Quite possibly the worst managed mayday I’ve ever heard. He called for emergency traffic, command ignored him, later screamed for Mayday then was ignored again before dispatch had to intervene.
This made me nauseated. I hope the recording was heavily edited. If not... My department has recently promoted a lot of new officers and BCs, I pray they will be able to stay focused and provide solid command when the shit hits the fan. This was crazy.
In Austin, every BOX alarm has 3 FTAC channels assigned to the incident. But dispatch closely monitors the FTAC channels from beginning until the on-scene command tell dispatch they can stop monitoring. But when on scene (especially this incident), some transmissions can be lost.
As a retired Batt Chief I would never second guess Command on youtube and nore should anyone else you were not there and you don't know.
Stfu
Agree chief..they can do a full after action review.
Just wow. Man calls for emergency traffic and people still talking over him and no one asking what's going on. I've never heard anything like it.
Comms on scene are hectic.
It’s more common than you think
I pray for all who serve
Thanks for sharing!
According to the news story they were checking the apartment and the floor gave way. And in a situation like that there is chaos
Mayday around 11min mark...

It's completely edited. Was a 6 hr fire condensed to about 12 min
This is Austin TX as in the city of Austin? AFD +86K calls a year?
this job sounded like it was commands 1st time on the job.
is this multiple channels, considering command had to be told by dispatch of the emergency and mayday

For the folks talking about the command and other factors. Again this is EDITED, OK.
I pray he is okay
That was Wille Cook. He's okay.
Is the firefighter ok
Too heavily edited. can't make heads or tails out of the call you could have broken it up in to diffrent parts (Part 1,2 & so on.)
