    Beautiful job on the engine , exhaust & shifter. The radiator is an excellent upgrade . You definitely know what you’re doing. I wish I could visit with you. I’ve been an engine machinist all my life thanks to my older brother who owed many Shelbys including a 66 ac / sc cobra with a 427 side oiler . It was amazing. Thank you for sharing . 😎🙂

I built this car just for me as a nostalgia cruiser, and I honestly didn't expect many other people to really understand the car or appreciate it, so I have been pleasantly surprised at the reception that it gets. You have to build them to suit yourself, but it is great when they resonate with others. As for building one for you, I do take on custom projects for customers so it is something we could discuss. The first thing that is important to understand is that my shop and I are physically located in Calgary, Alberta, which is in Western Canada. I was thinking I might do a video on the pluses and minues of buying one of these cars. I certainly enjoy mine, and it gets a little attention that a Fox Mustang doesn't. • @tecmotiondyno

      I called the car “Project Neighbor Problem” while I was building it, and it is loud outside, but on our first highway trip with the car my wife turned to me and said “I don’t know what’s wrong with this car, you can just sit back and listen to the radio!”. Most of the time when these Flowmasters drone it is in the 1500-1800 rpm range, but with 4.10’s it never cruises there. The Lincoln is longer and has more sound deadener than a Mustang, and consequently transmits less noise into the cabin.

    Good morning. Liked the Video !! if you don't mind me asking, did you do all the modifications yourself, how long did it take you to complete your project and what's ball park on the cost?? Also, are you by chance a member of the Lincoln Mark VII Club??

    • @tecmotiondyno
      @tecmotiondyno  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching. Yes, I did all the modifications myself. This project was done over one winter for the most part with some follow up work in a subsequent year such as the gear swap. I don't know what I have in it in terms of hours but let's say in the 200-400 hour range in a professional shop. The parts price for many of the parts that I used has gone up dramatically since the project was done - The intake manifold for instance is about twice the cost if you can even lay your hands on one. At the time I probably spent around $14000 Canadian including the car but excluding the labor which would be a substantial cost if you hired it out. And yes, I am a lifetime member of the Lincoln Mark VII Club and authorized vendor for that club. John Dancy bestowed that status on me because I was one of the only guys who was actually making parts for these cars and I was even on his Christmas list until his untimely death. I rarely use the forum but I am regularly on the club Facebook page though I don't speak up there every day. Geographically I live a LONG way away from most of the guys but there are a few of these cars kicking around in Alberta, including at least one that is more heavily modified than mine. I built the car as a nostalgia cruiser, and that is how I use it. It turned out just how I hoped it would, and if anything I have been a little surprised at the attention such an off-beat project does receive when I take it out to events.

Little bit of my background,,,,I too am a member of Linc Mark VII Club and i own a 1990 Mark VII LSC "SE" Dark Titanium in color. Current miles 77K, and all still stock. Okay, noticed you said you were in Alberta, so that takes the option of trying to see if you'd do modifications to mine.... 🙂 Wish you were closer Sir. 🙂 On that one, i want more out of the engine as you could imagine and i have even been tinkering around with the idea of doing a LS swap into it...( i have a LS motor out of a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT sitting in a garage and trying to find someone to trust to do the job ). AS you may have noticed i said " on that one "....thats the one i want to modify, my other Linc is a 1991 Mark VII LSC " SE " Triple Blk in color (and as a matter of fact you can see both of us in the video that was posted on Your Tube by Chazz from last years Carlisle All Fords National ). Don't wanna make this to long, cause i can go on and on....so lastly, can mention the Club without speaking of the MAN that do sooooo much and was an inspiration to me and countless other.... John Dancy. i am still very effected by his passing (even as i type now; excuse me..) and things just have not been the same!! I;m not on any social media, so i dont see whats going on the Facebook page. I have a published phone number for the shop if you want to chat. It is easier for me to take time for casual chats off-hours than during the weekday because I am usually on the dyno or inside a customer car on the weekdays. I keep the shop phone forwarded if I am not there. Keep in mind that I am in the Mountain time zone. I'm assuming you are out on the east coast of the US. I know a couple guys out there who MIGHT help you out, but as soon as you say "LS Swap" I am guessing the guys I know won't be interested. Not that it wouldn't liven up the Mark, but there are lots of guys who chafe at the idea of using NGK spark plugs in their Mark, never mind putting the General's power plant in one!

    Where can I get that adapter plate??

    • @tecmotiondyno
      @tecmotiondyno  Рік тому

      The B&M Hammer shifter adapter plate for the Mark VII console is available at tecmotion.etsy.com . There are two versions - one has provision for an overdrive lockout switch for a Lentech valve body and the other doesn’t. If the one you want us out of stock, message me on Etsy and I can produce one, usually in a day or two depending on scheduling. This part was tested with the 90-92 style console and there are slight differences between them and the earlier console. A full B&M shifter installation guide using this plate is available at tecmotion.ca/store/

      I had it on the Dyno at every stage of the build. It gained about 63% from stock to its present form and is about 375 flywheel. That’s a really typical result for a build like this.

    Was the mega-squirt needed because all the internal upgrades?

    • @tecmotiondyno
      @tecmotiondyno  2 роки тому +4

      The Lincoln computer is essentially non programmable, and all these upgrades most definitely require a custom calibration. Your main choices are Megasquirt, Holley Terminator X, or a Mustang A9L MAF swap. These days, the megasquirt is the most cost effective and easiest, requiring one ground wire and a vacuum line for the whole installation.

    That car screams for the new 7.3 L Godzilla engine
    That 5.0 L is NOT out of the Mustang program, that engine was in the MK VII before it ever went into a Mustang. The 5.0L is straight out of the Mk VII program

    • @tecmotiondyno
      @tecmotiondyno  2 роки тому

      I have been considering various projects for a Godzilla, and while it might be cool in a Mark VII, I built this car as a nostalgia cruiser and it isn't likely to get a modern powerplant.
      As for the 5.0 HO in the Mark VII, this engine has it's origins in 1962 and was in Mustangs virtually all along. The 1982 Mustang used a 5.0 HO, two years before the Mark VII was introduced and continued to use HO versions of the engine until 1995. The Mark VII used the base (non HO) version of the 5.0 through 1987 except for a very small number of late production 1987 LSC's, then in 1988 switched to the Mustang 5.0 HO. The Mark VII was never upgraded to a mass air version of the engine. Any way you look at it, the Mark VII followed the Mustang in the V8 engine department, but from 1988 until the end of production they used identical engines except the the Lincoln stayed speed density.

      @@tecmotiondyno yeah I apologize asn I was mistaken. It was the Mark Viii I was thinking of with the 'Cobra' engine. Even before the sn95 SVT cobra and Terminator Cobra. The Mk VIII was the first car to carry that legendary engine. Some days I post when I'm way to tired, 3 weeks straight of over nights without a day off are a killer. :)

      @@brinkee7674 no problem man, we all make mistakes, and sometimes I’m wrong too. You are absolutely correct about the 93 Mark VIII being the first with the 4 valve modular, three years ahead of the svt cobra. I have seen a few of them transplanted into old Ford truck projects from donor Mark VIII’s too.
