Losing a baby calf hurts. Been there, done that. It’s good you have your health and support for each other. Our two sons lost their lives, and that took the heart out of farming. God was there, in our lowest times. Keep praying
When I was young my grandpa had a cow in labor and a bad storm was coming so he had my brothers and sister help look for her. He was so worried about that cow. We found her the next day in a swollen creek with the calf half out of her but she had drowned and the calf was dead too. Man I will never ever forget that horrible scene and my grandpa crying.
Definitely heartbreaking. My daughter and son-in-law lost 2 newborn calves during that horrible artic storm. One died right after birth. The other one lived for 2 days. He couldn't stand to nurse because both hind legs were turned a little at the hooves. They tube feed him in the house by the fireplace to keep him warm until the vet's office opened. The vet gave him 5 different meds and he was looking better. They made him brace supports for both hind legs so he could stand. They tried to get him up to nurse and he passed away. It was a very sad time for all of the family. To make it worse both mamas were calling and crying for their dead babies. They didn't understand the calves passed away and were trying to find their babies. Man, it's hard to even talk about it.
I grew up on a family farm and, every time there was stock loss, it would really bother me. That's when my Grandpap John would always say 'we tried our best but when the going gets tough, the tough get going...buck it up lad because life goes on.' Hats off to both of you for doing what you could do with a tough situation! Stay safe - be well.
I am from South Dakota but have been in California the last 30yrs. Been watching all the farmers on youtube since were on quarantine. Not only do you feed us now you are my main entertainment. What can't farmers do !! THANK YOU !! May God bless your planting season
Sorry about the loss of the calf, hopefully the cow will do OK.You and your dad really do take good care of your cattle-I can see that by the way they look.
“Boss, boss de plane, de plane !” That comment is from the show : Fantacy Island ! It came on right after the Love Boat show. I watched it all the time when I was a kid !
My uncle raised cattle for all his life. Every year it seemd he lost a calf or two died its a sad fact , lots of times he got twins and was able to pair one to one that lost hers.
Thank you for all you do. It takes special people to do what you do. Most think their meat and milk come from the store, but it comes from the farmers who work 24/7 in all kinds of weather. Your hero’s too!
Prayers for you and your family for the loss of the calf. I was so sadden at the time you and your dad were working on her but all in all she will have more.
Sorry for the loss guys, but your loss provided valuable information for all of us, so there is a positive side to it. On the flip side, our farm had it’s first calf born today.👍🏻 thanks for sharing
Vegas Gurl ! You bet, I just found this channel, and enjoy it. Yes they both figured it out. Nursing calf and protective momma👍🏻. Be watching, he got a great name! 😂😉
I have just started to watch your videos. Sorry about the calf. At least you saved the mama. It is good that you show what it is like on a working farm. Life is not always sunshine and roses.
Those of us who have raised livestock, have all been there. Sad, but, life has to go on. I had to have my dear corgi dog put to sleep last week, i tried everything with his vet, but, it was of no use, he had been with me for 12 years.Hope things get better for you all.
I'm very sorry for your loss, truly. It's so obvious that y'all care for the animals in your care, over and above what they mean in $. You do everything you can to keep them healthy and happy, and it shows. Mental health of farmers and ranchers is sadly something not taken in the concern it needs to be. I'm proud of y'all for saying that things touch you emotionally, and that it takes time...
So sorry for the loss of the calf. She looked like a beauty...you'll have more for sure....! Your hearts are in the right place. 💕✋ keep on keeping on.
It really sucks when you lose a calf, cow, bull, especially a dog. But these things happen and you tried your best. Sometimes you lose and sometimes you win. It usually takes us a day or two to get over the loss as animals are living creatures and we care for them. Sorry for your loss.
Sorry about the loss of the baby calf. Hopefully you will find a calf for mom to raise. Father and son make a good team. Thank you for sharing. Love your videos.
I love watching your videos. Educational, informative, fun, interesting, important, and human. I feel like I missed something in life by not ever having lived or worked on a farm!!
Sorry about the calf. Any loss is hard. I’m glad you have each other to lean on in good times and bad. On another note I’m really enjoying your videos and seeing the relationship that you share. Stay well.
To me that is one of the saddest things to deal with is losing a calf. Lost one recently to a flash flood. You grieve over it, take care of it and move on.
The plane! Just started watching you guys. I have learned a lot already, having grown up in the city. Love the way you work together. Dad you have the same good taste in music as I do!
Sorry about losing the calf. Hopefully mom will be ok. Prayers are with you guys. Please be safe in these tough times. God bless all you great farmers,
Im so sorry for the loss of the calf..I can see that you guys are good people..You are also the hardest working folks around. My parents and grandparents were all farmers or grew up on farms..I heard all their farm stories when I was kid..I am a city girl and would be lost on a farm...God bless you folks
I’m so sorry for everything today!! I hope the cow recovers well! I know you guys will make sure that she is as comfortable as can be! Poor thing!! 💗💗💗
Brian and Cole, great video. People who have never been involved in Agriculture have no idea what you guys go through. I think our dad did a great job talking about staying safe and healthy during this difficult situation we're in. Take care & God Bless you guys!
We been dealing with scours in our calves, trying to keep em all alive and healthy. Love your videos, you edit them great, like the different angles and cut from scene to scene. Real work on your farm with some humor! Good stuff.
You make some really good videos. My uncle is a farmer/rancher in Willow Lake, SD and my dad and I raise cattle in north Texas. I can tell you without a doubt ranching is a lot easier in TX but it takes a lot more land to make a living here.
Your family is blessed to have your father showing you the best way to live. Oh thanks for the videos I love them. Your father reminds me of my father bless his soul🙏
You guys did a real good job with this video for what you had to work with. Life on a farm can try the best of us. Appreciate you showing the good with bad.! I enjoyed listening to your father speak. Keep up the good work and thank you.
#Guys I’m sorry For the loss of the calf. I can tell It was a heartbreaking loss. Y’all be Safe and take care of one another. I’m a new subscriber and I don’t know your names. I have been watching your vids for about a week now. I’m glad you stayed home with your dad. I did see you wanted to go somewhere on spring break. It would have Not Be Worth It. You needed to stay home and your dad needed you to stay home. It would have been a heavy strain on both of you. I will pray for both of you and for any other ppl there that I haven’t seen, yet. Blessings, Marylouise in Arkansas
Sonne Farms Cole I truly am very glad and happy you decided to stay with, Brian, your dad. I had trouble going to sleep that night I watched the vid and you spoke of going off for the rest of spring break. The World is a Very Dangerous Place these Days 😪 And as much as he needs you, you need him just as bad. 😊👍 🌈
You did what you could. We had a few stillborns and feet back- we learned how to reposition feet and pull the calf - easier to get three hands/arms inside a holstein! Prayer helps- we prayed a lot with calving and we’ll be praying for you and your farm.
It is good to explain this to people who don't know the sorrow farmers go through. So many people think it is easy. You breed the cow and it has a baby and that is all there is too it. But sometimes it will go bad and people know that there are losses in life and you are explaining the pain you have seeing the baby die and trying to help momma deal with it also. Best of life to you.
Sorry about the calf, thank God the mom is ok and didn't end up with a uterine tear or worse. Hope you find a baby for her. Watch out for dem planes boss 🙂, I loved that show!.
What a great Father and Son,God bless keep safe. My mother’s side of the family were farmers. Hardest workers ever. P.S. also goes for their daughters, according to my mother.
Hi guys just watch your most recent video, I know it's part of farming but it doesn't make it any easier. But seeing the two new calves after that was uplifting keep up the great work, we love what you're doing. God bless and be safe Mike and Sherrill in Arizona

Sorry for your loss. My only experience of hard births was a foal that was stuck. It had a Blue tongue, but as soon as we pulled her out she was Lively and kneighed. Next thing was to rescue The excausted mare. We always gives The foals Milk in a bottle so they get up on their feet quicker. The Umbilical cord shall transfer The plasma for at least 5-10 min. On humans they CUT it and Steals The blood wich gives The baby strength and a start of The Immunesystem. Thanks for sharing.

Had to pull a calf yesterday. It was the 2nd twin. I kept saying " these are the back legs". So we moved quickly and the cow has 2 live calves. She has had twins 3 out of 5 years. We had 6 calves before lunch.
You guys stay safe and well. Grew up on a cattle farm in Kansas, and went through calving season just like you guys are. Stay healthy, too, and keep the vids coming. Enjoy watching you guys.
Sadly were you have livestock you have daedstock my gramps always said. Sadly its true. You boys did all you could for the heifer and her calve. You care and look after your stock and you can't do no more. Thanks for sharing the good with the bad a real farming life. Great video

It was still a rescue mission. Got to save the mama. She’ll live to have more in the future. You did the best you could have done.

Beef prices at the store are up
Cattle market prices still aren't.
Something needs to give to the farmers.
The packing plants and buyers are killing us but lining pockets buy your meat from the rancher instead ove the store
@Weaver Cattle Company thears no doubt about it the packing plants totally control the market but the ? Is how many pople know that when I tell them thear dumbfounded and thear trying to do the same thing in the goat market as well best advice I can give is get dept free so you can control your own destiny and not half to answer to a bank they got a lot to do with the mess ass well I'm luck I who no money told the buyers to stick hoping get stuff sold off the place instead ove sale barn or buyer
That’s why we buy from a butcher who buys local or raise our own, would love to have one of sonne farms angus claves unfortunately logistically it would not be feasible
Buy direct. There are plenty of good reputable farms around to do this for all your needs. Meat, dairy, poultry, veggies, etc. buy direct! Save the farms. It may cost you more but in the end it’ll save your health, so isn’t it worth the costs?
It happens. Hope the mom pulls through. You did your best.

that is sad, Glad she had you around to help,, she could have died also,, great framers,,
Brothers in arms!
If the hair is starting to slip it usually means the calf has been dead for over 24hrs.
When you see cleanings before a water bag it's an emergency. The calf has started to detach from the buttons (codaleadens) wich supplies oxygen.
Always sucks loosing a calf.
Keep up the good work fellas and thank you for the videos. You educate lots of people about this important industry.
God bless you guys you do a good job in the snow in the mud
Lot of authenticity and caring in this upload boys! Y’all do it right. Y’all do it right. Better day tomorrow!👍👍👍
