Glad to see this video has Idyllwild in it! I like your philosophy & taste in rides! The 3rd gen's are one of my favorite rides of all time. A true classic for sure! If you have the 4X4 capability it's a keeper as they're becoming rare. I work at the local music store in the lower town, if you need help with most stringed musical instruments let me know we specialize in electric guitars! I also have a 99 3rd gen, with 4X4 as well! I'm rebuilding the whole exterior of the motor with most gaskets and sensors. The biggest deal yet has been the valve adjustments. I'm ordering 12 out of 24 shims for it to run perfectly. I've got about 350,000 original miles on it, but the compression numbers are very good! I should expect at least 150,000 more from all the work. I'm rebuilding the entire cooling system with Mishimoto hoses, & a KoyoRad all aluminum radiator! The only hoses the were replaced with factory ones are the oil cooler hoses! It's gonna be great! Take care brother!

I just bought a 2002 4 runner I was looking for something to haul a small boat around with and double as a overnighter camper for fishing trips , mine is only 2wd I don’t plan on serious off roading but the thought of putting a winch on the front Just in case I get into a bind has crossed my mind ,mines got 187000 and runs like a top, this truck is like super clean it’s got a couple of door dings but it’s 20 yrs old , judging from the Disney stickers on the back window and chocolate shake stains on the back carpet I’m guessing it was a soccer moms ride I’ll be going through it to update on the maintenance end of it so there will be no worries or surprises on the road ,” the more I drive it the more I love it “ ! Geeze it sounds like a country western song !

Your back platform looks simple and useful. It may not be perfect, but it looks like it works fine. Awesome, functionality.

Super way to maximize your off road comfort and organized self containment. I was wondering if you secured the unit to any hard points in case the situation has the pitch of your approach or descent angle too upset? The last thing you need is catching that from behind during a heavy breaking incident. But if you secure it to the rig you can tie down that fridge to the platform too. Maybe even something like a couple pan hard bars across or thru it to the body to trap it down..
I just know if I am going to find myself in a future adventure or two with our new to us 97 Gen 3, its got a rocky road ahead of it.
    The slide out table is...breh

Great job on the build. I just finished a similar sleeper platform for my 4Runner. No drawers yet, just Tupperware bins under there for now. Where did you get the roll up sleeper? I need something like that.

How much total length do you get from the tailgate to the back of the driver's seat for your sleeping setup? ie. how tall can someone be before a 3rd gen 4runner is impractical for sleeping in
