@@aleksanderorg9405 They changed the design again, so no-one should be getting close, if anyone does they'll change it yet again as 100m throws are landing among the trackside officials in some stadiums, which obviously isn't ideal :)
@@mattc3581 No they haven't. The last "safety" redesign was in the early 90s, before Zelezny's WR. Every major javelin redesign outcomes in WR annulation. The reason why they didn't redesign the javelin is that Zelezny a) was the only guy who was consistently throwing over 90 in all of his competition (and much closer to 90m than to magical 100m safety threshold.) b) His WR throw was in Jena which is famous for its "wind support" because of local geography. If he would be able to replicate this kind of throw on regular basis on various stadiums, they would probably redesign it. But in Zelezny's case, it was the combination of one of the top track and field athletes in his prime and ideal throwing conditions.
@@wellbi Yes apologies, I misremember the change point, it was when Hohn was throwing around 100m in the mid 80's they changed the design, as you say they didn't actually change it again when Zelezny had that near 100m throw. I note that the poster I responded to is wrong though as Vetter has been getting pretty close to the record in recent years so maybe another change might not be too far off.
Honestly dipping at that speed probably would have slowed him down to the point where his lean would get him the same time as if he didn’t lean in the first place.
You can't have a title of greatest world records when you have soccer kicks that are faster than the prior ones...clearly the first one wasn't a world record then.
yeah and, not actually include the actual record (according to Guinness) which was from 2006. before some on this video. the 266 km/h was only 131. they revised it later
He could probably jump 6.40 even, but that will most likely never happen bc of the simpel reason he will only increass the bar by 1cm each time he try for a new WR. So 6.30 m will probably happen, but it will take maybe 10 years to reach and that is if he can stay injury free.

Three decades Stefka Kostadinova stands unshakable on the world peak in the high jump. On 30 August, just 30 years ago, the Bulgarian woman puts the still unspoilt world record of 209 cm high jump.
Sadly women's records from the 80's and 90's are forever overshadowed by the massive institutional doping that was going on. Even those who may have been completely clean end up being not talked about as the entire era is brushed under the carpet as if to pretend it didn't happen.
Lots of good stuff here, including one of my all time favourites, Jonathan Edwards in the triple jump. Such perfect balance throughout as shown by his almost casual landing. But what a shame that his incredible 18.43 (I think) that year was only slightly windy. A wonderful comment I read under an excellent video about him called "The Flying Man" was along the lines of "it's ironic that every time I see a video of this man's incredible jumping, but whose religious beliefs initially prevented him from competing on Sundays until he lost his faith, I find myself saying "Jesus Christ"!"........Brilliant! If the person who wrote that is reading this, I've repeated that line in conversation about sport many times and always ensure that people know if was not my line, but yours, whoever you are.
What Edwards did, simply defies all logic. Looked like he was floating. I was really young when he had his best jumps, but I still remember them clearly.
Naim is, and will always be, the powerlifter of all time. Any other man who cleans and presses 3X his weight, has my respect, but he still is far behind.
Very interesting list; many records I didn't know. Even though Mike Powell's long jump record is deservingly in the list (it's been standing for over 32 years), I wish that you would have mentionned the previous record by Bob Beamon in there too. In a sport where records are broken by inches, Beamon beat the previous mark by almost 2 FEET during the Mexico City's Olympic games. The jump that won the silver medal was 27,9 inches shorter.
2:09 she looks a lot like my PE teacher from my old school. Also she is polish so from my country and I think she mentioned about being a sportswoman before being a teacher. And it was about this throwing thing.
Edwards jump is an insane record. The 4x400M Men's record is also unbelievable and IMO unreachable. Had 3 of the best 400M runners of all time in it. Of course, Sotomayor's record just looks ridiculous.
I was at the game stood right behind the goal he scored in, what a hit. If you watch in slow motion, it's funny to see the keepers reaction. He barely starts moving before it's past him.
