    Excellent tip, my front Differential was full of water because the breather failed. I now extended the breather with a hose in order to improve the wading capacity a bit.

      Thanks for sharing your tip, Jack! How's everything? I haven't heard from you for a long time.

      @PistonShack Well, I'm fixing my number 2 Delica which is originally the donor car. After the first test drive it was overheating badly. The cooling system was already flushed so I will first remove the thermostat then the water pump and eventually the radiator unless somebody has a better idea how to approach this issue. Living in a tropical area Delicas like to overheat easy from my experience.

    Also check the gearbox breather it's underneath between gearbox and transfer case small hole. If blocks I seen auto gear oil coming up the dip stick tube.

      Good point, William! It's worth checking the breather on the transmission too.

    Excellent advice and straight to the point. How often do you recommend to check it?

    My friend, I just had my 4m40 engine rebuilt because I snapped a rod. It’s been in the shop for 4 months now. It’s put back together but it idles erratically and the mechanic thinks the vacuum lines are connected wrong but he’s not sure.
    Can you offer any insight into this? Is this something you’ve seen before? I know this video isn’t about engines, but I’m running out of options.
    As always, any help is appreciated. Have a great one and thanks in advance.

      Hey, brother. Generally speaking, based on limited information I have from you. It seems to me like:
      1) engine timing (cam - crank) of one or more teeth;
      2) ignition timing is too advance or retarded;
      3) injection pump gear is of one or couple teeth due to wrong injection pump installation.
      Absolutely, almost unlikely it's vacuum leak issue, this engine would run without any vacuum needed. It's not gasoline engine.
      Questions: 1) what year is your Delica? 2) was any issues performance issues before rebuild? 3) how many clicks on your Delica? 4) when did you change filters last time? 4) did you try to run clean not contaminated diesel fuel?
      You can record the video then send the link to me. Record cold start, idle, then warm idle and acceleration under the load and no load.
      God bless!
