    Many times on northern trucks the fuel line on top of the tank (sending unit) will rot out and pull air. I had to replace the tank, fuel supply/return lines and so on.

    Great video. I’m not getting fuel to the new lift pump. When I cracked the old pump, not much dropped from tank side line.. is my sender clogged?

    • @nicksnextproject535
      @nicksnextproject535  12 днів тому

      There is no sender in the tank. It is just a float gauge. You might try blowing air from the line at the lift pump back or just drop the tank if you think the pickup tube is clogged.

    Why wouldn't you just lower the Fuel tank down instead of cutting a hole in the bed?

    The biggest issue was the engine oil psi switch in the valley.

      @WildAthletics Рік тому

      I've heard that's only an issue on the older 6.5s. But I'm going to swap mine anyway. I think the optical sensor on the injection pump is causing my issues though.

    • @marcusaurelius7472
      @marcusaurelius7472 Рік тому

      It could also be a ground issue on the oil psi switch circuit. Check all the ground and powers/ load test the wires with a sealed beam headlight to see if the wires are pushing the load through. If you have voltage and it cranks over fast enough its either fuel or glowplugs. No heat in the cylinders and ots never going to fire up. Rx diesel glow plugs are the best in my opinion.

  • @ESLinsider
    @ESLinsider Рік тому

    1:24 you point to a ground yet i didn't see a wire and I can't seem to find any ground on the intake. I've seen some pics towards the back right passenger side but mine (2003 P42 6.5 diesel) doesn't have one.

    • @nicksnextproject535
      @nicksnextproject535  Рік тому

      Gotcha. This is a 97 and there is a wire coming off the nut at 1:24. I think it goes to the battery but id have to look at the truck.

      @@nicksnextproject535 Ok. Maybe I'll try following the wire from the battery up to the engine then. The batteries are under the steps into the van.

      In dealerships we obviously weren’t allowed.
      In fleet they are a good thing, but we clipped the wire and added a small tucked away toggle switch- haha.
      You can guess where mine go. Haha

    Should u leave that little air cap thing on the fuel filter loose or tight after u let the air out? I changed the filter and then noticed it was leaking so I tightened the little air cap or whatever that thing is called

    • @nicksnextproject535
      @nicksnextproject535  Рік тому +2

      that cap is only loosened when you are bleeding air and should be tight

    I have a 04 hummer and can not locate a relay for pump ! Fuses are all good ! No start . Pmd was relocated ,
    Is there a way to know for sure if the l.p. Is bad ?

      I think I would check the fuel pressure at the fuel bleeder which on mine is located on top of the radiator with a 1/4 male connector. You could put a pressure gauge on it and jump the lift pump. Not sure if your wiring is the same regarding how I jumped the pump to test it in the video.

    • @nicksnextproject535
      @nicksnextproject535  5 місяців тому

      @@cdm1012 I would check all the fuses. There was a relay that I pull out to jump the lift pump and I have ran the truck with that relay removed and the lift pump jumpered so I dont think that relay runs the PMD. That fuel relay and the PMD are both pretty cheap parts to replace before taking it to a mechanic. Again I would look at all fuses under the hood and in the driver side dash panel.

      I used the jumper wire to bleed mine after changing the filter. If your pump comes on with the key, that might also work rather than the jumper wire. On this model year in the video, I dont believe the lift pump comes on with the key.

      If I was your neighbor I would try. From here, I can suggest taking it to a mechanic which I figure thats not what you want to hear. One good test is to check if any air bubbles are coming into the fuel filter housing.
