      Yes. It's pretty decent for a stock sound system. You only really need to add a DSP to make the system sound better.

      My fix was the minimal for a stock setup. As soon as you start upgrading the speakers, you'll have to do more. On my last car, I had to Dynomat the inside of my doors as well as trim to make all the rattles go away. I even used expanding foam in my trunk lid to make it stop vibrating.

    Is polyfill a good option to go with? I'm assuming it's much cheaper than the dynamat stuff. Can't wait for the third book if Rothfuss ever writes it.

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  5 років тому +1

      No, only use polyfill if you have something loose moving around like wiring or plastic and want to isolate it from rattling. The actual door and door panels will need Dynomat or similar. They also make sound dampening spray that I've used in conjunction with Dynomat when I had a full sound system in my last car.

    What width/thickness weather stripping foam did you use for the door panels under the window controls?

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  4 роки тому

      I don't remember off the top of my head. It was just some scrap foam I had lying around. You can probably just get 1/2" wide stripping. It doesn't need to be very thick... maybe 1/8" to 1/4". You just need to keep window controls from directly vibrating against the door panels.

    Im chasing a door vibration after a new speaker install myself, all the trim is removed its not that. Very similar in that only certain frequencies cause the vibrations, doesnt happen much during music, but phone calls ect. I play back specific youtube videos of some guy talking that always causes it. Speaker isnt damaged either because it does not do it when decoupled from the door.

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  4 роки тому

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  2 роки тому

      I don't know what the Kia door looks like inside, but if removing the door trim makes your rattles go away, then adding Dynamat to it and securing any loose plastic sheeting should help.

      Update: This took away ALL the rattle I was experiencing (Playlist is all Rap/R&B/Hip Hop/Crunk/Hyphy/Drill/Dirty South)... I just used a metal credit card (Stash’s debit card lol) to pop off the window/door lock panel. I disconnected the wires to make it easy to tape on the weatherstripping (Home Depot “M-D Building Products 19/32 in. x 10 ft. EPDM Cellular Rubber Auto and Marine Weatherstrip”... link below for anyone else. Thicker than I cared for, but worked perfectly regardless). Just wanted to say thank you. I bought this car for my kid and he loves it. I was worried about giving it to him with the rattle. You solved that.

    • @VampyreX13

      Dynamat should definitely help. You may need to apply it directly to the door around the speakers.

  • @barbecuetechtips6024
    @barbecuetechtips6024 5 років тому

    You have any vibration from your seats, seat belt pillar, and instrument cluster? I've solved the doors but this is beyond annoying to me. Seems like I am the only one with these issues.

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  5 років тому

      Seats: No issues here. Check to make sure the are no wire harnesses from the seatbelt sensor or the amp under the drivers side seat vibrating on something. Maybe check if there are any loose springs.
      Seat Belt Pillar: No, but the are definitely wires behind it that can vibrate. I have all mine Zip Tied when I ran wires to the hatch, so I have no issues.
      Instrument Cluster: Yes, but it turned out to be some wires I had run behind it. Once I secured them better, the noises stopped.
      Now my current noise issue is actually somewhere in the headliner near the passenger sun visor and sunroof switch. I haven't had time to hunt it down, but I'm hoping stuffing a little polyfill up there will solve it since I think it's the headliner itself vibrating against the roof.

    • @barbecuetechtips6024

      Derrick Aquino possibly wind deflector against glass?

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  5 років тому

      @@barbecuetechtips6024 I thought that already and drove while holding the deflector mechanism steady, and I still got the vibration. I know if I tap on the headliner, it will make a noise against the roof of the car. I figure if I stuff some polyfill in place that should make it stop and if it's wires up there, that should silence those as well. As for your issues, just focus on trying to find one at a time instead of all of them at once. I find it a lot easier to track down the issue that way.

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  6 років тому +1

      This was primarily to reduce rattles. If you want to cut down on road noise, you need to go further and add Dynamat Xtreme to backside of the door panels. I've done that as well as used acoustic deadening spray on my last project car, and that cut down on the road noise a lot.
