Brief information about #Azerbaijan :) 1. The world's first oil refinery was built in Baku. As the first country to export Caspian oil to the West, Azerbaijan is also the world's oldest oil exporter. In addition, in 1848, for the first time in the world, industrial refining of oil began in Baku. 2. The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which declared its independence in 1918, became the first Democratic Republic in the east. Although the republic lasted only 23 months, it regained its independence in 1991 with the collapse of the USSR. 3. Azerbaijan is the first Muslim country in the world to give women the right to vote and stand for election, before the United States and Switzerland. It should be noted that women were given this right in Azerbaijan in 1918. 4. The first musical opera in the East was staged in Baku. This opera was "Leyli and Majnun" by #UzeyirHajibeyov. 5. The largest number of IDPs forcibly expelled from their country in the world as a result of #Armenia's aggressive policy is in Azerbaijan. 6. Azerbaijan was the fastest growing country in the world in 2006, and according to World Bank statistics, the country with the most reforms in 2009.
They remove the cobblestone road and lay the asphalt, after the race they'd profile the asphalt out and relay the cobblestones. Lot of effort and money to keep relaying asphalt every year but i presume the castle section is heritage listed so they have to keep it original
they say they put down "temporary" asphalt over the cobblestones. Does that mean, they remove the asphalt after the race, every year, and put it down again, the following year? It seems like the cobblestone streets would be more beautiful for regular people. I wonder if they are gone forever in these parts of Baku.
Imagine covering the original cobblestone for three days of racing a year .. glad they didn't allow this craziness in Copenhagen - 9 weeks of road construction and closure EACH YEAR
It's funny the way F1 has random coincidences, between today and the 2016 podium, a Mercedes win followed by a Ferrari and Racing point happened once again in Turkey last year with the same drivers and teams.
Dont think he meant it like the shortest lap time, I think he meant it in like a fastest average lap speed, in which case is true. One of the few tracks an F1 can reach 350kph on. Only other ones I can think of are, Australia, China, Hanoi, Singapore, Bahrain and Catalunya. Maybe Sochi and Singapore too. Not sure.
The UA-cam algorithm means we meet here 3 years later, gotta love it!

Just amazing to know the Baku track history ❤️🏁
This country and the circuit fascinates me.

Well done Baku!
Him: Possibly it will be the fastest track ever.
Spa & Monza: are we joke to you?
I love how the cars completely cover him
POV: you wrote your speech 5 minutes before presenting it
And your trying to add more time to make it longer 😂
2:55 Doesn't Monza in the 10km layout have had a divided Start-Finish strait?
yes but it didn't have wall and the car didn't go in opposite directions
@@akkesm they went in opposite directions only in the 30s when F1 didn’t exist
I believe there was once a german gp who did

Charlie and his Pre-race meetings were the best things F1 ever published. What a Legend! We miss you Charlie😔
One of my favorite tracks to drive in F1 2019. Not much room for error, but still has good overtaking opportunities.

Bro, this track is actually pretty good and it produces some of the most dramatic F1 races.
Hell even 2019 was incredible too. I really really enjoy this circuit.
I'd say it was far from boring as the circuit is better than Mocaco or even Singspore. Australia is the only other good street circuit.
Brazil, China and Belgium were so much better than Baku as well as pretty much every gp
Thank You algorithm, lol
😜
Nice recommend to me 3 years later

Thankful to charlie whiting for life of Charles and rogro

How does the temporary asphalt work?
They remove the cobblestone road and lay the asphalt, after the race they'd profile the asphalt out and relay the cobblestones. Lot of effort and money to keep relaying asphalt every year but i presume the castle section is heritage listed so they have to keep it original
@@matthewmattmatthew8335 I thought they put the asphalt on top of the cobble.
Not sure, must be a video on it somewhere. Its interesting.
@@matthewmattmatthew8335 i doubt they remove the cobble, they probably just put gravel or something as a layer between the asphalt and the actual road
Fun Fact:
Indianapolis was the first F1 track with SAFER barriers not Baku.
Interlagos even has a SAFER barrier so Baku is actually the third F1 track to have one
Thanks to UA-cam for showing me this 3 years later, see yall in 2024 I guess
