- There are lots of amazing outdoor swimming areas in the world. Some of them are safe and protected with lifeguards watching over you while you swim, bathe, dive off rocks, and play in the water. But some beaches are not just unsafe - they’re outright dangerous! Here are 8 places where you should never attempt a swim if you treasure your health and life.

SUMMARY:
- Most blue holes are open to the public. However, some of the biggest ones have acquired a really bad reputation among divers.
- It's hard to believe that nature created something as colorful as the thermal pools located in Yellowstone National Park. They look like something from another world: bright, beautiful...and deadly.
- Laguna Caliente is located in Costa Rica and differs dramatically from its sibling, Botos Lake. These 2 bodies of water are crater lakes of the Poas Volcano.
- Mount Nyiragongo, which is situated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is an active volcano. Its last eruption took place in 2002. In its crater, there's a lake. But it’s not your typical lake.
- Lake Hillier in Western Australia is indeed as pink as it looks. This is a shallow salt lake that’s beautifully edged with white salt formations and surrounded by eucalyptus forests.
- New Smyrna Beach has been called the “Shark Capital of the World” by the International Shark Attack File. In 2008, almost 40% of all shark attacks on the planet happened in this region.
- If you look at the photo of Frying Pan Lake in New Zealand, you might think that there's fog hanging low over the water. Similar fog (or, more precisely, steam) forms over warm water on a cold morning.
- Eagle's Nest Sinkhole is a body of water in Florida that looks like an ordinary pond. It’s only when you get into the water that it gets dangerous. Beneath the lake, there's a huge system of underwater caves with rooms and passages that spread for miles.

Lake Hillier (the pink lake in the video) is actually safe to swim in (though it has a high salt concentration (just like the dead sea)). Although scientist don’t know what causes the pinkness it’s speculated that it’s caused by the reaction of sea salt and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) or caused by red halophilic bacteria in the salt crusts. It’s also just like Spencer Lake which is on main land Australia (in Western Australia) except Spencer Lake hasn’t been pink in over 10 years. And it doesn’t stop there, there’s Hutt Lagoon. Hutt Lagoon is located near the mouth of the Hutt River (which I believe leads to the Principality of Hutt River which is actually a micro-nation). This lagoon/lake also has a high salt concentration but changes colour depending on the time of day, the season (time of year) & the amount of cloud coverage; these colours include a red to a bubblegum pink to a lilac purple.

There's a pink lake in Senegal that is pink as well. When I went there a ton of locals were swimming and walking around in it.

mustika maharani it’s not that dangerous. And the reason why it’s pink is because the only things that can live in the lake are these pink bacteria. That’s why it’s that colour. The worst it can probably do is make your skin dry

Regarding Australia’s Lake Hillier, Pink Lake, it was recently discovered that the lake's pink color is caused by the presence of microalgae, Dunaliella Salina, and halophilic bacteria. The combination of the two produce carotenoid pigments and give the lake its color. It contains high salt concentrations but It’s safe to swim in it, but not drink

I actually went to New Symrna Beach very often as a child when my family and I lived in Florida, and we went again recently when we visited. I've gone there countless times since I was a toddler and never knew it was one of the most dangerous beaches in the world until recently. I myself never felt unsafe there. But that's just my experience.

You forgot lake Apopka in Florida.
Due to years of pesticide run off into the lake from the Orange orchards, it's now toxic and only home to creatures that can transfer from one body of water to this one, like gators and turtles.
People don't even boat here. So it makes for great photos.
I live right near Lake Apopka and it has gotten 10 times cleaner than it used to be. We now swim and fish in it. And btw, it's called an orange grove, not an orange orchard.

Guys as according to my research I think the pink lake ,red sea and red tides have same reason for their reddish appearance that they have dinoflagellates in them which are named as GYMNODIUM and GONYAULAX these can also survive in too much salty conditions ......I think you must have learnt the reason .....hit one like for me and comment me for your quarries

I know why the lake is pink, its because there is so much salt in it that nothing can live in it and due to the absence of marine life, microorganisms inhabit the lake which makes its pink color
