In this music production short tutorial I will show you how & why you should use slide notes in FL Studio to make your bass and chords more interesting.
Interesting alternative for side chaining! I'd add that the patcher plugin would probably have a preset that allows you to quite the sounds at an interval you'd like with even more options to tinker with
This is (basically) how i make reversed 808s. Normal note an octave down with 0 velocity, slide note at bass octave with normal velocity. works great if you wanna design some risers too
Bonus Tip: If you build your chords in 3 colours in the same piano roll, (ie. red root, blue third, green seventh) you can control the slide of each note individually without affecting the others, so you can have them slide at different lengths as well. monumentally helpful when writing guitar melodies with a vst like AG TC
I've learned that little trick a long time ago on my own. I've been using it ever since, especially in Pads or Lead sounds. My favorite is to make the slide very very short and make it into a pluck with a sustained root note for the entire pattern. Makes that weird funky sliding between each note while keeping your root note bright and dominating.
@@roilo8560 you have more controle on the curve with an automation , the slide note in fl itself just control the speed, but the curve is always the same. + The sound of the slide hit different even with the same curve I think?
Sometimes there is some workaround. Automation wasn't working for external synths but after pressing record and playing the section automation worked. Totally accidental discovery. Maybe there will be someone who discovered something that works in your case. But try pressing record and play the selected section and maybe it's going to work.
U just showed me something I shuda e figured out ages ago.. I’d automate with the pitch bend wheel.. I mean.. it’s another option 🤷🏾♂️ shrugging shoulders 😂
omg guys you can do everything in this fucking program while I can't add any sound to piano roll i have only stupid 808 snare, kick, clap and hihat No joke guys I'm crying help me 😭😭😭🙏🏻❤️
it isnt need to slide all 3 in a chord, a slide note automatically targets the highest note but slides all notes collectively, so the highest slide note is the only one actually doing something, good tutorial nonetheless
Can anyone please tell me if this is a possible effect within Logic Pro? I’ve been trying to figure this out for houuuuurs and can’t get it. I know how to do glide 808s, but to figure out how to slide a note exactly like this within Logic Pro and getting absolutely no where is doing my head in 🙈 I can’t even find a tutorial on UA-cam anywhere
mmm ... u sure about the chords? I remember the entire chord going up or down just by adding one slider 🤔 Maybe with more FL spides each closest note individually
@@4ra4ra4ra Did you tried to turn on or turn off the computer? But seriously though, did you tried to update your FL Studio? Usually with software is that some things stop working after certain amount of time without updating it occurs randomly for some reason had few cases like this with games and few softwares.
i didn’t even think about using slides for chords i’m dumb thanks for the idea
same!! sliding chords never came up in my mind...
Same I always wanted to slide chords dammit
Sliding of chords is impressive!
nawww issss immpweeesssivvveee
I really wish more external plugins had FL slide compatability, it would be so useful
Komplete Kontrol users are cursed with partial compatibility
this just gave me an idea on how to get this to work. I’ll try testing it and if it works i’ll find a way/write a script to do it automatically
And to add a quieting effect make a slide note on the note of choice, reduce its velocity to 0 Really useful and time saving

My man, i fucking love you, thanks!!
Dope, I've always done slides for single notes but never chords. Thank you sir!!
Yooooo this is sooo coool. I never thought of sliding chords like that
Thank you so much for this
problem is in a lot of plugins slide notes dont work
Have to use automation pitch for it, a little bit longer to do but can be better 👌
All inbuit plugins work
@@Thibault.ngplushow can it be better?

Have you ever heard about our lord Glide and senior Portamento?
@@spkn9586just use pitch bend. You can draw it in the piano roll.

Thank youu!!!

U A AWSM! 😮🎉🎉
thanks a lot❤
Just click S and O if you need to switch to slide or legato note, piano roll needs to be open though, it can reduce your time
U just showed me something I shuda e figured out ages ago.. I’d automate with the pitch bend wheel.. I mean.. it’s another option 🤷🏾♂️ shrugging shoulders 😂

Wooo eoooo lolzz.. Wahh uhh

The first 4 note make me think about the opening of hokuto no ken
waaao
thanks bro, sucks that my free plugin suck ass and cant do slide notes lol
Most expensive ones don’t either, it’s an FL studio and its plugins kinda thing.
Didn't know those existed
MaxTheMeatGuy as a producer
can you do this in sampling??
Bro how to see the notes on piano roll ?? ( g, f ,g#,etc)
How is this any different that pitch bend that has been part of the Midi protocol since the beginning?
what is the plugin you used for that synth at the end?
omg guys you can do everything in this fucking program while I can't add any sound to piano roll i have only stupid 808 snare, kick, clap and hihat

Oh interesting I used different colour notes to make chords when sliding so the slide notes would follow the same colour.
btw slides dont work for third party plugins (like if u made an 808 using serum n wonder why the slide notes dnt work)
some of them that is
How do I do this with purity?

how do you make the piano on the left say the note?
how to slide notes of plugins like nexus and serum?
use built in portamento/legato in those plugins
Why my b2 note and under is note working can someone tell me how to I can fix this?
Before I could do the slice but suddenly that function no longer worked.
Why doesn't it work when using VITAL?
It doesn’t work on 3rd party plugins it only works on stock plugins
Nb: this tricks works only for stock plugins
not really
it doesn't work on my fl for some reason...
Mine is not sliding :(
mmm ... u sure about the chords?

can you explain grace notes better
i have lmms
Chechenecha😂😂
Why does it not work on sylenth?
Its not FL stock plugin you need to use the portamento settings in sylenth1
dont work on nexus 4
Yea but that's not the way for 3rd party vst.
No slides on external best makes me miserable
I use so much instruments, I forget that I can add slides on MIDI 🤦🏽♂️
Doesnt work for massive
Maybe it was a good choice to pirate fl studio after all 🤔
Content: 👍 | Format: 👎
doesnt work. I tried a million times. Its a pian in the arse now lol
It doesn't work with outside plugins that are not partnered with FL.
ok my slide notes just quit working how do I fix that ?
Depends on how long your slide note and normal notes are it's also needs normal note to function.
@@rafsandomierz5313 I know bro, I'm saying it completely just quit working
