANUEL. Lol I realize it's likely the cheek pads you can replace for a bigger size. I just now took them off to determine if my actual headshape was right with the Large. And it fits great. Great review. First time seeing your videos. In Michigan, you can't split lanes. Besides, I have an '83 Goldwing, it makes me cringe when I see you get so close to traffic. I hadn't heard of the helmet cleaning spray, though I typically just wash my pads.
Dan Stark thanks for your comment Dan. Growing up in CA, it’s all I’ve known. I put 125k miles on my 2006 Goldwing and 50 miles per day were lame splitting. Believe it or not... the handle bar width of the Wing & other. Cruiser bikes are the same... but it is a little more intimidating. Thanks for watching!!
I get it. I was trying to listen to the great review about the Icon, but was trying not to watch all the lane splitting in the city and on the highway. I was like please do not get hurt on camera doing that. But great review I'm actually considering the purchase.
The Gold and Red are very similar. I’d say it depends on the helmet it’s going into. Generally I like the look of the red a little better however the Silver is easier to ride with at night, i struggled with the Red one at night.
hey mate how do you find the durability of the silver coating? i see people complaining about other coated visors that cleaning bug guts destroys the coatings
Lemiwinks howdy! All mirrored / coated lenses are delicate & do have a lifespan. Years and years ago I ruined two shields back to back, but haven’t “hurt one” since. I don’t clean my visor “very often” or as little as possible... but this is how I do it. I carry a microfiber cloth with my. IF I need to clean it, I wet the cloth with WATER only and lay it on shield. 5 or 10 minutes later i remove the cloth, fold it in half (dirty to the inside) and wipe the shield with the clean side of the microfiber. Flip & repeat if necessary. This method has been bulletproof for me. Thanks for watching! - Kyle
Lemiwinks I wash my rst visor everyday since bugs are coming up north. I use those lil clothes that come with prescription glasses and I use there spray as well without no issue, I do over spray a lot so it’s soak and I haven’t scratched the visor yet but on the other hand my helmet slightly fell from my foot peg and it scratched the whole shield :( which sucked but I did by another one cause it’s a great shield for the sun, except for the reflection you get inside your helmet lol. Things you do to look cool eh. Hope that helps.

The RST shields are very close to "light smoke" as far as looking through them... but the block more light and glare than the light smoke... It is hard to articulate. @@manybikes Well thanks, and I think I understand what you're saying. I'm sort of wondering what combo of outer and inner shield tints/colors to run to cover optimal circumstances. I guess I'd have to try myself.
@@manybikes Yeah I've been caught after dark with a dark smoke. That's something I regret. haha The RST after dark works well enough? Excellent. Combine that with a dark smoke inner shield you can flip up, I think that might be the best combo without any need to remove anything in most cases.

It’s wild you say it’s a little louder it’s by far my quietest helmet I have had
Ha! Ha! All in perspective... and all depends on what your previous helmets were and how well they fit ;)
Excellent review! One of the best I found! Thanks!🤘
Thanks Trion Rider!
- Kyle

epoxeclipse I assume every car is out to get me too... and therefore I ride 5 to 10 mph faster then the flow of traffic. Minimize traffic risks ;)

I'm assuming you're out in California I really didn't pay that closer attention great review on helmet but I have to say I've ridden motorcycles since I was 5 years old I'm now 67 and the way you ride that bike you're just asking for trouble riding between the cars on city streets and on the freeway your days are numbered before you get smacked I guess then we'll find out just how good of a helmet it is
I just purchased the Icon Airflite Mips Stealth Helmet and I am excited to get it. I currently use a Harley Davidson piece of crap and I absolutely hate it. I plan on making a video about the HD helmet and helmet, and the Icon once I get it. Thanks for the review.

Absolutely amazing review. Can't wait to grab one of these. By far one of the nicest looking helmets and the drop down visor is a huge bonus.

I’m not gonna lie you’re one brave dude cruise through the middle of traffic especially when those two guys were racing people are so unpredictable be careful
True about peoples unpredictability! Thanks for watching! - Kyle
@@gjj6331 I agree dudes buggin if you reading this be careful ride more defensive bro it’s not worth it you can kill yourself or others driving like that.

Just bought this helmet to replace a $60 ebay ILM helmet I had. I hope to get better safety and a quieter helmet out of it. I got the white one and I bought the Sliver RST visor like yours.
Nice! I think you will love it. Of the 5 shields I have run to date... the RST Silver is my FAVORITE. It's the only one I am comfortable running at night. The others are just to dark. I'd love to hear your feedback after a few rides. Thanks for watching! - Kyle
@@manybikes Well my bike is naked so I hope it works better than my old one with wind noise.

So what about fogging when visor closed? No one seems to talk about it. Is there any? Because I don’t see a pinlock system.
So I think the issue was with the pads, ( mainly hurting my ears and squishing my cheeks ) which instead I'll try and replace for some XL.
I should have just read the Manuel haha. 😅

What color of glass can you recommended ?? Gold mirror or red ?
The Gold and Red are very similar. I’d say it depends on the helmet it’s going into. Generally I like the look of the red a little better however the Silver is easier to ride with at night, i struggled with the Red one at night.
Kyle Bradshaw thx bro so i will buy the silver and red visor version.
What is also cool is you can get the rear spoiler to match the visor color.
DJB 730 i got mirror is the best for me
hey mate how do you find the durability of the silver coating? i see people complaining about other coated visors that cleaning bug guts destroys the coatings
What's the name of the model

@@manybikes so would you recommend it for a beginner rider? ( I would assume so but just wanting to make sure:))
@@akatheunknown4310 Yes, for sure. It is a great helmet. DOT and ECE rated... comfortable and super stylish. I really like it.
Does the shield fog easily? Any pin lock available/needed?
No and No! The Icon shields have an anti-fog coating that works really really well.
@@manybikes Thanks for the quick reply. I 'm in the market for a new lid, and this one (with MIPS), is on my short list. Ride safe!
I didn't hear it..but does it have more field of view with that big sheild than a reg helmet..say airmada
Similar field of view to most full face helmets as the chin bar is as big if not bigger. The visor shield just covers it. - Kyle
Hey man, I'm kinda on the fence on buying this helmet. Does it fog up quickly when the mouth ventilation is closed? I'm also not sure about which visor to pick if I buy one. You said that it's recomended to not go for a nightride with the chrome visor. I'm thinking that it might be worse with the black visor, but that's the one I'd to put on it.
The visor is anti-fog ... One of the best in the market Place. Of all the dark / colored visors, the chrome one is the only I can ride with at night.
@Kyle Bradshaw Damn, didn't think you would reply so quick. Thanks! I'm new to riding bikes, having my first riding lesson next week and I wanted to have my own helmet. I really like the look of this one. Thanks for the review, I'm subbing!
@@skuipje Ha! Ha! You’ll love the helmer. I’ve got nearly 80k miles on mine now ... third one that is... welcome to riding!
Would this be a nice helmet for a cruiser kind of bike??
For sure Gavin! I have a Honda VTX 1300 and a Dyna I ride the Airflite Helmet on... Works Great. I even rode it at the track on sportbikes a few weeks ago. It performed well there too... Thanks for watching! - Kyle
Hi,
Can you link up the exact helmet with face shield?
Thanks for your inquiry. The Fayder in the Orange color has been discontinued but you can see the white version here: www.chapmoto.com/icon-airflite-fader-full-face-helmet-parent-038-010110826 the visor is the RST Silver and can he found here: www.chapmoto.com/icon-airflite-rst-replacement-helmet-faceshield-parent-038-0130-0781
What Sena Bluetooth device you have? Can you hear in stereo?
Yes, I do hear in stereo. I am running the Sena 30K in one of my Airflites and a Cardo Packtalk in the other... both are good. Each has their positive and negatives. I think overall I like the packtalk a little more... but the Sena is easier to use.
Great commentary
Thank you Sir!
Kinda looks like the Biker Mice from Mars helmets :D
Ha! Ha! Ha! Wait until you see Today's video release. WILD.... Thanks for watching!
Great points on the helmet and yes it is killer looking!
I like the oval fit references as the round ones give me a headache after hours pressing the forehead.
Also the vent issue great feed back wouldn't want to figure that out while riding lol. I do like having a sun visor like my old 509 helmet had which I did not realize how much until i did not have one.
Thanks for your feedback and for watching! - Kyle
Are those RST chromed-style shields about equivalent to the light smoke shield, in terms of light filtering?
The RST shields are very close to "light smoke" as far as looking through them... but the block more light and glare than the light smoke... It is hard to articulate. The Block like a Dark smoke and when you look through it... its like Light Smoke. Ahhhhh Clear as MUD! Happy to be of service. - Kyle
@@manybikes Well thanks, and I think I understand what you're saying. I'm sort of wondering what combo of outer and inner shield tints/colors to run to cover optimal circumstances. I think dark smoke on the inside would be the best, but running a clear outer lens seems like it could create a greenhouse of heat. Being caught after dark with a chromed outer might be too dark? I guess I'd have to try myself.
Lifted_Above I can’t ride a dark smoke at night as I can’t see any details. I can however ride the RST Silver just fine.
@@manybikes Yeah I've been caught after dark with a dark smoke. That's something I regret. haha
The RST after dark works well enough? Excellent. Combine that with a dark smoke inner shield you can flip up, I think that might be the best combo without any need to remove anything in most cases.
Hey quick question man, the adhesive mount you attached it to the visor?
Just a standard GoPro mount. I did end up drilling holes to ziptye it in place after I knocked it off in a get-off.
@@manybikes big thanks for the reply!
Nice review. Thanks a bunch. Would you recommend this for touring and a bike with fairing and larger windshield (Honda ST1300).
Yes Sir! It is a good helmet behind a big sport touring bike. I Have ridden it behind the shield of an FJR 1300 and a Goldwing GL1800. Works great! Thanks for watching! - Kyle
