There's nothing wrong with the way this car looks it's aerodynamic body it was shaped like a damn bullet aerodynamic headlights good on gas plenty of horsepower unheard up speeds of 160 miles an hour back then not expensive parts easy to work on and you can always add more horsepower to the LS1 classic engine...I'll take one of these cars any day over a brand new Camaro.. I also like the Firebird of that time

Nice breakdown, but just a couple points for clarification. The Limited Edition cars all came with stripes, they were not optional. GM was relatively unhappy with the fact that the 1997 Z4C Camaro’s had a multitude of options, and for 2002, they wanted them to look the same. This is why the Z4C option code was not made available to the Z28 platform. Also, GM did not originally want to offer the SLP upfitter red and silver grill as they could not get it to pass warranty validation, therefore it was offered through SLP’s catalogue and not part of the cars second sticker content.
Second, not all Z4C 35th Anniversary Camaros had the 345 performance pack as it was referred to. They were all born with the base 325 hp engines and could be up fitted through the second sticker content with either 345 dual/dual low restriction exhaust, or with the center mount exhaust. And, for clarification, the 345 performance pack consisted of the low restriction expand the Donaldson Blackwing air lid, which the best air lid on the market for these cars and is next to impossible to find.
Also, your assessment of these cars not being good looking cars is a bit harsh. The 4thr gen Camaro was ahead of its time and very consistent with the post modern times of the 90’s. These car barely squeaked into the new millennium, so it’s design is best left categorized for 90’s design.
These cars are purely amazing and in stock trim still hold their own even today. They are not the most comfortable cars, but they are sexy and loads of fun. Thanks for the review, and it is nice to see some love for the 4th generation Camaro’s.

I mostly agree with everything you said and also learned something new from this, but in the 3rd paragraph where you said that I think the 4th gen Camaro looks bad? I don't see the Camaro as a bad-looking car. The car looks good and alright, and different.
The conflict of the 4th gen Camaro came from some enthusiasts because GM eliminated the traditional boxy, sharp edges, and quadrangle shapes after the first 3 gen Camaros. The 4th gen Camaro is much rounder, has wider edges, and has a much sleeker design as most cars from the 90s were sleek, causing it to lose some of its characters. Again, the 4th gen Camaro has weird angles but that doesn't mean it's considered a bad design unlike some who see the car as ugly or just don't do it for them.
But GM did that for a good reason, the first 3 Camaros look more muscle and the 4th gen Camaro look more like a sports car rather than a muscle car, then again Camaro and Mustang look like sports cars today. At the end of the day, the 4th gen Camaro does have an appearance of a Catfish as the front end shows a clear image.

At 8:55 you state, it’s not the best looking Camaro, which I think is an unfair statement. Again, you have to look back to then as most sports cars were low, sleek, rounded and aerodynamic. Look at the C5 Vette, also very low and rounded.
To understand the design of the 4th gen, we need to go back to the original concept of the car. Initially, GM’s intention was to continue the overall look of the 3rd gen design, but switch to a slightly more rounded design and predominantly have most bolt on body panels made of sheet molded composite (SMC). The concept was built, and the brand manager said, rake the windshield back to make it more aerodynamic. I can’t recall what the exact angle is and I don’t feel like looking it up, but in a nutshell, that idea completely changed the look of the car and actually made it a semi-mid engine design, which is why that car is so aggressively aerodynamic even compared to cars built today.
A stock B4C (police issue) was put against a stock C5 Vette at the testing grounds, and the Camaro actually beat the Vette. The 4th gen Camaro does not appeal to all, but it was a car that fit the times. Over the past 15 years I have seen less and less of them and I am happy to see their value finally start appreciating.
I know you don’t know me, and I am just another person posting on UA-cam, but believe me when I tell you, I am a 4th Gen-ologist. I know these cars in great detail, their strengths and weaknesses. I know what their original chassis is built on, which not too many people know. I know what the test mule car looked like and what color it was and I know the fate of the t-top anniversary car that you see pictured with the convertible LE car on the promotional material.
I am also close friends with the former brand manager of Camaro. Again, you might say I am a 4th Gen-Ologist.

@@phoenixblack1220 Well said, you seem to know much more about it, also me saying "not the best looking Camaro" is just my opinion and you also have yours. Again, I appreciate the 4th gen Camaro, and reading this is educating me more and stuff I didn't know about this Camaro after I did my last research 3 months ago before making this video. Thanks for teaching me the new things about the 4th gen Camaro.👍

    • @phoenixblack1220

My pleasure. These are amazing cars that do not get the love they deserve. What many 5th and 6th gen owners must appreciate is that these cars held the mantle from 2002 to 2009 in the pony wars and was holding its own quite well.
What was sad for me and many of my 4th gen friends was when the new car was introduced, many 5th gen owners wanted nothing to do with any of the other generation owners and felt they were in a class by themselves, and that was a shame.
The 4th gen will always be an unsung hero and an icon as well as a true piece of American and Canadian history.

I can't tell if this video is a joke or not but people absolutely love the 98 to 02 camaros, not to mention the 02 trans am is still a sought after vehicle and are supposedly getting harder to find when wherever you look them up they are easily found, not to mention the mustang and camaro war didn't end its still on going and the camaro is killing it each day, Ford has placed their cars down to thin sheets of plastic to save on money, not even about protection anymore, build em cheap gonna be put out cheap, which is the same reason you see people laughing at ford's like their traction losing control and swerving towards crowds because it's the driver AND the vehicle

The Mustang and the Camaro battle did end after the year 2002 for the first time. The Camaro was gone for 7 years while the Mustang had no competitor and even when Ford introduce the 5th gen (S197) Mustang in 2005. By 2009, the battle between them resurrected.
