    At 7:04, we meant to say *water separator*, not oil, sorry for the confusion!

    Hey guys... Check your oil against factory recommended... These old 2 strokes require straight 40wt, not multi weight ... Good luck with your journey...

    I like how she gets into it and does real work, whether painting the floorboards, wiring up batteries or coaxing off a valve cover to pour oil onto the lifters. Now I'm waiting to see if he can rustle up dinner in the galley.

    Cograts on your Uniflite !!! I have a 34 ,in Virginia, all I can say these boats are built tough !! Everything on my boat ,75, is top quality.
    I swear I think I could roll her down a hill and the only things that would get messed up are the antennas and bow rail. Hope you enjoy your restoration. You will l certainly appreciate the quality unflite put in their boats.

    a beautiful old boat... looking forward to see what you do with her... I lived in
    Victoria BC in the early 70's. I took the Power Squadron course in 74 on an old Chris Craft I think it was about 26' boat. Regrettably I left Victoria. So I am excited for you two and Crowley!

    From my cruising experience fuel quality is a problem. Invest in a dual Racor system and carry bunch of spares. Also fuel additives anti algae ect are important. For electricl upgrades Bluesea Systems products are exceptional.

    We just bought a 1981 - 45 ft Northwind from the Unflite facility a little over a month ago from the Seattle area. Looks like we will have a lot of things similiar as your boat looks just like ours.

    Welding supply shops have awg 1&2 stranded cable, also if you need cables in a pinch, use jumper cables.

      Thanks! Which marina? We have been struggling to find slips in the Seattle area that are wide enough for it and don't have massive wait lists. We found one in Salmon Bay, but it was really tight.

      Maybe we should talk, I think there are a few options around lake if that is where you want to be, it does get a little harder if you want Liveaboard permission but I think there are still opportunities.

      It’s inspiring to see a young couple heading out on an adventure of freedom. When they make their own path and aren’t sure what’s around the corner. The world is yours to conquer. The next thing is solar panels and a charging system, you’ll never return to shore. This the third time I’ve edited this, your dad is with you. The ocean is a refrigerator and the handle is a hook. There’s nothing in the ocean that has fat that is bad for you. God put man and women in the garden, the ocean is your garden.

    On a boat of that age your lighting is almost certainly the old style halogen bulbs. You can in most cases get LED replacements they use a fraction of the power and will help you with your energy budget.

    • @SeekingSeas
      @SeekingSeas  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the suggestion, we will definitely be replacing them all with LEDs. The only challenge we're facing with that right now is how to mount them in the headliner, as it's not backed with plywood.

    WHen you do the cables add heat shrink to the end and cover the cable/fitting and the hole in the fitting. Use an Adesive heat shrink or add a little hot glue, silicon gloop into the joint. ( if you use silicon make sure its acid free if it smell sounrish DONT use it)

    • @SeekingSeas

      @@SeekingSeas I see that several others had the same comment. Sorry you have to eat the cost of so much oil. Tractor Supply often has good prices on the oil the DD's need. I am restoring my boat, 1983 Ocean Yachts 46 Sunliner Buena Ventura, and will watch your work on yours. Electrical issues as she was hit by lightning some time ago and never repaired. All the AC lights were blown out so I am doing the conversion to LEDs and also the power and invertors. Bus Grease Monkey did a video on BV on his UA-cam Channel. Best on your labors.
