Excellent, you must have studied WW2. America provides protection for the world so we can have fair trade internationally. The problem is the countries we provide protection for do not pay us. There's also a trade imbalance, so American citizens pay for the difference when other countries do not meet their dues.
Young Americans realize they'd be risking their lives for business profits and people an ocean away who ultimately don't give a damn about them.

Here's a tip, maybe shrink the millitary and divert the rest of the funding to stuff americans care about instead of sending it to countries nobody cares about. Our inferstructure is crap. We got homeless everywhere and people are living paycheck to paycheck. To hell with the draft, no one wants to die for corporations.

Im getting out soon. Being stationed in south California(San Diego). High cost of living, shit pay, overwork, low opportunities for my wife, lack of day care support, garbage leadership, shitty promotion opportunities (promote people that run faster but not the ones that are ACTUALLY qualified at their FUCKING JOB).I did 9 years, wanted to stay in, now I’m getting out, and can’t be more excited.
Same I got 4 years left on my first term for I’m definitely not planning to make a retirement out of this

Make sure you apply for va benefits if you were injured in service before you get out!
Get your medical in line while in and proof. It won't be easy if you do it in the civilian world.
Get your medical paper work in order ready for the VA. Biggest advise. And don’t give up the fight on VA.

As someone who is getting out after almost 7 years, there’s a million reasons why there’s a recruitment shortage
After 8 years I did the same. Get your medical paperwork in order for the VA. If you need help medically don’t give up the fight on it.

The draft would be a disaster. A substantial number of modern youth are completely unfit for military service, no sense of service, or work ethic. It would destroy the military. Do more to attract and RETAIN members...but that is another topic.
I'm of the opinion that entering military service is exactly what modern youth need...
If a person is unfit for the military, they are simply not sent to basic training or our chaptered out, they don’t need to be retained in any way.

As a USMC Infantry combat vet I would be against bringing back the draft in any way, shape or form.

Yeah until the US military has to fight a fight with a peer opponent sooner rather than later. As we see in Ukraine. Platoons and brigades being erased. Their most well trained and veteran soldiers are gone. So how will you addressed the issue manpower shortage later on? Artillery, drones, and cluster munition don't care.

They wonder why people don't want to join the military when politicians and military leadership have started cutting military retirement benefits and pushing "blended retirement" which means less pension upon leaving the military. They have also begun to require retirees to pay larger premiums and co-pays for what used to be free medical for life. If they want more people to join, the politicians and leadership can start by restoring the benefits they began taking away over the years.
Sending drafts means the young men will die the moment they enter the battlefield.
Selective Service needs to be extended to females b/c its an equal opportunity social climate we're living in...

I am former military, MOS 11B, 2/28 Black Lions, deployed with them to Pakita Afghanistan from 2011-2012, to anyone reading this, DO NOT enlist in the military, you are not defending "freeDUMB" or any ridiculous nebulous vague concept like that, you are a tool for politicians, elites and corporations that hate you, If the draft happens, frag your officers. This is a big concern that we are at the point that we are even talking about a draft!!!! Im a veteran and I say NO!! NO!!! NO!!! What do the congress critters know that we don’t???
They had their chance to take me and didn't, all because I suck at test taking and didn't meet the ASVAB requirements .
I think personally they need to get rid of that test I think that’s one reason recruitment not working and plus why take a test just to serve your country I think the requirements should of been high school diploma or ged with no felonies on your record I think recruitment will go up

I'd say as someone who served 4 years in the Army, before trying to make military service mandatory fix the issues with sexual assault, sexual harassment, racism, discrimination based on sexual orientation, toxic leadership and low morale. All things I either experienced or saw at my very FIRST duty station Fort Hood now called Fort Cavazos.

Due to DEI the military has been purged of the leaders we needed in there. Who would want to serve under the present structure? They kicked thousands out for not taking the jab.

They even removed the jab requirement to try to curb recruitment issues. It didn't work.

With MHS Genesis that has been around for a couple years now, tons of people are getting denied, some without the possibility of a waiver. I don’t ever hear this being talked about on the media but when I went to MEPS, my group of 11 people all got disqualified for silly shit that has happened years ago. I was denied both from the Marines and Navy for mental illness that happened back in 2013. Although my case was more serious, this was something that happened over 10 years ago and I had proof of no issues since AND 2 years of physically changing myself. I ended up joining the fire service and not even bothering with any other branch. I wouldn’t even want to join now with how the government treats the military; also wouldn’t recommend anyone wasting your time with the process unless you are a perfect person. I would like to add that to be a firefighter, the process is very similar. Aptitude test, physical, psych evaluation… in conclusion I believe this is another issue on why recruitment goals are low.

How about give the military counseling? Allow people speak on there trauma , a lot of the military people have a drinking problem. To deal with whatever issues they been through. Not just that government needs to stop giving meds to people to deal with there environment. Or handle there stress levels. Knowing medication effects with your brain, where it depends on it. If you ever been in mental hospital, you will see people that became addictive to theses pills. I never once seen a successful person who’s been be diagnosed. If you tell me a celebrity, it’s because they can’t deal with the hate or rumors, the paparazzi harassing them. The gossiping alone can affect people mental health. Top of that celebrities are being run through managements. There’s people that depend on theses celebrities for their income.
Such a loaded topic, Do the citizens of our country appreciate the good aspects of what we have? Why are teachers & professors negatively comment on the Armed Services to our children? Long story short....If we don't have enough to protect this country.......we will LOSE.

There's plenty that can be done well short of conscription. Having served in the all volunteer military, I prefer to serve with those who chose it.

Initiating a military draft would be the dust bowl equivalent of a massive brain drought. Most folks do not have the cognitive abilities nor the physical aptitude for military service it would end up depleting the military of people who want to be there and people who deserve to be there and wasting the time who can do other things
As as somebody stated previously a lot of folks neither possess the work ethic nor the intellectual and academic ability to function properly in the military our schools are have become idiot factories in which social promotion and participation trophies are the norm ! I "volunteered" for military service when I enrolled in NRTOC.
We have an army for defense and it’s the citizen population, like the founding fathers wanted. Nobody wants to be lap dogs for the federal government. A draft wouldn’t work either.

The army don’t even offer bonuses and benefits for people who decide to STAY in the army, literally. It all go for these new recruits (20,000 bonuses etc) while active duty, we get like 3,000 or nothing

I bet if they offered $100k-$150k salaries they would fill those positions really quick. Currently enlisted entry pay at E-1 22k a year you know a McDonald's employee, or any fast food worker makes way more than that and gets paid overtime.
