Torque converter to pump engagement! I had the same issue and chased it the same way he is. Didn't get fixed until the torque converter hub disintegrated! Swapped pump and a new converter and good to go!
Similar vibration issue - I had a brand new 2018 F-350 SRW 6.7L Powerstroke Crewcab short bed. I had a very similar vibration start after 1.5 months owning it, only in overdrive, started at 72mph gone at 77mph, worst at 75mph. Ford had the truck for over a year. They put 3 driveshafts in it, tried 4 other sets of wheels and tires off trucks in their lot, a whole new rear axle assembly, full new exhaust system, torque checked all frame and drivetrain bolts/nuts, and did a neutralization of exhaust and drivetrain components (put it on a frame stand nice and level, loosen all bolts/nuts, let it sit for a bit, then retighten and torque everything back together, its a common deal in Class 6, 7, 8 truck land), multiple sensors placed all over the truck, multiple Ford engineers I wasn't allowed to talk to flown in. ALL OF THAT did not fix the issue, both myself and the dealers transmission tech said it was the 6th gear (overdrive) planetary set from early on, but Ford would not allow/cover the dealers costs to tear into/investigate my transmission. The short of the long, Ford bought it back under Lemon Law after a couple month battle after all the above was done, never looking at the transmission. The way you describe his vibration makes me think of the exact issue I had, so thought I would share as food for thought. As a wrap up to the above story with the Ford, I'm now in a 2017 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins Megacab short bed with a G56! It had under 12,000 miles when I bought it almost a year ago to this post. The owner already had some parts fall off in Mexico and did a couple other small things (level, wheels/tires). I've got just over 29,000mi on the clock as of this post and could only be happier if I could find my personal OG 2002 7.3L Powerstroke. Keep up the good work Greg!
My 08 burned to the ground on the highway a little over 2 weeks ago. This video just shows the true passion for these trucks. Gotta love the third gens. Don’t know what I’ll get next yet.
Watching you row those gears and hearing the amazing exhaust sound made me so excited to get my first diesel. I am planning on an 06-07.5 6speed so I don’t have to try and find someone to help me get the exhaust to sound good.
Torque converter shudder. My ranger did the same thing n I did all the same stuff as you. Didn't go away till I swapped the converter. Hopefully I'm wrong but that was the case with mine. 2 wheel drive ford ranger.
Man I love that 08, such a boss! Then it's the 05 because the paddle shifting, exhaust sounds and it just rips! Anyway happy birthday Greg🤘🇺🇸 still lovin the content
I have a 2012 Laramie Longhorn 6.7. I have the 68 and will be having that completely rebuilt, just have to find someone who’s able to build it back even stronger. As of right now I havent had any issues and I currently have 133k miles. But I do plan on doing a second gen swap and banks intake horn, new head studs and obviously will be purchasing a better tuner. It’s currently deleted but not tuned. All stock
Try unbolting the drive shaft and rotating it 180°. Just a thought, everything may not be balanced together even though they have been balanced separately. Harmonics are a tricky thing sometimes. If not that then try getting the duals rebalanced.
Such an epic truck to be giving away! Not to many trucks you can obtain that have such a well documented history of love to look back on. Hoping to be the one to bring this bad larry home! 🤞🤞
If the converter to hub issue checks out (or, this might be cheaper and is definitely easier) take a look at the tires real close. Similar symptoms, ended up being broken belts on two rear tires. Goose eggs were protruding INSIDE the tires tho, so my local tire shop had to bust them off to confirm what was wrong with them. Found the issue when those two wouldn’t road force balance. Good luck!
My auto 2011 3500 runs super great with a fi s472 billet wheel turbo! But I’m also running dual fuelers, 150 hp ddp sticks, and a couple other things. I know I need like 100% overs but she’s still mean!
I have a 2015 6.7 g56 truck that’s got a 5” straight piped. I wish it sounded as raspy in “higher” rpms like the 08! Maybe it is and I just don’t hear it from inside but the 08 definitely gets the blood flowing!
Happy Birthday Greg. Been since the 1st day of the 1st gen and love the channel. It drives me crazy to see all the trucks scattered across the yard, could you line them all up aha. Also why dont you tarp up the pro mod and put it outside so you have more room in the shop for activities
Hey brother if the front suspension is looking good then the vibration problem is going to be the U-joints on the axle differential. Check to see if you have any play in the U-joints.
The vibration issue might be the converter. Try going 82-85 mph and just lightly tap the brake pedal to unlock the converter to see if it goes away. You can also have too much converter clearance to the flexplate and you pulled the converter out of the pump too far. Also there may be an issue with the overdrive planetary gearset, i have seen this before on a ford causing a vibration at specific speeds. Hope this helps
Awesome awesome video Greg A, the 08 sounds so wicked and it’s fast, and powerful, and smooth. So glad to see the OG 08 back in full action again! Finally got silent mikes Dually back in action, transmission pressures looked good. The vibration issue is still there after 82 mph, would normally say maybe the rear yoke on the rear drive shaft would be bad causing the vibration, I had a bad one on my 04.5 and I could feel the vibration from where I was sitting in the drivers seat, and it would start at the same speeds 80+ mph was when it was the worst, replaced that yoke and the vibration stopped. But he replaced the driveshaft with an upgraded one so the yoke should be new in it. Unless he got bad yokes from new possibly.
Dude I wanna know also. I've got a 2012 2wd g56 and I want a 1-piece but no one in dallas will make one because of spin speed and crap that cause them to explode under too many gforce or some crap is what I'm told.
Man I've been trying to catch up on videos bro! Been doing tons of work I see Mr Gregg everything is looking awesome! Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREGG! hope had a awesome weekend you and your family buddy. Also hope all is well since I been little part pooper not been on watching your videos haha.
A variable vibration that comes and goes within a specific speed range is almost always tires. The harmonics of the rubber changes as the speed changes causing the vibration to come and go. If it was a hard part imbalance it would just get worse the faster you go. Try swapping a set of tires from another truck. If it goes away then you know it’s the tires. Could be one that’s separated or just a lousy made tire. All manufacturers factor in that some products will be lower quality, that’s what warranties are for. If everything was perfect the price would be more than double.
Everytime I watch you drive this truck, I regret going with a built 68 over a 6 speed swap. I love my Randy's 68 but growing gears is fun. Thought I'd hate it since I'm always driving an 18 speed log truck but shit, I hardly drive my Dodge anymore.
Greg, im betting the vibration is a tire issue.....nut have you guys checked his motor mounts to see if they may be causing it? Also glad to see Mike around again! You guys building a dragster next?
Have you guys found out whats wrong with the 06 5.9 truck? Im having the same issues and i replaced all front end parts everything. Tires all perfectly balanced properly and im still having the bouncy issues between 75 to 85
I had the shake at 75 and it ended up being my new wheels where balanced wrong. It would go away and pop up out of no where. I would also check for a miss under load it might only show its self when its really under a smooth hig load. Just my thoughts
Sometimes if we have cars come into the shop with drivetrain vibration issues we put them on the lift and see if we can recreate it while it's in the air and look for anything out of the ordinary just be really careful
Torque converter to pump engagement! I had the same issue and chased it the same way he is. Didn't get fixed until the torque converter hub disintegrated! Swapped pump and a new converter and good to go!
I'm convinced UA-camr's keep energy drink companies in business...
I am a youtuber... can confirm.
Right idk anyone who drinks them
People who actually work drink them
juuurrrt lol not
D E ok guy
So when are we going to talk about what’s sitting beside the Pete lol
Dragster, nobodys ready for that conversation tho!
I believe he mentioned that he was getting one way back when he moved from Jersey.
It’s kinda short to handle power of Cummins. 3.9BT dragster maybe. Lol
It’s Micheals rail
Caught it as well.

The OG of OG’s is back in action and she rips the ‘08 is probably my favorite truck out of the bunch
My favorite as well

Looks good man. Proud to see a smile on your face. Its like having a new truck all over again
Man I love that 08, such a boss! Then it's the 05 because the paddle shifting, exhaust sounds and it just rips! Anyway happy birthday Greg🤘🇺🇸 still lovin the content
Tuesday birthday here. Love the 08, keeps me coming back
The OG tow pig sounds so damn mean Greg! LET HER EAT!!lol
I bought the same trans jack when I bought my 10K Atlas lift. Best one I could have bought.
I have to say the 08 is my favorite out of the fleet, then the 02
1:40 really!? What's up with the rail next to the Peterbilt?
I was wondering if anyone else saw that too
Out of every truck in the fleet, I’d love to own the 08 most😍
Check bearings in diff. Had a truck that broke the trans case twice before I found it. Happy birthday.
I saw a rail and what looks like another enclosed trailer, what's going on?
Happy birthday. We need to start go fund me for Mike. 😄

Looks so good lifted and love the exhaust even more without the muffler 😍
Try unbolting the drive shaft and rotating it 180°. Just a thought, everything may not be balanced together even though they have been balanced separately. Harmonics are a tricky thing sometimes. If not that then try getting the duals rebalanced.
is your 5.9 converted to a 2 stroke
Such an epic truck to be giving away! Not to many trucks you can obtain that have such a well documented history of love to look back on. Hoping to be the one to bring this bad larry home! 🤞🤞
Happy birthday, did you buy a dragster? Seen it next to the Peter built when ups pulled up
Some grease in the axle u joints might help the steering, such a overlooked part on most truck.
I'm so happy the 08 is back on the road! Thats the truck that got me to subscribe to the channel and it only got better from there
Mike seems to be hanging out with you a lot more!
If you own a lift or a trailer, you'll always have friends!
Miss when Delton worked at east coast diesel here in Pennsylvania. That man could build a manual trans fairly well
LOVE,LOVE, LOVE a crisp stout cummins WITH the 6spd! 🤙🤙👍

Happy birthday! Love this video! Love seeing the 08 back on the road!!
Dude that ol tow pig sounds so damn good. 🤙 Cool see it out stretching 😎
Happy Birthday Greg!!! 🎂🎁🎉 I love your UA-cam channel, keep up the great work.

that 08 is a dream
Put a hydro assist on it and your streeing will be on point. I built a setup for my jeep with 37s very minty now 👌
Happy birthday buddy. We appreciate what you do.

The glance over to the passenger mirror for the soot check. That's by nature lol.
Only thing left for the 08 is a Bath.. dually issue could still be the driveshaft. I'd try rotating it in the yoke
That 3rd gen 08 is definitely my favorite truck in the fleet
Happy birthday Greg! Good to see the 08 so much recently
A Cummins dragster in the works awesome...
Happy birthday the 08 sounds like my truck now, always slamming gears and past redline
Who did Michael’s 1 piece drive shaft? I have a 2004 1/2 3500 quad cab long bed srw. Keep going through a carrier bearings. 1 every year.
Dude I wanna know also. I've got a 2012 2wd g56 and I want a 1-piece but no one in dallas will make one because of spin speed and crap that cause them to explode under too many gforce or some crap is what I'm told.

Aluminum wheels can cause vibration if lugs are over torqued
Hold up you're not just gonna sneak a rail beside the Pete and not talk about it.....
I saw that too
I figured there was no way I was the only one to see that.
Might pull the drive shaft and check the pinion really good make sure you don’t have a bearing going out.
Dont forget you installed that HD steering box on the 08. I've got one also and it drives really "heavy"

The 08 sounds so damn good going through the gears... love it!
Happy birthday Greg mine is also Sunday the 4th.
God bless I want my 06 with a 6speed now
Check the rear yoke. Or maybe the input shaft
Need a magnaflow muffler has a deeper tone like a semi
I have one on my truck and they are really quite loud
One piece aluminum drives shafts have a speed rating... may ask whoever built it....
3rd gen is looking and sounding mighty fine👌🏻🤘🏻♠️ and happy early birthday brother 🤜🏻🤛🏻🎊🎁
Also pipeline punch is good but you have to try the Rosa!! Second best to the white ones🤘🏻🤘🏻
Happy birthday early for Sunday HOPE you have a great day.
Awsome rig. Does it have a airdog?
Does the steering wheel bind in half turns, if so pull out the steering intermediate shaft, the ujoint in it may be binding, I have replaced tons
Cummins sound is amazing 🤩
Everytime I watch you drive this truck, I regret going with a built 68 over a 6 speed swap. I love my Randy's 68 but growing gears is fun. Thought I'd hate it since I'm always driving an 18 speed log truck but shit, I hardly drive my Dodge anymore.
Sounds good. I think I have 6 speed fever again
awesome to see the 08 banging the gears!
Is that pipe dope your using for them hex block off’s in the monster ram. I was wonder because i have a boost leak because of them.
Get on her Greg, 2 Step launch controller!? Which one would u recommend for my build. I would like it to be universal for an economic sense.
Definitely my favorite Greg A truck
Torque converter forsure. Get it to shake hold it there and take it out of overdrive. Should tell you
Happy early Birthday Greg! I hope you and your family have a good'en, be safe, stay blessed, and keep truck in 👊
82-85??? Is the dampner good on it? And or what is the rear axle ratio?
Greg, im betting the vibration is a tire issue.....nut have you guys checked his motor mounts to see if they may be causing it? Also glad to see Mike around again! You guys building a dragster next?
Have you guys found out whats wrong with the 06 5.9 truck? Im having the same issues and i replaced all front end parts everything. Tires all perfectly balanced properly and im still having the bouncy issues between 75 to 85
Steering feels funny ..while driving a dodge I’m shocked ha
Have the rims them selfs inspected and see if there bent or out of balance them selfs.
I had the shake at 75 and it ended up being my new wheels where balanced wrong. It would go away and pop up out of no where. I would also check for a miss under load it might only show its self when its really under a smooth hig load. Just my thoughts
Happy Birthday Greg. Mine is today.
Damn that thing sounds so good!!
Try clocking the drive shaft over one position.
Greg does this truck have the hamilton 178 208 cam if so does it help ?
Sick truck! What size of lightbar do you have hooked to your bumper, I want to order one for mine but I’m not sure what size I would need.
Happy birthday Greg and did anyone else see the dragster?
Looks like with that turbo/ head/ injector setup it runs pretty clean for that power level.
Balance the drive shaft. And replace the front u joint
I spy a new race trailer next to the big trailer. Probably a trailer for that rail.
What's with the drag car next to the pete?!?!?
Happy birthday brother
What exhuast is on this? Sounds pretty similar to my 06 5.9bwith a 4 inch straight to a 5 inch tip.
Just amazing, sounds great!
can we see a inline exhaust brake on the 08?
What's up with the dragster parked over by the Petercar? @ 23:32
Tires may look new but maybe the belts broke inside the tires or have tires rebalanced, just a suggestion 🤔.
Whats up is that a Cummins swapped rail in the background?
Try rebalancing the tires because you can have a high speed balance.
Sometimes if we have cars come into the shop with drivetrain vibration issues we put them on the lift and see if we can recreate it while it's in the air and look for anything out of the ordinary just be really careful
He's not ready for that yet. Lol. 100 mph is a little scary on the lift.
