I just picked this pup up for $200 and thought it was worth a try. Thanks for the video. It actually preformed in your video better than I even was hoping for.
Bought one of these over a year ago, mine came missing the heavy baffle, barrel retainer kept coming unscrewed and 75% were light strikes. Sent it in for warrantee, 3 months later got it back, have ran over 100 rounds, only 2 failures to feed. They did a wonderful job fixing it.
Bought on today because the price was so good. Out of the box no cleaning shooting bird shot I had to cycle each round. After putting two mags through it it suddenly began to perform exceptionally. I was rapid firing by the end of day and had a fun day.🎉
Didn't hang up once with the 5 round mag though. I would have liked to see more low recoil rounds run thru the 5 round mags. I quickly decided that the larger mags were an issue. In order to rule out the shotgun itself as an issue, more rounds needed run thru the 5 round mags.
@@Gruntreviews Wow! Thanks for the quick reply and the info. A friend of mine and I watched your review together and will both be buying this gun now and subscribing to your channel. Thanks again!
You gotta break these bullpups in before taking them out. I locked the bolt open for a month before taking mine out to break it in. I only had one jam with 200 rounds of high and low brass. And that was because I didn't smack the mag to seat the rounds.
I agree on almost every point. The only thing that I disagree with is locking the bolt back for a month. Modern spring steel doesn't relax by being held under load like the old stuff did in 50s and 60s. Instead it relaxes with use. You're wasting a month. Or you could use that month opening and closing the bolt. That would actually relax the steel.
If there is one thing I have learned in life, it is that pro mags usually suck because they use springs with too little springback. The springs are weak and always cause feeding problems. Try another 10 round mag but try to stay away from pro mags if possible. I would definitely not trust pro mags in self defense situations. Also this gun shoots best with 2 3/4" to 3" rounds. Any over and under you will get feeding issues. First feed failure you had would probably have to do with the shell size and the second, well I don't like to say it but the pro mag was the cause of that lol.
@@Gruntreviews I saw that. So overall how do you like the gun?? Is it worth the money? In general though pro mags are terrible lol and shells over 3"s do not feed well in that shotgun.
@Rob10312006 W it's chambered for 3", a 3.5" wouldn't allow the bolt to close. For the money, it's a great range toy. If it was all someone could afford for defense, it's better than nothing. I do agree, the quality out of anything bearing a promag logo tends to be poor.
I always expect a gun under 500 bucks to be a 85%'r ... Generally need a bit of TLC out the box ... feed ramps are the most common issue. I disassemble every gun first and feel for those rough spots where there is not supposed to be a rough spot. I don't use my motorcycle to pull a boat and don't use my truck to race corvettes.
This one it appears is an issue with the barrel casting. There's a narrow spot that is the cause of the shell shredding. I've got it off for warranty, I'll have a follow up video when it comes back.
@@Gruntreviews yeah, it appears that there was some mangling in the feed process. That can translate into some restriction in the extraction process. I would also recommend polishing all the internal surfaces of the mags paying close attention to where the the case interacts with the narrowing part of the mag. When they are stamped, they leave burrs in those areas that can radically change the alignment of the feed. I file mine so as to make flat spot tangent to the case, then polish it. Then I drop them in a bucket of Dura Lube & Dura lube the throat. My AR-7 can shoot subsonic stuff no one else's AR-7 can ... they are notorious for short cycling low power cartridges. I have been trying this brand called Clenzoil lately after it got good reviews on Project Farm channel. Seems to be no different than Dura lube in function but maybe a bit better in anti fouling down the barrel. Put some on a paper towel and rub down the ammo before firing and watch how much further the cases eject ... that pretty much proved it to me. Polish ... lube ... wah'la. Pretty simple really.
Thanks for running some cheaper low-brass loads. I bought the TAR 12P 3 days ago and it has yet to arrive. I was wondering how or if it would cycle with these lower velocity and lighter loads. Glad to see that it just might be okay when it gets here.
Mine did great out of the box with 7 1/2 shot. Bolt locked back as it should on the last round. I always lube the top rounds casing with gun oil on every mag to get it sliding good and after that they feed smooth
When you first presented the shotty, I was wishing you had a gray or white t-shirt on so it would be easier to see. Thanks for the fantastic, and informative video!

Thanks for a good review! Just have a question about the piston, heavy load piston that comes with it. Does it make sense to replace it right away if im planning to shoot variety of shells, how important is to have heavy load piston? I have shells that range between 1250 - 1600 fps. Thank you!!
Mine worked fine right out of the box. I only used the stock mag with BlackJack buckshoot. I've had problems with other larger mags for others. It seems like the springs are week in some of the larger mags.
Just a couple of thoughts. The mags that it comes with had no errors. Aftermarket Extended mags seem to have a problem. It's possible there are extended mags that work just fine. I have to find anything about Tocar 12 gauges When it comes to accuracy. That would be nice to know. 1 review did point out that because the action is closer to your face that it is louder.
The promag was new, but the other 10 and 19rd mags are know working mags in other turkish units. I haven't run I the shell shredding issue before. I tend not to do accuracy on shotguns, much of it is load and choke dependent. As for louder, it's in the same ball park as any other 12ga. You don't notice a difference in report, but you do definitely hear the action move.
@@theateroftheabsurd2168 if all you use is birdshot and double odd Buck you're absolutely right. But if you're going to use slugs it would be nice to know if you can hit a Target 50 to 75 yards away with some accuracy. When I was about 15 years old we used to go down to a gun range where they had both skeet and trap. That experience told me that as a home defense weapon you can't think of it as something that would just blow a whole door opening unless you plan on cutting the barrel off very short. Part of my question is do any of the new AR style 12 gauges, or even the bull pups, show well in skeet/trap and if not why not? I do realize that using mags during skeet or trap might be an inconvenience.

These Turkish Bullpups fire damn good with federal ammo especially slugs 3 inch. But they do need breaking in then they function very well after a 100 rounds or so high brass ammo never gave me any feeding problems and 2 inch shells were a no go
If it is running good on the 5 round magazine it is the large magazines so I would stick with the 5 rounds unless you can tweak the magazines to get them to work right the gun seems good.
So I misread the manual and ran some 1 1/4 oz through on the standard piston. I’m looking to swap out the pistons before my next trip to the range, and am curious if you had any experience with the heavy piston. I saw some people in a forum talking about how the heavy piston is sliding around freely after installation and they’re worried they may have installed incorrectly. Is this normal?
I was planning on buying this & getting the 10 round mag. I only use buck & slug shots, 2 3/4. What brand of 10 round mag do you recommend? I see you're jamming quite a bit. Should I go with a different brand semi auto shotgun? Now I'm having 2nd thoughts on getting one

Thanks for the video. As a previous commenter stated, I saw all I needed to in the first few minutes. For a play toy, it may suffice. However, for home defense you must ask yourself, what value do I place on my family's or my life? For me, it is simple, buy a reputable, proven, and dependable shotgun. It may cost a little more, but, when a perp is coming at me, I want one that will go BANG, BANG WITHOUT JAMMING!! Thirty-eight years of law enforcement taught me when danger comes, you do not have time to WORK on your defense, you must USE your defense or lose!!!
Ehhhhhhhh.........not sure I'd trust it beyond use as a range toy. However, if you were to try to use it for Home defense, I'd go with the Black Aces Buckshot.
Are you using the light piston or the heavy piston? Nevermind, I missed where you said you were using the lighter piston the first time I watched. Thanks!

A little bit of it is the mic on the camera. The other part is the semi auto shotguns use some of the gas to Cy le the action. This reduces a small amount of the noise and a larger amount of recoil.
waiting for the update on this, have the same model yet it stovepipes new rounds every round or two even with the mag it came with, curious if I should attempt to send it to tokarev for a replacement on one that works, or sell it, take the hundo or so price hit and spend a bit more on something that actually works lol
also ftr I shot ten rounds and it jammed up 3 times, using remington slugger rounds 2 1/4inch 1oz slugs, in the magazine it came with, and no I didnt notice any burrs, altho it didnt cut the cartridges open, i was able to reload them into the mag
Anyone and everyone interested... Always buy local and use cash... And when making your deals make sure they know you are paying in cash you will typically save several dollars dealing with cash... They pay 5% on card sales... So they will typically work with you ALOT with cash offers... I've been working with a gun store local and will probably save 50 bucks or more if I go through him with cash... And 25 is FFL transfer if I go online... Then 17 shipping... I have not, but I have had great experience with Black Aces (Klever) buckshot.
Grab a gun he's them for 250 now! I was debating? Thanks for your review
My pleasure. Thank you for dropping a comment.
Thanks!
I just purchased the 15 rounder drum for this bullpup. I’m concerned.
I havent seen the 15rd units yet, just the 20. How's making the 15 rounder?
Where did you purchase that from?
Thanks for a good review!
Just have a question about the piston, heavy load piston that comes with it. Does it make sense to replace it right away if im planning to shoot variety of shells, how important is to have heavy load piston? I have shells that range between 1250 - 1600 fps. Thank you!!
This was all shot straight out of the box, I did not install the heavy piston.
Just got one from Cheaper Than Dirt. For slugs do I need to change to the heavy load piston? Also bolt catch lever is a pain to push.
@shannongraham3043 not required, but the heavier piston will reduce bolt speed. Try it both ways and see what runs best.
@@Gruntreviews thank you. Got an email for a deal on this one. First bull pup and gonna take it out tomorrow. Thanks for the video!
@@shannongraham3043 my pleasure. Let us know how it runs for ya.
Instead of using magazines for high capacity, how about trying a drum to see if it functions any better than magazines.
The drums are pretty hit or miss on QC with these turkish imports. The mags are usually pretty reliable
What is the best ammo for it with no failures ? Also length/size and all
Depends on what load you're looking for. Birdshot or buckshot?
Thanks for the range test. I have the Italian brand of rounds. PUMP....lol
Thank you for dropping a comment.
I guess I won't be buying this! I'm glad I found your video.
It's off at their warranty department. I'll post a follow up when it gets back.
Mine worked fine right out of the box. I only used the stock mag with BlackJack buckshoot. I've had problems with other larger mags for others. It seems like the springs are week in some of the larger mags.
I did put up a follow up video after it came back from warranty. It runs correctly now with all mags.
I just bought the one in nickel/black it's eye candy.
That one definitely looks nice in photos. I haven't seen one in person yet.
You forgot to lean in on that first shot but the next 4 looked smoother
Indeed
Just bought one.. now i egret it now seeing this video..but i dont intend to use more than a 5 round mag even though it comes with a 19 round
I should have it back from warranty soon. I'll post a follow up video.
Who worries about accuracy with a shotgun?
Grunt reviews I am thinking about buying one of these I just have to find a good price for it where where can I find the to go with these does any website have the 10 round mags and what's a good Red Dot sight for this can you recommend or some of the red dots you can recommend for this shotgun great review I've watched your review on this video and your follow-up video and read the comments I'm wondering if the panzer BP 12 it is just as good or better or worse I'd like to see a video of you testing the panzer bp12 or the other panzer egx 5000 I think it is could you do a video of so you can see the difference between the two of them I'd really appreciate it and like I said great video makes me want to go out and buy one right away just trying to get up the money and find a good deal thank you for your video very good demonstration very informative stay healthy and it's safe out there you keep making your good videos
Mr.MadMatt69
Magazines are a mka 1919 pattern. Lots of vendors selling them. I'll keep an eye out for a panzer to review. A lot of the turkish Imports are coming out of the same factories. As for red dots, I'm partial to Aimpoint, but holosun has some.decent options as well.

You might have missed the best deals on this gun because I bought mine from Cheaper than dirt Guns and they went for $249.90 about a month ago now they are up to 299.00 because of all the popularity. The longer you wait the higher they will go
Just picked one up and dealer said you gotta use 1350 fps or higher or they have problems cycling
This ended up being an out of spec upper. They replaced it under warranty. I posted a follow up video after repair.
seems good price and effective, only if ya stick to 5 rnd mags...
It ended up being a warranty issue with an out of spec upper. I have a follow up video up from when it returned from service.
Great review...thanks for hard work!
Thank you for the kind words
will this use the rock island armory vrpa40 magazines?
Sorta. Same pattern, but the vrpa mags won't lockback
These Turkish Bullpups fire damn good with federal ammo especially slugs 3 inch. But they do need breaking in then they function very well after a 100 rounds or so high brass ammo never gave me any feeding problems and 2 inch shells were a no go
This ended up being an out of spec upper. I did a follow up review when it came back from warranty.
If it is running good on the 5 round magazine it is the large magazines so I would stick with the 5 rounds unless you can tweak the magazines to get them to work right the gun seems good.
It ended up being a warranty issue. They swapped the entire upper assembly. I have a follow up video on it after it came back from warranty.
Thinking of getting one of this
I'll have a follow up video to see if smoothing the feed ramps fixes the feeding issue
Is it worth buying? I’m in Texas and they have one for $220
That's up to you. I did a follow up video after it came.back from warranty.
Just got the marine version.
Let us know how it runs for ya
Thanks for sharing this shotgun. But using a better shooting table would be great!
It's on the list. Worked with what I had available.
Idk man. The table your suggesting isnt as environmentally friendly
@@MaverickMcGreasy you could almost say I recycled it for another purpose
Need a tiger grip on the picatilly and weight in the handle for stability. I'm going to run a 20 round drum and butt stabilizer to help as well
Try the drum before you buy, it gets really awkward to hold with the extra width at the rear.
If you hear it moving while tilting the shotgun back and forth, that's normal with the pistons.
I see a recent black aces bullpup 12 gauge appears on palmetto state armory
Review?
I'll have to look at adding it to the list
I was planning on buying this & getting the 10 round mag. I only use buck & slug shots, 2 3/4. What brand of 10 round mag do you recommend? I see you're jamming quite a bit. Should I go with a different brand semi auto shotgun? Now I'm having 2nd thoughts on getting one
Check out my follow up video on this. It runs well now that it's back from warranty.
As for 10rd mags, it's a mka1919 pattern. Any of the aluminium ones are good. They all pretty much come out of the same plant.
With most of the turkish Imports I consider them to be range toys.
I have an Olive Drab one. Where can I get a ten or twenty round mag?
Lots of places have em. It's a mka 1919 pattern.
@@Gruntreviews Thanks Brother

I am a first time owner of this shotgun and i was wondering do you have a video on how to change out the piston for the hotter rounds?
I do not at this time. I need to look at doing one.
I believe Tokarev USA have a video here on UA-cam on how to disassemble the riffle
Ok so bottom line, what ammo should I purchase (home defense) cause this gun has jammed ALOT using certain ammo..
Ehhhhhhhh.........not sure I'd trust it beyond use as a range toy. However, if you were to try to use it for Home defense, I'd go with the Black Aces Buckshot.
Does it run better with 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells?
About even. It juat needs to be a hotter load.
I just picked one of these up , what is the heavy dudty recoil buffer im looking to get one but cant find it
It's a gas piston. It should be in the box, you may have to unfold the box to find it.
Are you using the light piston or the heavy piston? Nevermind, I missed where you said you were using the lighter piston the first time I watched. Thanks!
My pleasure
Did you keep the light piston, or did you change it out for the heavy one that comes with the gun
This is all light piston.
@Gruntreviews
That sounds good. I was wondering if I should change it out for using slugs.
QUESTION COULD YOU POLISH THE RAMP AND FEED RING OF THE BAREL TUBE ON THIS SHOTGUN
I suppose you could. It ended up being an out of spec upper. They replaced it under warranty and I did a follow up video.
And in classic fashion, extended mags cause malfunctions. Fun to use on the range, but only trust standard capacity mags with your life.
It ended up being a warranty issue. I did a follow up video after it came back.
Best money ever spent on a 12ga semi auto shotty man I love this gun and for 250??? Are you shitting me???
The turkish imports are a lot of bang for the buck
great vid it looks like its tuffer taking failed shells out compared to the Tokarev TAR 12 but it sure does look better imo i think ill go the Tokarev TAR 12 does anyone have both or any opinions on the 2
This ended up being a bad upper and was replaced under warranty. I did a follow up when it came back from service. I've got a review up on the TAR 12 as well.
I just got one a TBP-12 myself today what shells do you guys recommend using to break it in? And what about shells do you recommend using after? Btw this would be my first firearm I’ve bought myself and first shotgun ever.
Any good quality buckshot.
So how about that trigger pull? I shot one today and was thinking about getting one but the trigger pull is very heavy. I thought the safety was on still when I went to shoot the first shot.
I dont remember what it was off hand, but I do a weight and pull test on my tabletop review.
Bad boy bout jumped out your hands 🙌
It's definitely got 12ga worth of recoil.
@@Gruntreviews absolutely! I’m wanting it now!
Can that 19 rd mag work with the gforce arms gfy? They look like the same gun
As long as it takes mka1919 pattern mags, yes
@Gruntreviews thank you I just looked it up it does
@Gruntreviews would you recommend that mag I see you had a few problems

You got a hell of a flinch my guy. But good review

Will it run any 12g rounds my friend said you need certain shotgun shells??
Most types in 2 3/4 and 3"
I am looking at this gus for home defence. Do you think that deburring it may help with the chambering issue?
I sent it off for warranty service. They ended up replacing the entire upper assembly. I have a follow up video from when it came back.
This gun is junk. Mine doesn't work. m.ua-cam.com/video/YVEmx294bew/v-deo.html
Im notnsure if my comment posted, but does this or the ar version (same brand) kick harder?
They feel very similar. The difference is that with the weight centralized to the rear, there's a bit less muzzle flip with a bull pup.
I don't have experience with this type of shotgun. So I was wondering if you could tell me, what makes it seem so quiet compared to a pump action??
A little bit of it is the mic on the camera. The other part is the semi auto shotguns use some of the gas to Cy le the action. This reduces a small amount of the noise and a larger amount of recoil.
Can you shoot Small shells ???
I have not tried it, but most semiautos don't like minishells.
What magazine is the 19 rounder ?
There's a bunch of brands that sell them, but it's an mka 1919 pattern. Brand lasered on to it doesn't matter.

@@Gruntreviews Really, I'll take a look.
waiting for the update on this, have the same model yet it stovepipes new rounds every round or two even with the mag it came with, curious if I should attempt to send it to tokarev for a replacement on one that works, or sell it, take the hundo or so price hit and spend a bit more on something that actually works lol
also ftr I shot ten rounds and it jammed up 3 times, using remington slugger rounds 2 1/4inch 1oz slugs, in the magazine it came with, and no I didnt notice any burrs, altho it didnt cut the cartridges open, i was able to reload them into the mag

Then I guess 8 bucks for a cash deal... It adds up quick
