- Army to get Arjun Mark1A from 2024
In the year 2021, MoD has placed an order for 118 MBT Arjun Mark-1A worth Rs 7,523 crore activating the AVNL (Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited) production line which was idle for almost 10 years. The first batch of Arjun MBT will be delivered to Indian Army by March 2024 and the order is expected to be complete by 2026. It has also been reported that DRDO has approached Indian Army for more orders of Arjun Mark-1A. Arjun MK1A is 68 tonne most lethal, sophisticated and all-weather rugged bull of Indian Army. The MK1A version comes with 72 improvements including 14 major upgrades specifically requested by Army. It will also be the safest tank of Indian Army.

Recently, DRDO chief has given an extensive interview to Focus News where he has explained about the DRDO’s roadmap till 2030 to achieve self-reliance in defense technologies. The DRDO chief has explained that the roadmap of DRDO by 2030 focuses on new research areas like Artificial Intelligence, Smart Materials, Quantum technology, Asymmetric technologies and Cognitive Technologies.
DRDO will come up with many more new innovations like Next Generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), LCA AF Mk-II, Long Range Radars, Advanced missile technologies, Arjun Mk II etc.
Earlier, it was considered that the Arjun Mark-II project is almost dead there has not been any news on its development. However, DRDO Chief has confirmed that the Arjun Mark II is under upcoming projects for DRDO which is a welcome news not only for Indian Army but also for Indian defense ecosystem.
This will ensure that the learning from development of Arjun Mark1/1A and Light tank under development can further be matured and enhanced in the upcoming Arjun Mark-II project. The Arjun Mark-II can be offered to Indian Army for its FRCV Requirement.Join this channel to get access to perks:

Hope. MK1A will be delivered in time. Also Army will be satisfied with the performance of MK2 and doesn't create any road blocks against it.
It is better to invest in indigenous tanks and improve it we have seen in the Ukraine war that it is german or Russian no tank is safe .
Actually German tanks are safer than Russian tin cans.
The idea of tanks being the main offensive weapons is old. In the age of drones and hypersonic missiles, tanks are just sitting targets.

I hope they consider about the mobility test, I mean Arjun mk1 is most maneuverable tank ever in world and it's disadvantage is it's speed , i hope drdo will look into the problem along with not loosing the maneuverable ability

The French Leclerc platform is a solid MBT that one can learn from and even work with Nexter to improve the Arjun to MK III and more advanced platforms
What would Nexter want to 'work with' (i.e. give away all their tech to) India when they can just sell Nexter tanks to India? They are a business not a charity. Beggars gonna beggar, I suppose.

Completely disagree, the Leclerc is specifically designed to fit into the war fighting doctrine of France and probably won't be a good fit for us to follow as a model especially considering the diversity of terrain that IA has to work with.

Should try benchmarking against Panther KF 51... or tie up for with them to co - develop as we did with K9 vajra.... it's quickest way to improve your armour....any way the numbers will be limited....a localised version can follow up as mk 2....
68 tons is quite heavy for engagement in the Himalayas .
Advancement of The active protection system is very crucial for a tank , after seeing how Ukrainians made short works of Russian tanks.
Another thing that India has to master is mass production.
For the Himalayan region, a light tank called Zoravar is being currently developed.

This is for the western front against Pak army. It’s perfect for desert warfare as its footprint is lighter despite its weight. I just hope the government isn’t slow in upgrading the road infrastructure to support this weight.
For China, DRDO is making a light tank (as others have already mentioned) and there is also T72.
What India needs to do is upgrade every Arjun and T90 tank with APS and drone jamming tech. Without this, tanks are sitting ducks to drones and ATGMs.

Why front armour of our tank is so poor ?
This tank should have 120mm German Rheinmetall RH-120 which is a smooth bore gun or Rheinmetall RH-130 which 130mm with autoloader.

Now that India has mastered the manufacture of Arjun Main Battle Tank. India needs to have a nuclear power for the Arjun tank.
That's too ambitious as well as dangerous.. Nuclear propulsion is for aircraft carriers and submarines..
@@India-bharat-hind not necessarily. Indian scientist has come out with a thorium battery that lasts 25000 years without recharge. So you can have a tank with nuclear propulsion.

The use of autonomous robotic vehicles with long range anti-tank and anto drone/helicopter and jamming and radar and optical sensors is the future, used with and ahead of tanks. Robotic anti-tank weapons - which are camoflaged and scattered at mountain tops and overviewing passes and will scan for and destroy moving objects from 2km or more.
Drdo needs to develope a stronger smooth bore gun130 mm,anti drone system,change turret design and also modify arjun chassis a little also don't add mine plough reduce the weight by adding in lighter material
