Love IC3PEAK-there’s nobody else like them in North America or Western Europe. I wish I could be more overt in my appreciation for Russian alternative culture without everyone assuming I support their government. It all just makes war feel all the more despicable. People are people-they mostly all want the same thing. They didn’t sign up for what their government got them involved in. I found your channel from your New Wave video which the YT suggested for me & I looked to see what else had been covered here, and this had to be the one I watched first. This is all great content!
Russia has some great music! Honestly anyone who thinks you support the Russian government just cause you like Russian music can shove it. Appreciate you checking out the channel. I actually just dropped a video on music from other parts of the world if you’re interested. Thanks for watching!
this guy saying about some underground unpopular music being banned for amoral topics in their art. Big deal, nobody cares really. Although I used to listen IC3PEAK a lot back in days, can't say their art was completely normal (just look at their album pic) however, their songs is still available in VKontakte. This whole "horror show" is exaggerated, everything is fine really. except kino group that was attacked in crocus, but they survived
The video is very ambiguous, on the one hand, yes, these songs were criticized by the government and several concerts were canceled, but no one censored them, they are quietly lying on UA-cam or even on the domestic Yandex music platform. In addition, I want to say that artists perform with extremely oppositional vocabulary even more not in the songs themselves, but in interviews or other public statements. In general, it is ridiculous to hear about censorship from a person living in the United States after the former president was subjected to political persecution so that he could not get a second term. In Russia , they cut out a couple of songs and you are a whole person . In addition, the cancellation culture is much worse than censorship in Russia, how many truly talented people were kicked out of work for posts on Twitter 10 years ago.
@@JukeboxHistory Man, the problem is that censorship in Russia is open and obeys clear rules. If you want to be shown on TV, don't call the government nits and assholes. In the USA, on the contrary, the system is designed so that the government imposes an information agenda that is beneficial to it through social networks, and if someone does not meet this agenda, he is bullied from all platforms and simply cut off from the opportunity to speak out, like the same Trump or Kanye West. I'm not saying that they are good people, I'm just trying to explain that the culture of cancellation is the same censorship, but not by methods of direct prohibition, but by means of propaganda and influence on private services such as UA-cam, Twitter, Facebook.
@@JukeboxHistory Nope, dat's looks true Censorship in Russia is significantly softer than it was in USSR, mostly because of internet And though I do not live in US, I can only say that here in Russia we neither have such social institution as cancel culture nor such high-restricted community terms in our digital platforms and social networks That's why despite all our gouvernment's attempts to censor smth (and constantly failing to do that or most likely not even trying) (Russia is kinda digital piracy heaven btw) it still 'feels' like we have more freedom of speech than so-called Western World, US included Fun fact: western digital companies done much more censorship for Russians than their gouvernment not to mention a literal avalanche of bans and restictions for using a lot of tools and apps which followed western sanctions So in conclusion: yes, we have some censorship there in Russia, but it's only done by our gouvernment, but US seems to be censored both by the gouvernment and digital companies P.S. Ice Peak is just a shitty musicians listened by only pretentios teenagers (for only their gothic eccentric image) and almost nobody there takes their superficial political agenda seriously

You are huffing paint if you think that censorship in America is worse than censorship in Russia
