- Rockpile, one of the top-tier British Pub rock bands and one of their best live versions of this song. And a great finish that starts from 3:25 and where drummer Terry Williams plays his part!!!
"There's a girl my lord,
I see her stop, check, turn and double back.
I'm lookin' for a lover in the heart of the city"
A Rockpile concert in the late ‘70’s was a guaranteed great night out... a phenomenal live band you could see for a very reasonable ticket price.
Terry is one of the best drummers and also played with many pub rock bands (Rockpile, The Motors, Graham Parker, Mickey Jupp, Dire Straits, Ian Dury & The Blockheads)
In 1981 my band were sent to a small studio to record some B sides. We were dropped off at a large terraced house and told to make ourselves known. I knocked /rang the door and then almost fell over when my all time hero, Nick Lowe, opened the door. It was his house and the studio was built in the two ground floor reception rooms. Spent some time chatting with him and Carlene Carter, and playing his red 8 string bass. The absolute highlight of my music career. I love that man and I love Rockpile.
Love Billy Bremner's backing vocals
Seeing Rockpile live in 1979 was the first time I had ever been brought to tears by a musical performance. They absolutely destroyed me in 50 minutes!
THIS is Rock N Roll. Fantastic.
There's two versions on vinyl one sung by DE which misses out the wonderful paradiddle buildup that Terry Williams does. The other features the track in full. My God what a band. I've seen the Who, Beatles, Love Sculpture, Bowie, Eric, Rory, even Hendrix, and many others but none, NONE ever topped Rockpile for me
Good golly they brought the goods, I don’t think they realized at the time how good they were and the lasting impact on bands in their wake
The powerhouse skill of the two guitars operating on the very edge is what makes Rockpile a different animal to the Stones say.
I can’t imagine why this band wasn’t more popular.
Wow! What a version!
This is the last honest stand of true rock n roll!!!!
I just tore the walls down.........Incredible rock and roll!
Fun to remember when you were young! At least our crowd had taste!!
Goin to shows for 51 years… ROCKPILE is the tightest 1 HR SET I’ve ever seen.
WOW!
one of the tightest bands ever
This really is better than the TV versions flying around. Thank you!
seen rockpile live @ My Fathers Place, got blown away what a band.
Superb!
