As dated as the interior looks, it looks amazingly functional. It's almost like the designers focused solely on utility and put everything else second (including aesthetics). That's very interesting for a new car in 2021.
One interesting fact about those column mounted shifters, they are directly inherited from the EVO X MR SST DCT column mounted shifter, and they are both solid magnesium paddles feels very premium when you operating them(designed as a performance part). As a EVO X owner seeing those paddles feels extra familiar although my manual GSR didn't get it. I think Mitsubishi just pull those parts out of EVO parts bin when they are designing both Outlander and Eclipse cross and add them on.
My thoughts too. It’s not flashy by any means but it’s practical and has all of the basics. Also with the new generation coming out, the older one will only get cheaper. It’s definitely not a bad deal.
Both the exterior and interior look like it's from 2010 or late 2000s, it's so painfully outdated. It would be cool if it was outdated but cheap but this thing is $36,000 dollars. It's kind of hard to justify this over the competitors...
I traded in a 7 year old cr-v for a 2021 outlander, and the few grand i paid was the best money i ever spent on a car. Coming from 2 liter vtec to outlander certainly made it feel like i purchased a sports car :) There's nothing i miss or thought honda did better. Noticeable improvements: sound isolation, cross winds stability, headlights, audio quality, interior quality. Only thing that time must tell: will it be as reliable, the cr-v had almost no problems the whole time i owned it. But from what i have read the outlander should also be very reliable.
I mean Mitsubishi does some things right, but mostly, their vehicles are not as good as they were with their performance vehicles. I think that's the Mitsubishi that people love the most.
This car actually arrived for MY2014 in European and Asian markets. The powertrain was very advanced for its time. That said because they sold so well and Mitsubishi's small presence in North America, the PHEV didn't cross the pond until MY2018. The car is old and now the PHEV drivetrain is now overshadowed by the Rav4 Prime and Tucson PHEV. The MY2023 Outlander PHEV with the new redesign and uprated powertrain should be far improved.
im from Philippines and this one is way more expensive than the Montero sport that we have right know it's worth 3 million pesos plus here in Philippines
I drive for work, and whenever I'm stuck in a Mitsubishi I get really annoyed. They're so terrible to drive imo. We just got a plug in hybrid on the lot so I'm curious curious see if it would change my mind at all.
I am very curious why some people still buy Mitsubishi vehicles. Is it because of good memories from 90s era? or do they see some better elements compared to other brand?. Because I don't see any.
Theres so many cars I want I just don’t know which one to pick I want a BMW X5, charger hellcat, Toyota Camry trd, and Toyota Rav 4 which one is great to start with?
All of these cars have different purposes and have way different price ranges from each other so it don't really make sense to compare them. But if you want quick straight line performance but don't care about build quality then the Hellcat is the one to choose, if you want a boring but reliable car you can keep for literally decades without issue and you have kids get the Rav 4, if you want one of the most luxurious interiors and most up to date tech in a car then get the BMW X5, if you want a reliable car that's quick enough than most cars on the road but not actual sports car quick get the TRD Camry.
If you want to be reliable go with the Toyota Camry TRD. If you’re trying to be luxurious go with the BMW X5. If you’re trying to be sporty of course go with the Charger Hellcat. I’d personally go for the Camry TRD. You get speed and reliability. Worth it.
Mitsubishi seems to get better and also have nice SUVs. But are they reliable? (someone can reply with their experience) :) I currently have a Honda Civic and had a great experience
I have a non-hybrid 2020 SE model. The engine has been around since 2012, chain-driven and naturally aspirated super reliable. Much better than modern direct injected turbos everyone is using. Here is my break in oil change:ua-cam.com/video/cw78lH_1EpQ/v-deo.html
I had a 2000 mitsubishi carisma 1.8 GDI which i bought as my first car in germany. I had it for about 6 years and changed the oil once xD a lot of short drives in the city and in very cold weather that is too. Never did it want any "unwanted" repairs. Only changed brakes once. When I drove it the first day, its average was mpg was 28.5 with 100000miles. Within 20,000miles I got it up to 36mpg with 80-90% city driving. On highway at 62mph its mpg was ALWAYS around 60. Soooooo efficient for a 20 year old car and super reliable.
Alright imma be honest i like the interior it's so simple and bland i really love it but mygod that has got to be the ugliest stick shifter i have ever seen... Would consider covering it with a wrap or leather or something, leaving it like that is an absolute eyesore.

huge column mounted shifters on a hybrid SUV, lol.
ikr, wtf 😂

not shifters, regen paddles
Suv, 40-80mpge, awd lock, ac outlet, in the 30's.. What competition? A $50k Rav4 Prime?
This is an excellent value for local commuters.

Thank you for reviewing this vehicle🙌

Doesn't it qualify for a tax credit and it's still cheaper than a rav 4 prime by alot!
They just updated the Outlander, and it's basically a Rogue, so your complaints have been solved.
You pay for the technology, not for the look. Just like a tesla :)
The 2022 Outlander interior looks far better than this one's, can't wait for the review on that one.

Why do all Mitsubishi models have interiors that look 10 years out of date?
Not anymore look at the new Outlander
Mitsubishi is a traditionalist brand

I like the interior, feels very Saab-like.
I miss my Saab =(
What kind of Saab was it?
Holy cow, that ignition chime when the door is open is the same chime as in my 2003 Evo 8
Well that says something about the date
It sounds like a chime straight from the 90s, literally.

I don't understand how Mitsubishi still exists in the US
Because they make crossovers and Americans buy the hell out of crossovers.
@@RAZGR1Z they must bring back evo series and 3000gt
As a Mitsubishi fan, I feel like the new outlander falls flat design wise compared to the new Nissan Rogue. (Which is more comfortable and sporty)
Mitsubishi Outlander nó ở tầm cao khác. Tiếc là nó không được bán tại Việt Nam.
Nhìn mà rất thích
looks solid
Waiting for your outlander 2022 model review by😁

Thanks for the tour. Do you usually go this hard in your research?
That price is kinda okay, and it is a good hybrid car
“Not as loud and OUTLANDISH as the Hyundai Kona” - TheTopher aka Ted Mullens 😆
Can you please do a review of the 2022 Mistubishi Outlander as it's supposed to be better.
There is a review now. The PHEV isn’t out yet, but it should be coming in the next few months
I'm hopeful for the 2022.
you haven't seen the new refresh, its based on the new outlander. looking mighty fine and hopefully allows mitsu to reclaim their phev crown
The 2022 PHEV is still like this one. The new one is coming for 2023
That shifter looks like it comes from the Eclipse Concept-E…

i have had mitsubishi cars including this outlander and they are really good and reliable, i used one for 10 years believe it or not

The 2018 Outlander GT is where it's at or older V6 models.
We have a 2011 V6 and it’s quite a fun and reliable powertrain. Fuel economy, though, is another story.

The inside looks like it’s from 2010, wish they added a Digital gauge cluster or a bigger screen and some more control!
All that is on the new outlander and will likely be on the new outlander PHEV
