    I was at the rain soaked King of the Baggers race in NJ last year. It was an awesome event. I recommend everyone who loves motorcycles to go watch one of the King of the Baggers races at least once! 🤓👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸

    For me the king of the baggers series brings the racing closer to the fans in several aspects by using modified production bikes, using people like yourself to aid in bringing the teams closer to the fans with social media, taking measured steps for the modifications to allow small less funded teams to be competitive and so forth. It is grass roots racing at it's best. I am older and remember when Drag racing had the Super stock and early on Pro stock classes that would bring the crowds even for a local match race at a track like Woodburn in Oregon or Puyallup Washington. As the factory's said at the time, Race on Sunday-sell on Monday! The key word is stock here and I think the key to all of the bagger racing is keeping it Stock as possible while remaining exciting for the fans. This seems like sort of the same thing to me as the factory stock classes of the day in Drag racing.. It's really exciting is all I can say.

    I’ll admit that when I first heard of racing “baggers” I just laughed. But watching these vids and seeing the bikes and the team at work!! This is super exciting!! Let’s go Harley!

    I just did Daytona 2023. The races were spectacular. Rain the night before cleaned up the track, high temperatures for racing…those bikes flew!

    Great video Ryan! As a former Harley employee I've been following the King Of The Baggers since the first race. I share the same thoughts that Harley will be bringing out a true performance bagger soon. I hope it's with a larger version of the Revolution Max Engine

    Great vid and representation of the class and history. 100% the sport was stale and this is a real shot in the arm. See and new demographic emerge at the track the last two years has been fantastic. I agree I think it will be a premier class and major draw for both road race and flattrack again. Hope to see you at the track Ryan.

    That bike is beautiful man, the trick Parts on it is nothing like we have ever dreamed of seeing on a HD... WOW! Let's get the number 1 plate back this year!

    They are replacing components with those race bike parts, lighter parts , higher ground clearance and many more things- there is a lot of work and money. It’s fun because it different. If you seen the way motoGP bikes are modified for performance and the level they are at currently the baggers have less chance to perform at par or close. Checkout Isle of Man TT also.

    There are two Bagger racing Leagues.. King of the Baggers and Bagger Racing League.. I doubt that Harley Davidson had much of anything to do with Bagger racing. It was a few of Aftermarket parts makers and custom bike building shops that had the idea and built bikes to race against each other on a track. HD did jump on the band Wagon I suppose after it picked up Momentum. HD had not raced Flat Track for many years.. they hired out Vance and Hines to run their Flat Track Program.. As far as road racing goes The AMA either gives HD a 200 CC advantage over other brands or they have HD only classes ..
    HD did actually win a World Grand Prix Championship. I think it was for 250cc's with a two stroke Motorcycle that The Italian Company that they bought into and ran into the ground Aermacchi built. Aermacchi built some neat and interesting light bikes like Enduros and even a Motocross bike .. It was at a time when the Big 4 from Japan started vastly improving their bikes and Arimachi didn't keep up .
    HD Engineer Eric Buell went of on his own to build a road racing bike to compete in the 500 CC Grand Prix. The Second year Eric had built a competitive bike, then the AMA changed the rules and allowed 1,000 CC 4 strokes to compete against 500 CC Two Strokes. The Two Strokes could not compete. It was at this time that Buell started putting V-twin HD engines in his frames. I think he used the XR-750 engine.. He raced in V-twin only classes and in classes that gave the V-twins 200 or 250 CC's extra to compete against the 4 cylinder 4 strokes..
    Eventually Buell had financial troubles and HD bought 48% of Buell with an option to buy 48% More of Buell in 10 years. Eric Buell made a DEAL with the DEVIL. Sure enough not long after the 96% Buy out HD spent $115 million dollars to shut down the brand New Buell factory in Rice Lake WI and eliminated 400 American Jobs..in Jan of 2009.
    Though the 1203 CC Sportster engine made 74 HP Buell had nursed that engine to 103 HP "The Thunderstorm" engine It had it's own heads higher compression , Fuel Injection double shift rails , Piston Oilers .. Air Scoops to cool the rear cylinder and an oil cooler."
    in his Street bikes and 150 HP in V-twin racing form .. Buell went ahead and designed a Modern V-Twin-Liquid cooled- 4 valve head , Overhead cam engine with Rotax in Austria.
    So in 2008 Buller offered the 1203 CC air cooled Thunderstorm engine and they offered the 1125 CC Halicon engine which was 65# Lighter and made 148 HP..

    Years ago HD raced the VR 1000RR in the AMA super bike series, it was competitive (barley) for about 3 years, but more importantly it brought a whole new crowd to the trace. At our local track, BIR it damn near doubled the attendance and sure made the even fun. It looks like, even though these bikes are slow compared to the other bikes on the track, it is drawing a new crow to todays races. I went to the race at BIR last summer and it was highly disappointing as they only completed 3 or 4 laps, but the crowd was there.

    OK, I have a stupid question, why are the tires covered or wrapped in the shop ?

    • @RyanUrlacher
      @RyanUrlacher  Рік тому +3

      Those are heated tire covers. The tires are kept to a certain temp so they are ready to go when they hit the track. Keeps them sticky and flexible.

    The racing is great. I just wish Harley and Indian would bring something much closer to this performance to the street. The ST or sport chief models are not it. I want to see a road glide with KOB ergos, lean angle, ground clearance, suspension geometry, swing arm, 17in wheels, and lighter weight. They don't need racing forks or shocks or even most of the engine mods.

    • @RyanUrlacher
      @RyanUrlacher  Рік тому

      I think it's coming!!!!! Just my gut feeling. I believe it will be like the SG ST and RG ST models, except with footpegs/mid, much more lean angle, raised bags and exhaust etc. Basically a bike you can ride on street and then take to the track sort of thing.

    150/150 HP/TQ ?? I would expect more than that on a Race Bike!?

    • @roadwarrior22
      @roadwarrior22 Рік тому

      It most definitely is. Kevin from big bear who had a bike entered said there bike was 170 hp and Harley and Indian were easily nearing the 200 hp mark. So coming from him, I'd believe it. Neither company wants to put out exactly where they are at.

    • @RyanUrlacher
