Carbon monoxide is heavy and pools in hollows, valleys, basements and such. Look at the topography. Carry a lighter to test. If it won't light, then not enough oxygen. Winter and spring people stay indoors more.

It did say that the oxygen and carbon monoxide levels were within the legal limits even when they knew about the carbon monoxide theory. The first researchers could have taken data when the levels were completely normal. That’s an example of why data needs to be taken multiple times!
It’s scary to think about how small children and the elderly could have been affected.
The only good thing about the story is that the levels would go back to normal fast enough to keep anyone from getting killed!

It's a natural or unnatural Xenon gas vent. Xenon is an anesthetic. When the water entered any high concentrations of ore will undergo fission. One of those fission products is Xenon a hallmark of U235 fission. The theory about the carbon monoxide would have shown up in physical diagnosis. It produces cherry red lips. Xenon on the other hand is well tolerated up to high concentrations you just stay asleep. I'm certain this is the cause.
Xe135 is produced that has a high cross section for neutrons so poisons the fission reaction but produces stable Xe136. This bubbles up and leaks through cracks into dwellings.
Xe133 to 136 are produced. Xe135 becomes Xe136. The other isotopes become cesium. Xe136 is slightly radioactive and denser than the lighter stable isotopes. Normal Xénon from air is average 131.
Mostly Xe136 will be coming out of the mine. This is denser than 131 and that may cause it to have a stronger effect.
I suggest pumping the air out and extracting the xenon for sale.

It’s heightened leveled of carbon monoxide that scientists and their government have found leaking from the uranium mine. It’s not a weapon but an accident and two villages (hopefully theirs as well) had evacuated. 4 years ago, authorities were reported to have been relocating quite a few of the families. By now, they probably have been well settled into their new homes.

Carbon Monoxide (CO). By the way, CO is why a mechanic needs to check your car's exhaust system for leaks. It is a neurotoxin. In the US, CO exposure from various sources leads to more than 20,000 people to visit the emergency room, and more than 4,000 are hospitalized. - per the CDC.
      I guess your co2 was a typo.

    • @wownewstome6123
      @wownewstome6123 2 роки тому

For anyone interested, also: "CO is found in fumes produced by furnaces, stoves, lanterns, and gas ranges, or by burning charcoal and wood." - Per CDC, article: "Carbon Monoxide Poisoning (CO)"
Any combustion of fuel creates it, EVEN smoldering charcoals that you think burnt out already.
People have died in tents because they brought in their BBQ-er when they thought the coals were no longer lit. They thought it would keep them warm, but they never woke up.

there are still some flaws to that explanation though:
why only one cat was affected but every other animal is fine?
why it doesnt affect several people within the same area?
why there's another village even closer to the mine but have absolutely no reports whatsoever on the sleeping illness?
while it is the only one closer enough to be explained, it isnt the conclusive one yet, so i suggest to also investigate on other causes of this issue.
