While I don't believe it is wise to "eat down" your pantry, I do think it is a good idea to take stock and use some of your older stock and replace it at that time. With prices (and "shortages") these days, it makes no sense to me to have to buy a month or more groceries at one time. Buying a few things, especially if on sale, seems more doable. The other day, I went to Walmart to get some things for my pantry. Other than fresh produce, I needed 2 cans of chili, some Italian seasoning, Red Beans seasoning, bread, and a couple of cases of sparkling water. Those were to replace what I used last week. I plan on canning some of the fruit that I got. I do plan on doing an inventory and see where I need to fill in, especially toiletries/hygiene products.
Thanks, Kimmy, for sharing your faith and words of encouragement, especially from our beloved President Nelson❤❤ Goals? You bet: deeper and more consistent scripture study with more time to ponder and pray😇 Also, use up my pantry/food storage items that are expiring this year (shop my shelves, save money). As for planners/planning: dates on a paper calendar as well as lists on my phone; have to keep it simple🙀
My husband is a volunteer firefighter. He told me a story of a gentleman who had multiple items on his back window of his car. He got in an accident & the tissue box flew from the back of the car & injured (yes injured) the back of his head.
This type of video is exactly the reason I started following you as a young Mom nine years ago. This video is inspiring and refreshing. Thank you for the beautiful quotes, motivation, and content. Happy New Year!
Love the snow. Love the Christmas wrapping paper hints. Love the freezer taco meal. Most of all, I love the chats. Looking forward to the routines video. This was so nice, not all polished and perfect and the same topic. I feel like you're back to the Kimmy visits I have always looked forward to.😍
Really loving your videos lately! I’m doing a pantry challenge BUT if I come across an extra good sale on anything we use I will stock up. Depleting my pantry sort of defeats the purpose to me, however, it’s a good time of year to just use up odds and ends and some of the items we don’t love and probably won’t buy again! It’s also a good way to take note of any weaknesses in my storage!
I use the Frixtion pens to trace embroidery patterns. When I'm through working on it, I can go over it with an iron and the Frixtion ink will disappear. Works so well!!
I love the quotes in the beginning. I don’t do a pantry or no spend challenge; I just stay the course. I’ll be canning meats, stews and beans for my shelves. Also focusing on stocking up on freezer meals. We were locked down from week before Christmas until New Years with illness. Food didn’t matter at first, but once we started getting better, it did. I love having something to pull out and heat up. Thanks for all the inspiration. ❣️
Oh I love all of the wisdom nuggets at the beginning of this video! When you said that you’ve been on UA-cam for 12 years I started thinking back to when I started watching your channel and Shaylee was maybe 2 or 3! Time sure has flown by and I still look forward to every video. Happy New Year to you and your family Kimmy. 🥳
I had to smile when I saw your cute doggo watching the snow fall! 😄 Loved the 'car pause' moment - so true!! When my kids were little, and I worked 40+ hours/wk at a stressful high-impact job, the 30 min commute was actually a good thing - It allowed me to unwind and walk in the door more calm, ready to do family time.
I get from Dollar Tree: scissors, scotch tape, all the wrapping paper and tissue paper. I didn't find ribbon &bows I liked very much though, so that's what I splurge on at Hobby Lobby.
I really enjoyed this video! Very inspirational and helpful too. One of my goals this year is to get organized, especially with meal planning so that way I can have something in the crockpot when I get home from work or at least know what I'm going to fix for supper. This has been a struggle for me and I'm not sure why as I used to do it. Have a great week! God bless you!
I would call time in the car transition time. We all need it. I actually don't drive. It's a choice. I've never had a driver's license. Ever. Weird I know. But, in retrospect I don't think my personality can handle it. Anyway, I've walked, or taken the bus to and from work most of my life. This time helps me so much to basically wash the day away. Then, I can walk into my house free of work and be ready for home in a better mood and mindset.
My goal for January is low spend, use what we have and no out to eat. We did pretty good but could be better. Sometimes I can't even think of anything to fix, I think that is when I should have a go to or freezer meal ready
I've watched your channel for years and years now, but since you move to this current home and started homeschooling I've noticed a good change in you, a calmness or contentment and drive all at the same time. It's such. A good thing to see and I can't help thinking what a great example you are for the young ladies who may watch your channel. Happy New Year Kimmy! Oh, and I've been using up all the meat and food in my three small freezers. It feels good to use it and at the same time find good deals to refill them with fresh product.
As a fellow add person a trick I’ve found to help me get to bed earlier is to put my phone/ipad down at 8-8:30 and it gives my brain time to tour off and I’m usually asleep by 11ish
I'm not doing a challenge of sorts but I am NOT going to the grocery store. We have so much now and I work at the local school where I can take home the leftovers. So much waste! It hurts my soul. I am on a budget challenge. Pay it all off! Love your videos. Thank you!
We are a homeschooling family. Every morning with start our day with church. Every day I let the kids (16, 13, & 12) go into the church and I sit in the van for five minutes. I know it's probably going to be the quietest part of my day.
I got the semester weekly planner this time and I think the next time I’ll get the semester daily planner so I can compare which one I will use most for next year 😊
I do! For me it’s just a little alone time before I enter my home where everyone needs my attention. I can sit in complete silence or finish a favorite song or video.
My goals for the year are to live with less fear (my goal for the past several years that I never seem to meet, so I'm trying again), to work on my spirituality, and to be free to be me. As far as my pantry goes, I'm just doing a reset - I bought some pantry items for while the kids were home, items that I typically don't eat, so whatever is left over that hasn't been opened is being given away to neighbors. Thank you for another great video, and for motivating me to get up and do some cleaning while I listened.
I’m trying to get out of the mindset of saving the food in my freezer for an emergency. It’s my goal this month to use those meats and other items I have in there. This last year, I finally felt ok using canned food past the date on the cans instead of throwing them out. I know that probably sounds very weird.
I don't do any pantry challenges. I look through my pantry, freezers and fridge about once a month to see what needs used up. Only 2 of us so my pantry freezer etc is nothing like yours lol. I decide what we're eating for that particular month and shop both pantry then the supermarket if I need anything extra. I run approx 2 - 3 month rotating panry and freezer, so its quite easy to keep on top of everything. Thank you for sharing xx
Great video. It’s just like the ones you used to make. I don’t set New Year’s resolutions anymore but I am setting a couple of goals this year. One is to read/study The Book of Mormon again. Especially as we’re studying it in Sunday school this year. The other one is to put my memorabilia in my memory books. I haven’t done them for about 5 years, so have quite a lot to do. Even tho I don’t get my pictures printed anymore I still like to save special greeting cards etc. Just curious, how many dogs have you got now? It was lovely to see Paige again. x
Kimmy, I too have ADHD and I document everything I do not use electronics and I have vision problems so I can’t use electronics to document things so I have a daily planner that I keep filled with all the appointments and anything I need to remember, and I have kept those planners from the year 2000 up until 2023. They are my planners. I keep in my purse and they have important information in them. just recently in June 2023. My husband and I Home was struck by a storm and I was in charge of all the logistics of the homeowners claim. I put together a three ring notebook with dividers and other material I needed to guide myself through the homeowners claim, I kept detailed records of all the calls and anything pertaining to the claim and I carried my red notebook everywhere with me because I never knew one someone from the insurance company was gonna call me. I also have a routing binder for my banking for our household accounts, and I use that once or twice a week. I like to have a paper trail of things in my life that might be important in future. Keep doing what you’re doing young lady you were doing an excellent job, and may God show you his favor, his grace and the wisdom that you need to do your daily task that he has assigned you.
Sitting in the car is a must. Lol the calm before the storm. Lol I am doing the Three Rivers Pantry challenge. Got to use up all my canned and freezer items before the new growing season starts. So only shopping for staples. Flour, corn meal milk etc.
Newcomer here, really enjoying your back catalog! Im doi g a sort-of pantry challenge. I'm making a concerted effort to use up what's in my freezer and pantry (recent purchase of 4lbs of radiatorre, anyone?), but im allowing myself to fill in what i need. No new major purchases! A quart of milk here, a bag of frozen broccoli broccoli there, but nothing more. Its hard when you're flying solo.
Oh yes for the pantry challenge! This is my 3 rd year documenting it on UA-cam, but ive been doing it for years and never knew how many other people did it too 😂
I love the beginning of this video with encouraging and inspirational thoughts. Made me stop and think for a minute. I have your 6-month daily planner and love it so much. I already have some stickers and the pens you recommend and I have quite a few but they really do make journaling fun. I enjoy your videos very much. You look great and I wish you and your family a wonderful 2024.
Morning Kimmy and Mr Tootles, it’s 5.25 am and it’s frosty 🥶. I would rather have the rain than frost. I never make plains as I always think of that saying “ what man proposes God disposes “.
I purposefully go through all my Christmas decorations every year and take good stock of my inventory. Do I have the room, and do I want to make room for this stuff year after year?!! Minimalism is my goal for Christmas next year. I also keep a list on a yellow legal pad of birthdays, engagements, weddings, births, deaths, and holidays, along with what I need (bags, tags, boxes, tissue paper, etc), every year for all the gifts, too. It's cool to know you do this, too. Yellow legal pads rock and I always have a ton! Anyway, minimalism is a good thing!
I use those pens. One bad thing about those pens is in the summer time if you leave your planner or notepad in a hot car the ink disappear. It happen to me and it happen to my mom.
Loved that last 2 videos you have done. They feel like the old videos you put out that had us all fall in love with you and your family. I have to tell you that you are actually my favorite UA-camr to watch. If i could only subscribe to one, it would be you 😊 p.s i was so intrigued with your Alfredo veggie chicken bake that i had to make it today and try it since i was shopping. It was absolutely delicious, what a genius healthy fast meal to make.
I am doing a pantry challenge for January (and maybe into February!) I am also getting into a rountine to keep my house clean (I have 3rd shifters who sleep all day - so that's a challenge!) I started my *major* delcuttering back in 2014. Now it's maintenance decluttering (there's always something to get rid of!) Along with the pantry challenge, I'm also doing a low buy 2024!
We just keep stocking up on things that are good prices at two stores... Aldi and the local grocery store. We try to use up perishables first and make meals of any leftovers with them. We aren't keeping many frozen leftovers. We are using them frequently. Easier than digging for leftovers and they take up freezer space for meat. We are finding that Aldi salsa and marinara are good together with spices added. Use some of each and you have a cheap sauce for spaghetti. Use just part of each jar.
We're trying to do as much cooking with what we have on hand. However like you,, we're buying things to stock up on when we see great deals. So far we're doing really well as this is our first try of doing this challenge,.
Trying not to shop much in January but when you see a great deal and stock up, why not. Temu if you start purchasing you properly dont want to stop, 😅😅
I went through my fridge freezer and my upright freezer a few days ago. Made a list of everything that’s in there and I’m going to make meals and eat off that list until everything is gone lol. I did add a Sam’s haul to it today so we’re good for a month at least😍😍
Love this video❤ thanks for sharing a bit of your day with us! Your commitment to maintaining your health l/ weight loss is admirable!! I find losing to be the easy part but maintaining is another story.
I love watching your videos, you inspire me so much! We don't decorate much for the holidays, so it takes less than an hour to take it all down. We are having your crock pot chicken spinach Alfredo for dinner. It's one of our favourite freezer meals ❤
Kimmy, Have you tried using melatonin for sleep? I haven't tried it yet on my ADHD brain but it does work for my son who has it too. Still we are stuck in a circle of going to bed in wee morning hours.
Melatonin has helped me! Take it about 4 hrs before intended bed time (it’s not a sleeping potion, but works with your circadian rhythms to quiet down your brain in preparation for sleep. Do note, however, that it can lose its effectiveness over time (you’ve topped off your melatonin supply sufficiently); so then, skip a few eves, take it a few eves, skip a few, etc.
I do not do the complete spending Freeze. I think it is rediculous. I do go through my pantry and freezers and see what needs used up. Also keeping an eye out for good sales on products we use and need. Buying what is in season makes so much sense!! Happy January!
It’s not ridiculous if you don’t eat out, spend on entertaining, etc… That’s the point. That and using foods that may have gotten pushed to the back of the pantry, fridge or freezer. Ridiculous is a strong word for trying to save money.
I usually do a paper planner, but this year I am trying digital planning using the calendar, notes and reminder apps on my phone. It’s working out good for me.
Another great video my friend! My Goal this year is to be "Intentional" in my daily life...I feel like I slipped away from that in 2023....Here's wishing you and the family a wonderful 2024!!!❤❤❤❤
I actually ate out of my pantry for December (to get some Christmas money) and will be stocking some things back up with my next paycheck. I also don’t do those no spend challenges, as I’m like you and constantly shopping my sales. I also feel like those creators have large gardens and put up a ton of food in the fall and then use these winter months to focus on using those. I live in a small apartment so I don’t have any garden and just focus on having a well stocked pantry like you.
I’ve been an analog (pen/paper) planner for years. In fact, I moved into my new planner today (came in the mail). Sorry, not a SIHA planner, another brand. I’m particular about layout. Planners have been a godsend for my aging brain.
Loved seeing this vlog... 5:38 Do you plan on staying under your inlaws for the foreseeable or will you move? How do the kids feel about your UA-cam blogs now they are older? 😊
Kimmy!!! This video seems like your old videos. You've been doing more of these lately and can I just say thank you so much! You were one of the very first homemakers I started following 7 years ago and your videos helped me so much. I started my own channel because I wanted to give back what you have to me. Thank you, Kimmy!!! You're the best! 🩷🩷🩷
Oh Kimmy! This is a beautiful video! Feels just like old times. Thanks for the quotes and the wisdom you share.
I'm so glad!

My husband is a volunteer firefighter. He told me a story of a gentleman who had multiple items on his back window of his car. He got in an accident & the tissue box flew from the back of the car & injured (yes injured) the back of his head.
Holy cow!
I also heard to not lay your feet on the dashboard/front window of the car. Bad injuries
@@fousies yes. Your leg can/will be broken in multiple places. Your hip too.
My dad was a policeman and he always warned about things in the car. In an accident they become projectiles.
@@fousiesI've seen those xrays...😶😬😬😬😬😱 Yeah, you don't wanna do that, unless you want a cartoon injury 🤕
Kimmie I loved this video 🥰🥰 it reminded of your vlogs from back in the day🥲
**I am one that sits in car before going in house.

I feel like you're back to the Kimmy visits I have always looked forward to.😍
The only goals I have is...being extra loving to my wonderful husband and be grateful for everything and everybody in my life! 🦋🥰💕🙏
Really loving your videos lately! I’m doing a pantry challenge BUT if I come across an extra good sale on anything we use I will stock up. For your tacos, you could open a can of diced tomatoes and drain the liquid for another use.
I did minimal decorating for Christmas and it was so nice to not take long to put it away.
I’m a paper planner too. Good to know about the Happy Planner stickers fitting in your planner.
I get from Dollar Tree: scissors, scotch tape, all the wrapping paper and tissue paper. I didn't find ribbon &bows I liked very much though, so that's what I splurge on at Hobby Lobby.
I soooo do this. I sit in the car for a while when I get home from work! You are not alone ! 😃
I really enjoyed this video! Very inspirational and helpful too. One of my goals this year is to get organized, especially with meal planning so that way I can have something in the crockpot when I get home from work or at least know what I'm going to fix for supper. Oh yes for the pantry challenge! This is my 3 rd year documenting it on UA-cam, but ive been doing it for years and never knew how many other people did it too 😂
Yep, our challenge is to empty the fridge and use up all those canned goods that are aging out. Almost there with the freezer!
I love the added scripture and comments!!

We are doing the challenge.
in Wisconsin, most days are pantry challenges because it's too blizzardy to get out.

Oh I'm so happy to hear there are other women who do this car pause thing!
Love this video! You have such great meal tips, uplifting positivity, and your videos are calming and real. Thank you.
I use those pens. One bad thing about those pens is in the summer time if you leave your planner or notepad in a hot car the ink disappear. It happen to me and it happen to my mom.
Good to know! Thanks!
I used chicken patties like that to make buffalo ranch chicken wraps yum 😋
I am doing a pantry challenge for January (and maybe into February!) I am also getting into a rountine to keep my house clean (I have 3rd shifters who sleep all day - so that's a challenge!) I started my *major* delcuttering back in 2014. Now it's maintenance decluttering (there's always something to get rid of!) Along with the pantry challenge, I'm also doing a low buy 2024!
I love these vlog style videos!!
Glad you like them Sarah!
Love your videos. Thank you for the content.
I appreciate that! Thank you. I’m so glad you’re here.
Paper Schedule Book.
We're trying to do as much cooking with what we have on hand. However like you,, we're buying things to stock up on when we see great deals. So far we're doing really well as this is our first try of doing this challenge,.
I enjoyed the quotes to start the video. Had a hard day and this was a good reminder that I am enough. 😊
Dry onion soup mix in alfredo sauce? Yummm, trying that next time!
Loved this video and the dinner ideas especially the already prepared taco meal straight from the freezer . ❤️🇨🇦
I love watching your videos, you inspire me so much! We don't decorate much for the holidays, so it takes less than an hour to take it all down. We are having your crock pot chicken spinach Alfredo for dinner. It's one of our favourite freezer meals ❤
Broccoli chicken Alfredo sauce cheese, onion soup mix etc looks so yummy , will try it out
Kimmy, Have you tried using melatonin for sleep?
That’s great!
I don’t like jarred Alfredo sauce, but oh my, I bet I would love it with your add ins!
Loved seeing this vlog... 5:38 Do you plan on staying under your inlaws for the foreseeable or will you move? How do the kids feel about your UA-cam blogs now they are older? 😊
As long as I have been Watching you Your food looks Delicious and Thank you for sharing 😊😊❤❤❤
Yes I sit in my car in the carport. Sometimes longer than others ...lol
I loved this video. It had a little bit of everything. Love when you & Mr Tootles do things together.
We also had a brown Christmas and now January 8 it's now a white day
Using perishables in frig, pantry and freezer daily for meals.
