I had 4 of these 3rd Gens, if u are in a tight budget, the Rough Country 3" lift with complete shocks did amazing and didnt let me down! Pair em with some freedom off road UCAs and it was a beast off road. Nothing like going fast on the desert suspension but great for camping trips and some off road fun!
Couple things that may help with daily drivability: Lower ball joints Tundra Brake Upgrade Honda windshield nozzle mod Apple Carplay Headunit Headlight projector retrofit Andys Mod 2 Trac off button I have a couple vids on my channel when i had a 2001 3rd gen as well.
@santipedros6908 Yep, still doing good. Bought it from the original owner at 302k. Completely rust free. Only unexpected things I've done to it is replaced the original radiator, new battery, and front u-joint. Did brakes all around, tires, and rear shocks when I first got it. Make sure to ask about the timing belt and water pump. Those are recommended to be replaced every 100k, and if you're getting a shop to do the work it may run you $1,000 or more.
@@DLCRMedia i would argue its better, not to sound like a prick but im a tall guy and it can get kind of uncomfortable sitting because of the way they designed the sitting position, i like to think of it like a cockpit in a plane feeling, you are kind of locked in, the opposite of like a 2015 Chevy where its like a bus seat and you can basically move around all you want
Gotta remember, back then SUVs were a new idea. It's basically a pickup with a big cab on top. They handle accordingly. Some people like that, some don't. A good daily p/u will get you 200k+ with a medium amount of TLC. The problem is, now you have to have passengers.....
@@lifeofbengyn oh ok yeah yours is just a baby in the 4runner world lol and you probably take great care of it and yeah the flatness probably helps too i hope you keep getting really good mpg!
I’m getting 18-20ish also on my ‘02. I use marvel mystery oil in the gas tank so maybe that could be the difference? 12-13 seems too low so maybe check that out. I also replaced the fuel filter a few years back. Good video, enjoy your 4Runner!
@@DLCRMedia check your pcv valve, and other things that would cause low mpg, because i get abouts 16 which is the rated combined mpg i think for these trucks
Yeah it didn’t come with this car, I should’ve mentioned it in this video that’s my bad for not doing so but thank you for the comment to help other people out!
Yeah bro the guy who actually watched the video kinda owned you on that one 🙏 i respect trying to sound like a 4runner expert tho cuz we all love 4runners but yeah nah i know where it was supposed to be it just didn’t come with it
Which bro, bro, you think owns me on this bro? You're a hack, bro. You sound like a tool when saying a special tool is needed to drop the tire. Don't be lazy.
love kept it real , most convincing review i’ve seen
Thank you i appreciate that 🤝 i t try my best to keep them genuine!

Awesome 3rd Gen 4 Runner. I can't wait to see what you do with it. Nice 👍🏾💯
Thank you so much! And yup we have a lot in store for it!!
These have a 3.4 V6, not a 3.6. Been daily driving my 2002 for 3 years now. Currently has 324k on the clock.
You are totally right man just realized my mistake 😂 that’s amazing tho 324k is crazy you probably take super good care of it!
Still running ok? I'd like to know cause I'm considering buying one to keep it for a long time.

I wish I could buy one of this but I feel like I would need a small sedan to daily because of gas prices, but still one of dream cars
Yeah man the mpg really is its biggest downfall but honestly one day you can get one!!

Check underneath the rear seat for that tool.
Thank you but yeah it’s not where it’s supposed to be unfortunately
@DLCRMedia that's unfortunate.
12-13 mpg is crazy
i get 18-19mpg in my 4wd lifted 4runner
How many miles does yours have? And either way man you’re lucky you be getting that mpg not even our brand new tacoma gets that good of MPG haha

How tall are you? Torso long? Looks like a lot of head room unlike the 5gen with sunroof
I’m only like 5’6” haha so there is plenty of head room for a small guy like me but anyone a few inches taller might have a bit more of a struggle!

I daily drive my 2000 4runner. I need the 4WD for those LA winters. It’s a whole lot better than daily driving my s2000, which I did for 5 years
Yeah it’s super nice to have and i bet your s2000 is super fun but yeah probably not ideal for the winter!
I was shocked when I found out some 4Runners are just 2wd
