"Deep Purple is still out, but they just inducted MADONNA."
One of my favorite songs of all time!! My kids grew up on this song, they are 17 and 23 and love it. It reminds them of mom! This song is just plain fun.
This is a cover of the original song by Soul Brothers Six, 1967. The two songs are very close. GFR took advantage of better recording sound systems. But if you want a GFR ballad you got to go with the live version of "Heartbreaker" and "Mean Mistreater" off the Grand Funk (Live Album) from 1970 remastered in 2002.
Great reaction❤ My favorite by GFR is I'm your Captain/Closer to Home. I think you guys would enjoy it. Great band 😊 Studio version before a live version.
Grand funk railroad right on. One of my father's favorites. I remember all the albums when I was a child. Miss you, daddy, love you rest in peace. I am carrying on the tradition with my friends here at air Play Beats.good morning Fellas. brings back a lot of memories and I do appreciate it. God bless you Rock On.
I truly relate & feel for you brother..I am the very last surviving member of my family & am also carrying on ALL of their love for music..R.I.P. Robert,, Muriel,, Jeri & Jackie 🙏❤️
Made a tear come to my eye. Thank you for that. I needed It. remember they still live on In all of the beautiful memories. And we still have all this great music. They turned us on too. God bless you.
OMG you guys NEED to hear I'm Your Captain. Total departure for them and completely epic. It will take you on a journey! We'll be here to go on that journey with you.
Every time I hear GFR, I think of my oldest brother (turning 70 this month) because he played them all the time. Great memories! Great job! Thank you for this.💜
Saw grand funk railroad in 75 awsome ... That night my mates and myself went over to earls court to que up for led zeppelin gigs later that year ... they should be in the hall of fame for sure ..
Originally written by John Ellison (a guitarist ) and recorded by his band: Soul Brothers Six, out of Rochester, N.Y. Grand Funk covered the song in the '70s (in their heyday) and had superb success with it (likely the best-known and best-selling version of the song, of all time). --NOT to be confused with the completely different song, of the same TITLE, by The Drifters [of "Under the Boardwalk" fame...] -which was written by King/Goffin [Carole King and Gerry Goffin].
Thanks guys, that's my favorite Grand Funk Record, for the soul. Can I get a witness!? The way I heard it Grand Funk Railroad is a nod to Michigan's Grand Trunk Railroad.
So many wonderful bands and performers that should be in this rock and roll hall of fame and aren't this a yet another group who should have been long ago
Wonderful choice La & Che, Grand Funk Railroad has some truly great tunes, and (IMHO) they have been sorely overlooked. Whenever, I hear this song it always makes me laugh, my cousin's fiancé played this song as the opening song after the father's dance with the bride. And I don't think there was a guest not dancing, either with someone or just standing in place. lol🕺💃Beautiful memories. Here's another one of their songs, if interested. "Grand Funk Railroad - Closer To Home (I'm Your Captain" (by the channel: Grand Funk Railroad) --This song was written by Mark Farner and is from their third studio album called "Closer To Home." It was released in 1970 and most notably "Closer To Home" reached RIAA gold record status in 1970 making it the group's third gold record in one year. Lots more great tunes to check out, if interested. Thanks for sharing, fellas I had fun.
I'm so glad you guys reacted to this song! It's such a gem. I can't help but smile every time I hear it. It's so cool to watch you two listen to great songs. You make me wish I could hear them again for the first time.
They did a little bit of everything and they did it good. If anyone remembers that they were the band that didn't play around when they did a show. Grand Funk Railroad was not afraid to play with anyone but some bands didn't want to play with the Funk!
I havent heard this in so long! Sooo good. Yes indeed a funky love song! Love this song!❤ Can you please react to Crying Everyday by the BeeGees (1981 from the Living Eyes album) It has a driving bass and funky too!!❤❤❤ Love your analysis & take on music! Keep up the good work!❤
Love,GFR❤ Can I get a witness?😂 Soo Great 💯 Thanks for jamming them 🤘🎧 maybe you could jam The Loco-Motion it's a great song and has dance that goes with it that everyone knows 🥁👍🇺🇲 also American Band is another great song 💯Love you guys and your reactions are spot on🎧✌️📀 Rock on and Rock hard 😅🤘✌️🇺🇸🎵🦾
Love this tune and GFR! The Funk was very big in the 70’s for sure..I remember this album playing…3 guys living in a 2 br house…one of my roomies wore by whitey tighties and put them back in my drawer, skids intact….I moved out after that lol!
Grand FUNK! I've been a fan since 1970 when I saw them tear up the stage live. Could you play some songs from their live album, I'd love to see your reactions. I believe Mark Farner was the lead vocalist.
This song is a reworked remake of the Soul Brothers Six song from a few years before. The story goes the band would sing the song to warm up their vocals enroute to the show in their limo. The limo driver tells them they ought to record the song and the rest is history. You still have to check out their 'Sin's a good man's brother' a hard rock banger.
Yes, drummer Don Brewer Swartz Creek Michigan’s very own is lead vocals!!
This group was just what America needed back when UK was slamming the world stage.
Oh yeah the organ comes in when its time for church! love it
It's a shame these boys ain't been inducted into the Hall of Fame yet. I think a online petition should be started.
Screw the RRHF....Too political now, just like Rolling Stone magazine...
for sure a travesty
They got rid of that dipwad Jann...so that's a start.@@jordan390a
Don't artists pay for their own induction?

They are the pride of Flint, Michigan.
One of my favorite songs of all time!! My kids grew up on this song, they are 17 and 23 and love it. It reminds them of mom! This song is just plain fun.
Thanks to Tod Rundgren who produced the American Band Album and re-energized their floundering popularity.

Proud to be from Michigan. GFR were some of our finest!
Michigan has some great artists. Mitch Ryder, Bob Seger, all of motown.
This is a song where you take your lady out for karaoke and you surprise her by singing this to her….with all your heart and soul!
OMG you guys NEED to hear I'm Your Captain. Total departure for them and completely epic. It will take you on a journey! We'll be here to go on that journey with you.
Best thing to ever come out of Flint, Michigan!
I can't believe there are people on this planet that never heard this song. 😉
I’m sure I can find some more who haven’t heard it. 😂
@@AirplayBeats Please listen to Paul Simon. "Late In The Evening" awesome song
This is Mark Farner, the guitarist singing.
It's both...starts with Don Brewer than goes to Mark...
This band was on fire in the 70s . It was part my childhood.
Power Funk. The Pride of Flint Michigan 🌄🏊
You guys make my day better. Love watching your reactions on the daily.
This is a cover.
The original was released in 1967 by the group Soul Brothers Six.
It was definitely a much bigger hit for Grand Funk, though.
An awesome number, great bass and drums, and of course the voices! 🎶🎶🥁🎸👍👍
Agree with recommendations for Mean Mistreater and Heartbreaker.
This group always performed great live no cover up.
Every time I hear GFR, I think of my oldest brother (turning 70 this month) because he played them all the time. Great memories! Great job! Thank you for this.💜
I sing along with this song to my soul mate everytime we listen to it. And that's a lot I have a lot of GFR , love their music.✌️

The ultimate dance floor song.
They said that they used to sing this song on the way to do their shows in order to get their voices in sync.

'I can feel him in the morning '. If you haven't heard this one before, please give it a try. Well worth listening to.

Mark Farner is the singer with back up. Excellent group.

Dat Bass - Grand Funk knew how to turn up that Bass Line. They deserve the FUNK in their band's name.
I love this song!!!!!! It’s just so good!
Grand Funk has soft rock, Heavy Metal, Blues, Soul, Pop, Funk, even Gospel.
They are the grand daddy's of Metal.
Always happy to hear some Grand Funk Railroad!! They just don’t miss! Good times..👊🏼👊🏼
Grand Funk. 😊 i was wearing their rock t today🤘❤️ i surely have a bunch of rock band t’s. Just about all i wear around
I read somewhere that they used to play this song and sing it accapalla to warm up and someone said you really should record it. They did.
They do great cover songs with their own spin. Feelin Alright , Gimme Shelter ,locomotion are 3 that come to mind
They did a little bit of everything and they did it good. If anyone remembers that they were the band that didn't play around when they did a show. Grand Funk Railroad was not afraid to play with anyone but some bands didn't want to play with the Funk!
😎👍
Grand Funk Railroad
"American Band" next!
LOVE ME SOME GFR!!! THANKS, GUYS!!! MADE MY DAY!!
Great song played in my senior class cafeteria on our senior class stereo!
This is my favorite song of Grand Funk Railroad.
Your next stop on the GFR trip should be "Mean Mistreater"

Solid Detroit rock. The critics didn't like them much, but they sold a lot of tickets for their live shows.
