So, I have a question for you. The MQB chassis is good, but why not build your track car around the Audi TTS platform? You would still have the EA888 motor to tune, plus its already much better dynamically on the track over a Golf R, at 110 Lbs lighter.
For drag racing, heavy traffic and speed automatic for sure. But I like the manual. For me its more fun. You can power out of the curves and have a better connection with the car. The older gen VW dsg the mechatronics unit was the weak point if the whole system like a $1400 part but they solved that in the mk7 gen I believe. I haven’t heard of any major issues from the newer ones.

Why is the owner of this car continually looking at the gauges every time he shifts? Is this a thing with DSG owners, because they aren't getting that much feel through the driving and transmission experience like us manual guys get, where we know when exactly to shift, what gear we are in, and what rpm we are in, without looking? I don't know why I noticed this, but I did, and it a little odd...
I don't believe auto better for track clutch is a guaranteed shift sometimes dsg is not always on point and can change itself or take long to change down if your revs high
I love my 6spd manual on my MK7 GTI when the clutch is working correctly, but I am on my 5th clutch with this car after 160k miles of use. This has been very annoying because 4 of these clutches have failed due to the tob/slave failing and having the brake fluid contaminating the clutch pressure plate, disk, and flywheel. Not a single doubt in my mind that you should've bought a DSG, especially considering that you knew that you're going to build up a track car. Certainly what i would've done and it's like you said in the video yourself : most people that were building up manual track cars would sell them later on for a DSG. That's simply because even though everything possible is done on the car, there's always going to be the manual box that will limit your track performance. Pls do this video for an m140i
Dsg all the way
Dsg boring and no skill needed yes they are quick but that's it people are too hooked up on times and not driving skill or pleasure, manual your more involved with the driving and requires skills especially to shift fast and knowing when to change, I've had both and as a drivers car manual but I'd have dsg for round town n that
@@TheSlashHunter clearly no clue by what i mean 🤦♂️
@@andy110492it’s not hard to shift manuals fast. Been there done that. Dsg is the one , faster, sounds better too
@@F80.M3 dsg farts do not sound better jesus almost as bad as pop n bang maps, yet so many fail to change gears fast and at the right times, dsg faster but boring I've owned both
@@andy110492 who the hell cares about “skill” lmao, neither you or I are professionals so I don’t really get these comments.
@@GolfRJ cause any fat lazy man or little kid can put his foot down n go look i can drive fast when a computer is doing and that is why so many golf r, audi s3 etc end up written off, dsg tc abs heldex which most people dont know ain't a permanent four wheel drive all give people fails hope they can actually drive well and fast while reading the road and that is why people need skill
Manual for more engagement for me. Personally for me DSG farts sound like something is breaking.
quicker on track - dsg, more driver involvement reward - manual. But if you wanted a quick track car there would have been better options than a Golf R, so it surely must be the Manual Golf R is the better choice
I would take the manual awesome video 👍
get the guy a looser fitting shirt. oh gosh.
Nah, manual was a good shout 100%
Dsg over a manual all day why do you want a clutch? Dsg can drive manual up and down on gear stick like sequential I don’t get what more driver involvement you want it’s just people talking 💩
Manual all day. DSG is just boring. DSG maybe faster but driving is all about how the car makes you feel. I have a 3 door Gti manual 7.5, which in my opinion is the best golf ever!
The original MK1 Golf GTi 1600 cc, with the four speed box is the best Golf ever!
I dunno man .... Funny you mention DSG = someone has fitted the DSG system to a Focus RS MK1 !!! And im talking mating it to the original zetec / duratec engine! Thats says it all! FFS i removed my aircon! FAIL!
DSG is boring. Had three of them.
If they are "boring" why did you have three?...............
Manual is boring
Love ya Luke love the channel but that splitter is funny man it’s horrendous 😂😂😂 I totally get the idea behind it though
This was a fun vid
I think the manual is more applicable for RWD cars for drifting, for the rest DCT is better
This a Golf r road/track car then there's the brought online Wish version 😂
Wondering which is which 😂
(Brought) online? You mean bought?
Manual golf all day long. I’d prefer as you said from the intro a more driver focused car
Manual all day bro.
Golf r is just an op car😊
I have a Manual Mk6 R I went with it cause I'm keeping the car
That’s splutter looks like a sheet of plywood, for the love of god paint it at least
Race cars are better suited to auto. Road cars are better suited to manual
horrible spliters both, and dsg is very efficient but way to boring....one handed single foot 80 year old can drive that white car....
Manual for sure as the new mk8 is dsg only in UK. Just thing years ago all the decent hot hatches was manual only we are a generation of lazy drivers and any old idiot can launch and drive a dsg fast
Euro 7..........................
You bought the wrong car all together! VWs are like BMWs very unreliable. Like the cars had both but will not buy them anymore.
What would you buy now? I find everything is getting unreliable now apart from an old school hilux 🤣
You moaning about that now yeah ffs🤔🙄
No DSG is boring asf
