Who cares about privacy, if you have a smart phone you have already given that up.
or if you use Apple products-
It's still not right. Stop getting angry at people who care because you chose to submit.
lets pump those numbers. anyone worried about safety/privacy is delusional
Also the highways
Our phones already track us. 🤷♂️
They don’t track our driving goofy
@@Tony-xu9bf That would be tesla.
@@Tony-xu9bf yeah they do. What do you think Google maps does 😂
@@jeremys6631 I’ve never gotten a ticket after using google maps. You must not know the difference
@@Tony-xu9bf no expectation of privacy in public. let that sink in!
At this point I'd rather live in a "Survailance state" than a unsafe environment. Hopefully these cameras do well in the long run.
Go move to China then
Surveillance is nice if it actually gets results and reduces crime in a meaningful way. Catching a few criminals here and there is good don't get me wrong, but retail theft, car breakins, and other crime still happen at unacceptable numbers.
And that's why they are allowing so much crime, so you are willing to let the state surveil you. Good job playing right into their hands.
@@mrsleep0000absolutely the plan
Helpful Idi-t
The plate readers have been installed for almost 10 years. They were initially installed in limited areas, in particular on 19th. They were catching a lot of stolen cars / car thieves this way as plates got read. So this is not new - they're just expanding the program.
No these are new cameras. 19th didn't have license plate readers 10 years ago, who are you kidding?
This could save San Francisco.
San Francisco will just let them go without bail.
If enough criminals complain about this … city officials will remove the cameras.
Are you a criminal supporter? Because if so that’s fucked up
people expecting privacy in a public street, that's funny
Yes but pretty soon there won't be no such thing as private property. So you will be fucked either way
It’s not “privacy in a public street”… it’s the tracing capability. Seriously.. pretty sure this video was only about 2 min long.
🤣
U want privacy? Stay at home. That's nothing to be afraid of, unless u're up to no good. So stop crying 😢😢😢!!!
Hahaha, sure thing.
Stupid
Cameras catching criminals and the D.A. is releasing them 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I approve of these cameras. I don't expect privacy out on the street.
I guess a camera facing your house is totally fine, if it's on public roads?... I get what you're saying though haha.
@@sdfsdf2205 I actually don’t mind the extra security. The outside of my house is public and I don’t expect to commit any crimes. I would be worried if I were a criminal though.
Your neighbors have a camera pointing at your house rn.
This is a liberal snowflake who wants a big government to protect them. I bet they want higher taxes and an army of social workers to give hugs to criminals.
@@sdfsdf2205 no expectation of privacy in public. let that sink in!
You know what's coming next. $500 ticket in the mail for doing a California stop and a $100 fine for no seat belt.
There's nothing wrong with that. Follow the law and put on your seat belt.
Put on your goddamn seatbelt.
Are you real? You must be a bot.
The government being able to electronically shutdown vehicles will be here within 10 years. The regulations have already been approved and all new Electric vehicles will have a kill switch manufactured into them after 2026.
Would rather live in chaos and crime than a "surveillance state"? 100 cameras is hardly a "surveillance state" . Ridiculous.
You are a fool. This is the beginning.
Just a 100, *5 years*, just 100k, *10 years* 500k.
Fear does this to the public, so they accept it, politicians love this as it saves them money, and a talking point for the next election. When is it too much? that should be your questioning.
Bro without cameras then you would rather let a criminal take your car?
If surveillance = safety then it’s a very good trade
Thats the thing. Surveillance does not equal safety. Surveillance = control.
The problem isn’t catching them it’s holding on to them . How many of these people getting caught on these cameras are repeat offenders 🧐🤦🏼♂️😂
Great work at least it’s proving that it’s working effectively
It didn't help stop a sideshow a few days ago.
😂 are people worried the cameras are gonna see you going to the doctors office ? Do they really think anybody that cares is going to have access to and read where your car went ?
SF is an absolute expert in creating a problem to sell a solution. Nearly half of businesses downtown have left. They've destroyed a city and yet they're busy doing play time testing out tie wrapped cameras to a pole that are probably going to get hit down sooner than later anyway. Absolute waste of tax payer money when they have more than enough to fix right outside their doorstep.
criminals might steel those items on the pole
...and the DA is releasing them as fast as she can!
Why would criminals drive their own registered vehicle or with a real license plate or with a license plate at all?
Did you even pay attention? Vehicles reported stolen usually have tags and they have used the system to find them and arrest criminals.
It's unfortunate, but this is the world we now live in.
CIA and NSA already know all that info if you carry a smartphone
Two wrongs don't make a right. You sound like a simp.
I lived in a surveillance state. In reality, no one cared what I was doing or where I was going and the city was so safe you could even leave a bike unlocked without someone riding off with it, let alone walking the streets at night without putting yourself at risk.
Yea right !!!
in bay area i see so many electronic license plate cover? what you do with that?
San Francisco has turned into in-sane Francisco 😂😂
Theft will keep changing their license plates
The license plate readers are catching criminals and ‘the system’ lets them out the jail doors.
Catch and release 😂
Ok so what happens when someone has a outstanding ticket are they considered criminals
I’m sure there’s PLENTY of cars out there with no license plate😐so good luck with those
Hell yeah! About time.
Mayor Breed, we don’t need pandas, we need enforcement.
When you are in the public, you have no expectation of privacy, so security cameras and licence plate readers are NOT invasions of privacy.
Hope they don't re-release them....
It's a success because its an automated revenue generator. Anyone they catch they'll release the next day if they are broke.
Life sentences for stolen cars would work better to prevent the crime in the first place.
Catch and release. What’s the point
O, I know about no privacy ...24/7 monitoring my brain 🧠 👀👂
But I bet they are still getting bail reform and being released.
Oxymoron, retail theft arrest in SFO .
They have stolen plates and stolen cars
Lovely, but how many are serving time? What a joke.
You mean ticketing tax payers
That's not what these cameras are for. You didn't watch the video.
How about face recognition that can identify criminals and thieves. Cause car plates isn’t working.
lol how many stores have left SF? A lot. There is no law and order when it comes to theft. Keep voting BLUE.
We need to give recognition to Mayor London Breed for action in getting safety a priority in SF.
This is the right direction.
How about moving to China?
Maybe this exists already but how about cameras that can see through facial coverings? If you make a camera that is used in conjunction with lidar, I think it can be done.
@@whiskeykilmer1866I don’t think that’s going to happen because they don’t tell the truth in there media they just delete evidence and find ways to make you pay more many
Seems like Matt Guariglia just doesn't want anyone seeing his nasty browser history. 😂😂 your phone is tracking you boo boo
Yea but are they getting locked up?
Next, the license plate camera would be raycist for tagging majority of black and brown drivers.
Automated Cash Cows
And mayor Sheng Thao of Oakland
And this is how it all begins!
The "privacy advocate" is just afraid his illicit activities will be exposed.
That is why so many criminals are using fake plates now, seen it done all the time or the plate cover that the camera cannot see the plate nor read it.
😂 The plan worked. They first release the inmates and stop prosecuting criminals. When crime skyrocketed, they claim it is “necessary” to track everyone.
Problem, Reaction, solution. Crime goes up, people demand answers, government comes in with their pre-planned solutions which were thought of long before crime ever went up.
Only criminals are complaining, if the camera isn’t pointing inside your home, it’s not invading privacy.
More cameras please! Make our streets safer!
Also why hide the suspects face? Name and shame them.
Wow who would have thought it would have worked….
Oh no a tracking device giving my location 24/7, wait my DoorDash is late let me take an Uber and go get my self 🤡
The privacy issue is simply not as serious as he says it is because most people don't drive in San Francisco they don't want to park in San Francisco they take rideshare you can't really tell who's in the rideshare... This man will basically say anything to get paid by the news station!
I just would ‘t have a car if I lived in SF. Too hard to find parking, break ins, high insurance, and now being tracked everywhere you go. Just use public transit mixed with Uber 👍🏽
Who care as long as the city is a save place to live.
Bad boy, bad boy, watcha gonna do when they come for you...
They’re all over burlingame too. It’s fucken crazy.
WHERE you at
Vegas got this years ago. California so slow with it
Only up to no good people will refuse this cameras
Yah,I spend a lot of my time visiting places I don’t want people knowing about 😂 like what grocery stores I’m going to.only criminals would worry about cameras tracking your movements
License plate readers are a useful tool for law enforcement. The "privacy" nervous nellies have it all wrong. There is no right to privacy for your license plate number when you drive on public streets.
Their installed in all of los angles county. See how that's working out.
How long until this tech is used to surveil law abiding citizens or protesters engaged in 1A-protected activity?
The senate better vote for the draft. Just send them to North Korea...
If you’re not doing anything wrong, then you have nothing to worry about maybe
If im not doing anything wrong then why are they worried about my whereabouts????
@@FreeBayArea- They’re not worried about YOUR whereabouts.. right now, it has nothing to do about you.
Once this becomes normal though, and we’re desensitized to always being tracked everywhere… then yea, they’ll use it for nefarious purposes including selling that information to data brokers
@@FreeBayAreaagain… if you’re not doing anything wrong… why would they care about you or your whereabouts😐cmon man, think a little harder
@HiThisIsMine that's my point. It's not about people who actually do wrong.
@@HiThisIsMineI don’t they the police would sell data to data brokers that’s not justice?
ARMY YOU'RE UP ARMY YOU'RE UP
Everything starts In SF when trying new technology.. if it works.... They spread out across the Bay, California and to other states.
Look at London, France Spain ,some of the big European cities always have big brother looking over and we’re complaining about license readers
that's how it starts
NOT if they remove the plates..which Many Are doing
It is all about the American Freedom.
It’s all good and well until 20 years from now where we’re so used to these things and they are on every corner.. once we’re desensitized, that’s when these cameras will be used for more than tracking crime.
“If you didn’t do anything wrong then..”
There’s plenty of abuse already by officials for personal agendas. Innocent people who are targeted for simple association of others. Data is often sold to data brokers in order to “fund operational costs”.
It will be abused in the future, no doubt. But for now, we need more of these things.
Lucky San Francisco not San Jose
Bass fishing, catch and release....
Arrest them but the prosecutors will let them go
Speed cameras are crossing the line. Remember the red light camera problems? How many people’s life’s and wallets people have been unjustifiably affected before those cameras were discovered to be faulty often mis calibrated in a manor that would increase revenue for the city and the third party companies who monitored them.owned those cameras. Speed cameras will even be worse. The problem with the license plate readers are once we allowed them to install one, it now paves the way for city state even federal agencies to install run programs and devices to spy or earn profits at its citizens expense. We are allowing the city, state and govt agencies usher us into a police state.
If u not doing non bad u shouldn't have none to worry about I remember in OAKLAND they tried this n ppl just tore the cameras down some got shot at. Smh
... and then releasing them.😂
Lordt, these nut jobs.
Democrats will use it to track political enemies ❤
Catch and release
Catch and release
If you think this will help your turd of a city you're in for a surprise!
This advocates are way too much. They don’t even know what the people want. They just need income for themselves.
“The city can now track anyone, anywhere, 24 hrs. a day”….I used to work in SF, but haven’t been there since 2020, and as long as I don’t go back, I have nothing to worry about.
It starts with license reader but once we allowed them to, then it becomes another and another
It? What is "it" exactly?
If it's catch and release then what's the point? Election year propaganda?
Creepy cameras but won't prosecute criminals.
People are calling this a surveillance state. That is so stupid. If people are aware how much information they’re giving away by not reading terms and services from tech companies, license plate readers are not bad. Crime is rampant this helps.
you must be a bot
How? Check your terms and services they say they may share your data with 3rd parties. They’re called data brokers. They will sell your information
True but you do not need to participate. At least you have that option. Your data is being collected without your consent with these plate readers. Do you seriously believe they only collected data of people breaking the law?
@@jjtru21 you’re misunderstood, you already did consent for you data to be collected and sold by agreeing the terms of service the minimum you make your account. Such as UA-cam and they make it annoying to opt out. It’s not opinion it’s right there in the writing. In terms of plate readers your information is already collected with the DMV, many cars such as Kia are being stolen and used for crimes. They collecting data on every one of course it’s not just criminals.
@@jjtru21 if you can answer this question about the bay bridge toll has a license plate reader. Does that violate the law?
❤
If you aren't committing crimes these cameras will not be tracking your license plate. Anyone scared of a "surveillance state" should move to Idaho.
Anyone not scared of a surveillance state should move to China
You fool
@@4damulawhy so affected 😂
@@4damulalook in the mirror.
oh because it can never be abused right? Stupid
THAT IS SO WOKE
What's the point if they're just going to let them go quickly.
If im not doing anything wrong then why do they need to know about my whereabouts? Answer that question for me.
Bologna
Thanks for letting the criminals know. So now they won't run a plate.
