Tewksbury, MA (Big K., closed for a long time now, a very early closure), Billerica, MA (original 1975 store closed late last year) and Salem, NH (closed last year, used briefly in the fall as "Spirit of Halloween.") Just letting you know that fin feather fur outfitters has been a separate store from that Kmart for years. Multiple stores called it home before fin feathers did. I remember two of the old stores one of them was a guitar store and the other one a dollar store
Was originally guessing a grocery store next to the Kmart. As most old kmarts and retail stores back in the 60s and 70s had grocery stores next door to them. It was also a dollar paradise for awhile then that fin fur place it is now!
That Kmart sign by the street probably has the original Kmart logo (before “Big”) on it under the Big K sign and the sign for Leewards (a craft store) under the plate for Fin Feather Fur, since that was the original tenant on that space. That other smaller sign was probably a later replacement. They’re close to the street because of the city ordinance against tall signs.
That and the One in My hometown of Brunswick still has there signs up, till Marc's takes over in the Fall(The one in Brunswick) Pretty cool you were able to see this, thanks for sharing one from ohio.
There's an abandon K Mart here, about a half mile down the road. It closed in 2017. Amazon bought it, and is spending 20 million on renovations to make it a distribution center.
I miss Kmart here in kalispell montana we used to shop there all the time when we would come down to do some snowboarding from canada. Kmart left Canada in 1998 yup you guessed it Walfart made them go under here too.
Hey Wallie! My local Kmart closed back in 2017-2018. It was originally a big Kmart that was downsized/degraded to a regular Kmart in the 00’s. I remember instead of building like a temporary wall to block off the grocery area, they just had a big black tarp going from the front to the back of the store. It was so janky, I laughed every time I took a visit by it. But the sad part is they just left the abandoned grocery part to just rot and wither away. I remember going right at the start of the liquidation sale and peeking behind the tarp seeing it so broken down and just pitiful. The rest of the store wasn’t much better, there was water damage in the ceiling all over the store, like most of the stores the shelves were in disarray, the lights were constantly flickering, garden center was rotting, layaway looked like the closed off portion of the store, it was just completely pitiful and pathetic honestly. It’s such a shame that the store went into that bad of shape over so many years. After the store closed it was disgraced by being remodeled into a Hobby Lobby of all things.

That was part of Kmarts undoing! Never totally updating their stores and this is a prime example of half assed attempt with half newer logo and old 80s Big Kmart logo circa 1985ish to 90s

I can only remember that the A/C was always on full blast at my childhood store and those circle vents would blow a few light things around if they got put under them. My only actual memory was during liquidation when there was police tape everywhere and missing shelves (I don't remember closing signs anywhere) but I didn't realize it was closing down.

If you do make it to Florida, you may want to hit up the Florida Mall in Orlando - Prior to the pandemic, it was (and may still be) a very busy mall. So busy, in fact, that Eddie hasn't managed to run the Sears into the ground, at least not yet.
