Omni directional treadmill in my home has been a dream since I backed the cyberith virtualizer on Kickstarter back in what....2014, was it? Yeah they have never delivered it. So beware of buying hardware like this via Kickstarter. Really. Be prepared to possibly loose ALL the money you pledge.

I want to know when should I buy a VR? Should I keep waiting for the tech to go further or is there a cheap option for now? Or I should go all out now? I know there is literally nothing that gets my attention right now the Index have been released too soon and brake easy, any Oculus is own by Facebook so IT'S A BIG NO NO for me, and Vive is the one I would choose but they seems to be sometime cheap and they don't innovate anymore or at least trying.

Well, only boomers still think looking at screens can damage your eyes.
It's not good for already existing conditions sure, but as for the rest that don't already have eyes conditions, the rare second effects are never something permanent.
And no, headaches and pain because it's too small on the screen or blue light don't count. You can zoom or put it on night mode. It's 2020.

S W Actually screens today can’t hurt your eyes. They can cause you not to blink and have dry eyes but the original TVs in the 1950’s to 1970’s leaked radiation so those said “Boomers” have worse eyesight then generation X,Y and Z and those to come.

I could see people in the future having a VR treadmill in their House just like some people have normal treadmills or workout equipment.
    - If VR evolves enough and eventually when it hits mainstream and starts substituteing consoles I see posibillity for people to lay down around $900 as a one time purchase of the equipment to use as their Main Home entertainment system.
(Yeah its a big investment but when VR becomes the main platform, having one vr headsett+treadmill for shareing in the house hold could be reality for most.)

Beaming light directly into the eye sounds like a bad idea. With how easy it is for people to over-indulge in tech it very well could cause eye strain, cataracts or blindness.
The omnimill, however, sounds like a decent solution to obesity provided it can handle 300lbs+ and the occasional slip n fall. I would put so much cardio into that thing.

Also, would there be a way to bring rock climbing to vr? Not just getting a set up only of rock climbing, but something that allows people with a vr treadmill to do rock climbing as well. Once there is a great working omnidirectional treadmill for VR at an affordable price that allows you to run as fast as you want then yeah, I will buy it + a new VR headset. Ive pretty much given up on VR until I can get my hands on a omnidirectional treadmill for VR.

Just wanted to throw this in there.. Obviously simulators for flight and racing (both professional and amateur) have been enjoying VR for a while now, but it's amazing to see how many people on the flight sim page I'm on (DCS World), everyone always wants to know "what's the best VR headset to get right now?", because everyone sees how amazing it is and they want to experience it too. Every day there's 5-10 people posting updates that they just got a new headset, and how much it's blowing their minds.

Hey ThrillSeeker and the Community, I'm sort of a noob when it comes to VR even though I've had my Oculus Rift S for a while now because I don't get a lot of time to play. But almost every time I go to play games through Steam VR, I have some sort of problem and have to spend my whole time taking the cables out and replugging them, trying weird fixes etc just to try and play. I even got my headset replaced thinking it was a hardware issue but I've had no luck. Sometimes everything works perfectly and other times tracking is completely gone or I get terrible minute-long freezes back to back that make the headset unusable. I'm running the latest beta of Oculus and Steam VR, on 8600k, 1070, 16GB RAM etc. I see no reason why I'm having these issues but it really sucks and turns me off of playing VR. I don't wanna drop $1500+ on a Valve Index just to enjoy VR. Am I doing something wrong? I'm hoping someone can help me figure it out if you take the time to read and respond, thank you so much and I genuinely appreciate it. As I truly enjoy VR but I don't have the time to fiddle around with it for 2 hours every time only to give up and go sleep for work.

On the topic of smart glasses, there's also a pair called Focals by North that were bought by Google.
